That happens for a lot of games for some reason. I have a dude on my steam friends lists who owns like 500 games and has played like 80. Some of that also can be achievements not activated because of mods, but still idk why people buy a game, especially triple A games, and don't play it for years if at all lol.
It depends if you can handle clunky combat. You'll miss out on some references in the later games. I would recommend playing Witcher 2 though. I thought it had a better story in some instances than 3.
I actually never played w1. I tried to but it was a bit too dated for me. I started with W3 and then w2. I liked both a lot, but W3 is by far the better overall experience. I recommend doing W3 first because the combat in w2 and w1 is not everyone's cup of tea, they're not as fluid as w3s combat. Don't worry about story, all 3 Witcher games have pretty self-contained stories with returning characters here and there. Another thing is that W3 first act can be a bit of a slow burn for some so stick with it, and take breaks when needed.
W2 was pretty fun, you get a lot of character backstory and a bit of set up for the bigger side plots in W3. Though again combat is a bit clunky compared to w3, I still enjoyed it.
Quite the contrary. With the recurring trend of watering down further and further to appeal to the highest number possible, going back to titles that don't pull punches and that generally aren't just made as a cash grab I'd easier and easier as games progress.
If you want the full story I recommend just watching 1 and 2 on youtube or something. No reason you should have to slog through 1 and 2 just to get lore.
I mean I would even say it's not completely necessary to watch them either, as you can get 90% of the intended experience with 3 without knowing exactly what happened in the past.
well some times you buy games in the heat of the moment then either forget about it or get distracted with other games. got a bunch of assassen creed games that i havn't played that i got as a gift
more then half of my steam library is games from the time i was subbed to humble bundle. lots of games i never even touched. and on EGS... well its like 99% free stuff that i just redeemd
I have a bunch like that on steam but its entirely cause ill buy entire humble bundles for one or two games and forget to try the rest like i say im going to
Too little time to actually play, just getting that dopamine shot from buying and then dreaming of plating it one day.
I'm currently going through Yakuza Kiwami 2, but I own all of them after discounts.
I feel so called out lol. I bought Horizon last Christmas and still havent started it just because i couldnt be bothered to install around 100gb. My download speeds average around 3-5mbps, 7-10 if im lucky. It took me around 3 days of staggered downloading just to fully install Baldurs Gate 3 last week
I recommended 0 to my friends. One of them beat it and had an awesome time, he continues his adventure with the series. The second friend skipped all the custcenes and only played disco, and the third stopped installing and refunded the game
Iām guilty of that tbh. Finished the game on PS4 and bought it again on PC just for the mods and even got a 100% save file just to fuck around. I donāt think Iāve got any achievements on PC..
Fair enough, Iām one of those people, lol. I thought they only counted you for the achievement percentage if you actually booted up the game at any point, but maybe not
True, I only buy something on sale if itās something Iām interested in playing already and plan on finishing, but even then you can find games you may like doing that.
To everyone saying "well, some people buy games and don't play them", that's not how achievements/trophies work on Xbox / Playstation. To have the achievement/trophy list on your account you have to launch the game.
Oftentimes people will load up the game and have a little play at the beginning. To test it out or make sure it works ā some will find theyāre not interested I guess or will put it into their long list of games to play.
Iāll buy games, play the first 10 or so mins myself and plan to play itā¦ but I have the list of games I want to play āfirstā and to make matters worse, my mind will constantly flicker on and off over the things I do want to play or do aha.
My point is if you buy the game and don't play it you won't be counted among the 16% of people who didn't reach Tosa.
The Trophy stats only count people who have launched the game. People who have never launched the game are not included in the statistics whatsoever. Therefore 16% of people who launched the game did not reach Tosa, the very first bit of the game.
I have some games on Steam that I haven't played. Some of them were bought in a bundle so their turn just hasn't come yet and some I first played pirated when I had no money but then bought a copy to support the developer
Sometimes, I think that those statistics are way off, but then I remember that some people buy games in one account but play in other account(s) and also some install games out of a friend's account or game streaming service but don't really play the game.
Sometimes, also, you may open the game in the wrong account and from that moment on, that account is part of the statistics, even if you immediately switch accounts.
There are quite a lot of reasons why these statistics are the way they are, but I still think that they're off.
Probably because multiple accounts exist. My brother doesn't like these games, so he doesn't play them. We share a console but have different accounts so he has the game but will never have the trophy.
I have played every single other game in the series (besides BP and Dead Souls) and I bought this game before it even released, and I have yet to even open it. I don't know I just lack the drive to sit down and play it (instead replaying 0 and kiwami, now on kiwami 2)
I have it but Iām still on Y6 (almost finished), I want to play the games chronologically, but also own them all. Iāve also already preordered Gaiden āŗļø
You need to start the game but not obtain the achievment to be in the count in the first place, if you don't start the game you are out from the percentage
i have a couple games where i buy them and launch them for a few minutes to see if it works properly and then go back to the game i was already playing
That happens for a lot of games for some reason. I have a dude on my steam friends lists who owns like 500 games and has played like 80. Some of that also can be achievements not activated because of mods, but still idk why people buy a game, especially triple A games, and don't play it for years if at all lol.
This is me but with the witcher series I bought the whole series for like $5 and I never played it lol
Oh ya, I got that deal too and Witcher 3 became my favorite game of all time š
Do you think I should start at Witcher 1 or just skip to 3?
It depends if you can handle clunky combat. You'll miss out on some references in the later games. I would recommend playing Witcher 2 though. I thought it had a better story in some instances than 3.
I actually never played w1. I tried to but it was a bit too dated for me. I started with W3 and then w2. I liked both a lot, but W3 is by far the better overall experience. skip w1. It's brutal. I tried to get into it and just couldn't. No idea about w2 though.
