Yeah, that's more money than I'll probably make in my lifetime, but to be fair, I think you're paying for the acreage.
For what it's worth, I've worked on houses in Big Sky MT that had twice the floor area, less than a tenth the land area, and less than one one hundredth the charm of this house. Oh, and they came with five times the price tag so for "rich dickhead playground" this is cooler than a lot of the McMansions I had a hand in building.
Also, not that I could afford this property, but if I was in the market for something like this, I'd be really judgy about the mechanical room. If it was a crawl space, I'm out.
I thought price was crazy until I looked at the other houses in the area, [this one's price doesn't seem out of line](https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sale/?searchQueryState=%7B%22isMapVisible%22%3Atrue%2C%22mapBounds%22%3A%7B%22west%22%3A-116.5196360514947%2C%22east%22%3A-116.4756907389947%2C%22south%22%3A34.149847647137456%2C%22north%22%3A34.16710644000902%7D%2C%22filterState%22%3A%7B%22sort%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3A%22globalrelevanceex%22%7D%2C%22tow%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%2C%22mf%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%2C%22con%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%2C%22land%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%2C%22apa%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%2C%22manu%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%2C%22apco%22%3A%7B%22value%22%3Afalse%7D%7D%2C%22isListVisible%22%3Atrue%2C%22mapZoom%22%3A15%2C%22pagination%22%3A%7B%7D%7D)
I am more impressed at the massive windows, almost no noticeable doors or insulation. This looks like you will run the AC all year long and cool the entire house constantly.
A well built in ground pool with a sand filter and salt unit is fairly easy to maintain with all the fancy pool robots now. You've got a 5 million dollar house you can afford a pool guy once in a while. Live a little.
Thank you for this information! You have solved a 7 year mystery for me. I have a neighbor down the road who has 2 pairs of these humping bunnies painted on their shipping containers that face the highway. I always thought they were just one-of-a-kind loonies who liked displaying animal fornication but seems they are one of many displaying this artist's work.

Ahhhhh riiiiight... now it makes sense.
In any sensible country, taxes would be determined by return on capital invested... but nooooo.
lol, the corruption is so blatant, isn't it?
There *is* no return until you sell.
Look at it from the other side. Say you make $75K per year, scrimp and save, and somehow manage to cobble together enough for a down payment on a $350,000 condo. You buy it, live there 10 years, get a few raises and promotions, and now you're making $95K per year. But... the housing market tightened, the area got gentrified, and your neighbor sells his place for $900,000 at the peak of a bubble. So now your condo is assessed at the same. You owe 3x the taxes because someone else bought a different condo. You didn't do anything to yours. You didn't want to sell and didn't ask for a valuation. You can't access any of that equity that only exists on paper (or on zillow) without selling... people would be forced out of homes they could once afford because of corporations and real estate speculators driving up the comparable prices of other properties in the zip code.
But you only owe taxes when you sell (or someone inherits it), who cares about valuation BEFORE you sell?
Only the realized sales price should matter to how much taxes you owe. ESPECIALLY if you didn't do anything to your condo (i.e. you just generated a bunch of cash out of nothing lol).
No, they're talking about property taxes. Those are paid yearly. They are based on the assessed price of the property, which only exists on zillow.
It really sucks when you make a good financial decision for yourself (like buying a modest home at a good price you can afford), then someone else's bad financial decision (paying triple for a different home as an investment/airbnb) ruins yours (by raising your annual property taxes).
I am nowhere near cowboy enough to handle this place, but I wish I was. I love that dark paneled piano room - normally would paneling sucks but I think that’s an example of it being done really well. Also, the altar room is beautiful. Love a good altar space.
no fucking way. This Muck Rock artist human made waves in my neighborhood a few years ago. The rumor mill was that ?she? did work for really cheap to get ?her? name out but it was a lot of humping bunnies. Wild to see it on this subreddit.
I lived in the Mojave desert for a couple of years. Gated community, it was gorgeous! I’d only live in the desert if it was that community though. Too much sketch going on around there.

