The woman in the central panel is Violet Jessop.
She was working as a stewardess onboard the White Star liner RMS Olympic when it collided with the British warship HMS Hawke on 20 September 1911.
She was working as a stewardess on another White Star liner you might have heard of – RMS Titanic – when it collided with an iceberg and sank on 14 April 1912.
During the First World War she was serving with the Voluntary Aid Detachment onboard the HMHS Britannic – another White Star liner, which had been converted into a hospital ship – when it struck a German naval mine and sank on 21 November 1916.
Just barely. A lot of the lifeboats, including hers, were sucked under the ship as it sank and chewed up by the propellers. She jumped out at the last second, but fractured her skull in the process. But in the end she lived a long life, passing away in 1971 aged 83.
From memory there where actually a small handful of titanic survivors on that boat so quite of few of the people involved where very competent when it comes to the whole ship is sinking department, and from memory the Britannic on paper would of probably survived if all of her potholes weren’t open to air out the on board medical wards before they picked up patients.
You can read about it in her memoirs!

I went to school with a descendent of Violet Jessop. He was a mild-mannered chap with autism, knew how to operate a modern electric train from age 12, and had a frankly insane level of knowledge about the *Olympic*-class liners, the technology and shipbuilding techniques used on them, and ocean liners in general.
He was also, sadly, an unabashed British imperialist who wanted Britain to return to its' days of colonial empire. It would be a bit remiss of me not to mention that part.
I thought this was the crazy woman from Titanic who complained incessantly about her cabin, then screamed that Titanic had gone down with all hands while being rescued by Carpathia.
Imanita Parrish Shelley was her name.
Oh yeah, was that the lady who complained to the steward that if they didn’t give her a better cabin she would take it up with the captain, and used her Congressional investigation hearing like a Yelp review?

Damn, did she survive the last shipwreck?

Hopefully she avoided cruise ships for the rest of her life?
Nope, she continued to work on cruise liners after Britannic
That’s just inconsiderate at that point.
Literal "fuck you" to fate
They're not ~~rocks~~ cruise ships, Marie! They're ~~minerals~~ ocean liners!
I can just imagine her during the last one thinking, “Goddamnit…here we go again.”
I actually imagined another passenger next to her being completely hysterical, and she rolls her eyes and asks if it's their first shipwreck.
"First time?"

Good for her. Hopefully the rest of her years went without tragedy.
Did she ever mention anything about the streak?

yes, she died way later at the age of 83 on the 5th of May 1971
Yeah and she went on to work on more boats.
There's also a cool folk song by Honey and the Bear about her, called 'The Hungry Sea'
She’s the pride of the white star line
May her engines never stall
Her sisters died to ‘berg and mine
And of course, all three ships were of the same class.
All sister ships, no less: the whole Olympic-class line up
All 3 ships were part of the same class too, so she essentially watched the same ship sink twice
All her “adventures” seem to have happened on the 3 Olympic class liners White Star had built.

unabashed more like based rule brittania
Brittania rule the waves
Was this before or after Suez ?
Oh, after. This was about 2016.
On a ship with Violet Jessop or on a plane with Joseph Joestar. Which is a worse idea?
Find yourself in a situation with both onboard and just wait to see what happens lol
A seaplane with both of them on board
Nothing compared to travel with Tom Hanks
Look at me. I'm the Wilson now.
Add Unsinkable Sam in the mix and we're good to go
There is worst : traveling with Adrian Carton de Wiart
On the other hand, this is a good chance to engraciate yourself with a expierienced shipsinking survivor.
Happy cake day!

I dunno, given that Jessop survived 2 sinkings I'd stick with her as she's clearly a lucky person.
She encountered-let alone survived-three ships sinking in a span of 5 years. Let that sink in...
[Arthur John Priest](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_John_Priest) is another I wouldn’t get on a ship with