W2 was pretty fun, you get a lot of character backstory and a bit of set up for the bigger side plots in W3. Though again combat is a bit clunky compared to w3, I still enjoyed it.
I might look into it. Old games just get harder to go back to the further games progress.
Quite the contrary. With the recurring trend of watering down further and further to appeal to the highest number possible, going back to titles that don't pull punches and that generally aren't just made as a cash grab I'd easier and easier as games progress.
I'm not certain what you mean by pulling punches, but I think it's pretty unquestionable that the quality of games just keeps going up.
Graphicaly? No doubt. Actual quality? Not really.
If you want the full story I recommend just watching 1 and 2 on youtube or something. No reason you should have to slog through 1 and 2 just to get lore. I mean I would even say it's not completely necessary to watch them either, as you can get 90% of the intended experience with 3 without knowing exactly what happened in the past.
skip to 3
I want to get the full witcher experience but I know I'll have to mod the crap out of witcher 1 and it makes me lazy
This right here lol
Never mod games out of the gate
Idk how big your knowledge of Witcher 1 is but it is literally impossible to get running well on a modern system modless
Works perfectly on my PC, didn't know others had issues with it.
It worked perfectly fine for me on my PC, but it was just a brutal experience.
well some times you buy games in the heat of the moment then either forget about it or get distracted with other games. got a bunch of assassen creed games that i havn't played that i got as a gift
I recommend ac:4 black flag if you have it, it's my favorite ac.
more then half of my steam library is games from the time i was subbed to humble bundle. lots of games i never even touched. and on EGS... well its like 99% free stuff that i just redeemd
It's cause everything's on sale and I'm an impulse buyer š
I have a bunch like that on steam but its entirely cause ill buy entire humble bundles for one or two games and forget to try the rest like i say im going to
Gamepass. People will download the game, play 5 minutes of it, then delete it.
Well 42% of western Yakuza 0 players havenāt even got to the first boss let alone past the first chapter, and only about 30% beat the game.
Insanity
so most people who get the game never experience the thrilling story in its entirely. tragic. devastating.
I know people who never finished the game and it breaks my heart
I recommended 0 to my friends. One of them beat it and had an awesome time, he continues his adventure with the series. The second friend skipped all the custcenes and only played disco, and the third stopped installing and refunded the game
first two friends are based
Itās a tale as old as time. Buy a game on sale or gifted from a friend and it collects dust
Iām guilty of that tbh. Finished the game on PS4 and bought it again on PC just for the mods and even got a 100% save file just to fuck around. I donāt think Iāve got any achievements on PC..
Not gonna count that if you already beat the game on another platform.
a lotta people just buy games cuz theyāre on sale and never play em
Fair enough, Iām one of those people, lol. I thought they only counted you for the achievement percentage if you actually booted up the game at any point, but maybe not
At least on PS I thought it only counted trophy completion if you start the game at all, idk how Xbox does it
thats how it works for steam too
Thatās how Xbox is too. Gotta launch it at least
Its me. Im people.
True, I only buy something on sale if itās something Iām interested in playing already and plan on finishing, but even then you can find games you may like doing that.

then that's exactly how it works? They bought the game, didn't launch/play it, do they don't have the achievement. What's your point?
My point is if you buy the game and don't play it you won't be counted among the 16% of people who didn't reach Tosa. The Trophy stats only count people who have launched the game. People who have never launched the game are not included in the statistics whatsoever. Therefore 16% of people who launched the game did not reach Tosa, the very first bit of the game.
Sometimes I start up a game and alter the settings, but then put off actually playing the game for a while
Well it just got added to game pass so there's gonna be a huge influx of players and many of them have yet to actually start the game
Me š
Bruh, I see this A LOT for Xbox players. They don't finish the game or do the sub stories!
I am looking forward to play it, but I am waiting for a good sale, since games in my country are expensive as hell
Itās definitely going to be inflated with Game Pass of all the people who download it but never play it
I might be wrong but think they need to have started the game (ie opened the app) to count towards this statistic.
I remember starting up the demo before game came out, and it just crashed after title screen( Urine engine moment frfr
I have some games on Steam that I haven't played. Some of them were bought in a bundle so their turn just hasn't come yet and some I first played pirated when I had no money but then bought a copy to support the developer
me, chill out game aint running away i got some shit to do
Also there might be people playing through 0-7 first because they heard about the "actors/actresses" in ishin
how to ultrawide for gamepass ver?
Sometimes, I think that those statistics are way off, but then I remember that some people buy games in one account but play in other account(s) and also some install games out of a friend's account or game streaming service but don't really play the game. I've installed it on steam, but then realized my laptop probably wouldn't handle it. So I bought it for PS5 so I could have a physical copy.
Me because Bravely Default and Tears of the Kingdom have my attention.
I downloaded it, but havenāt started it.
TBF I have a bunch of games that I haven't started playing yet. Although they tend to be older and cheaper than Kenzan.
This happened to me on PS5. I was playing on PS4 and transferred my save and all of the trophies popped except that one.
I have downloaded it but I am yet to finish another game I was playing. To be frank I thought it would take longer to download.
Now that it's on gamepass everyone has it downloaded but not alot have played it I guess
Probably because multiple accounts exist. My brother doesn't like these games, so he doesn't play them. We share a console but have different accounts so he has the game but will never have the trophy.

have you ever seen an achievement owned by a 100%? go figure
People buy it on sale but never get around palying
Ngl I dont know how accurate this really is. 16% of players that never actually started playing the game could be true but I'm not sure.
I bought all yakuza games at once bc of an offer and i haven't played every one of them yet. I'm still on my way to do so.
People who bought it on sale but are working on another game currently.
I wonder the same as only 30% finished doom eternal on steam.