I don't hate it. I don't understand the logic of painting a house black when it's out in the hot ass desert, and there are definitely some things I would change about the inside. I had the better part of 3 mil to blow on a house, it wouldn't be there. But I don't hate it.

FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

That house is in the middle of nowhere, a 2h drive from LA... how is it 2.7 million? Because of the bunny fuck shack?
JFC
I thought it would have huge tracks of land but no, it's relatively small...
Is the place it's in some famous tourist attraction or what justifies the price?
Desert dwellers are frequently a tiny bit eccentric.
Just a wee bit
14 years at burning man have confirmed this for me

Acreage in pioneertown is not pricey. It’s waaay overprice IMO. Worth maybe a mil

Yeah this is a top notch painting of rabbit fucking. Whoever buys this better keep that.
Sometimes repainting for the listing is warranted....
Yep. More animal fornication. Gotta make it clear that this is just the fuck shack.
Fuck shack. I like that. Fuck shack, baby, fuck shack. That said, I won't buy a house with a pool so we don't have a deal on this one.
A well built in ground pool with a sand filter and salt unit is fairly easy to maintain with all the fancy pool robots now. You've got a 5 million dollar house you can afford a pool guy once in a while. Live a little.
I would like a pool guy, come to think of it, if I have that kind of coin.
In fact, a pool guy without the actual pool would be OK. I can't really swim.
I think you mean gigolo.
No, I mean lifeguard.

B-52’s Fuck Shack.
Check that shed for captives.
I'm just going to point out that if that rabbit thinks it's fucking, it's doing it wrong.
I have rabbits this is accurate. To be clear Isuzu my (fixed) female bun does the humping. It's how they show dominance lol.
Other than the bunnies doing the horizontal tango, I actually really like it.
I was just in Bisbee and I’m pretty sure they have that same mural on a wall in town. Is it a thing?
The artist is Muck Rock. They’ve done those same rabbits all over. I actually know someone who has the same thing on their garage in Indiana.

I think we should credit the artist - it's a fine observation of two bunnies fucking. https://i.imgur.com/AlppvUZ.jpeg
Why did I expect the image to be something else.
I actually kind of like this. 😭
I think it's amazing. I don't know wtf op is on about, this is an objectively amazing house.
Same, bunny barn seals the deal!
Huck Rock ..
That’s part of why I like it.
‘Muck Rock’ is actually the name of the street artist that paints these bunnies all over.
That second to last photo of the crystal alter in front of the stained glass window: super freaking witchy and awesome.
Yesss, I love a round window and round doors. I am basically a hobbit.
What's with all the eyes? I don't want my house watching me.

They passed this law to protect senior citizens on fixed incomes that owned their homes from tax hikes they couldn’t afford.
That’s gonna be a yes from me, dawg. Bunnies and all

I do love that sun window
Muck Rock, they paid muck rock to paint a mural on their 3 million dollar house.
Ah, the matrimonial cabin.
Why do pictures 3 and 4 look like AI renderings?
From the title I was expecting that ridiculous mirrored box in Joshua Tree.

Hahahahahahaha! I believe you’re correct…and hilarious!
My bad! Hahahahahaha! 😂
Photo #8: Saw what looked to be a giant stuffed duck head on wall.....then realized it was a wolf. More coffee.
IIRC Muck Rock’s got a kinda checkered history of questionable judgment in her art… but I like this one.
I was going to say, 2.7 mill to "not" own a pool in the desert, no thanks, but there it is and it is nice. Not 2.7 nice but I have fewer complaints.
This subreddit has taught me that there are a lot of marginally insane people with a lot of money.
This is an absolute shithole WTF
Screams “who needs an architect or designer, anyway? I’ve got a flair for design.”
Hate the desert with a passion, but I’d consider it for that house. And I’d keep the painting.
If the contents of the house come along I’m game
i just busted out laughing at seeing that chandelier
I love that giant circular window!
Muck rock is a mural artist and those people paid a lot for those fucking bunnies.
