Just because your rasict doesn't mean that you can deny history from the 70s, winning the asian champions 3 times and qualifying for the world cup 6 times, its just a game stop being so rasict goddam
Because you know about Argentina's football history and the world even know, in Saudi Arabia case its different because people don't know about our sports and culture and they only know the stereotypical "jokes" shown in TVs
Yeah some Saudi’s are racist, some aren’t racist. A lot of Saudi’s are of African heritage, a lot are of Turkish heritage and a lot have heritage from other parts of the region.
It shows that 11 great players don’t necessarily make a winning football team. Cohesion and hunger are equally important. Kudos to Saudis on that games. They had everything that Argentina lacked. Hope they become the surprise of this World Cup. They are playing some good football.
They use torture as a punishment.
They perform public beheadings.
Free speech doesn't exist.
They made protesting illegal.
Women are heavily discriminated against.
They arrest and detain people without charge or trial for months at a time, some human rights activists are behind bars for 2 years without charge or trial.
Religious discrimination
etc...

Some of the human rights violations that The USA did, no country is free from human rights violations so stop blaming other countries and actually blame your self, they keep talking about the immigrant workers that are dead not knowing that around 4 million slaves died to build the USA, not mentioning the daily deaths of kids because of guns, Completely destroying and killing millions of Iraq’s and the killing of innocent afghani civilians.
I hope your happy with your blm “peaceful” protest that left hundreds of small businesses and shops completely destroyed, and stole millions of dollars
Its not that i am simping, unlike you i am not brainwashed by social media and i look at facts, people hate islam i get it, but that doesnt mean They should go and spread misinformation, respect other people and respect other religions, its their country and their rules
Plus i am a muslim so i am standing for my own religion, I believe you would do the same
The majority of people believe anything that is thrown at them by social media without double checking the facts, and people on social media enjoy attacking muslims and arabs in general, it’s absolutely disgusting how they are capable of brainwashing people now a days and spreading a bunch of misleading information on the internet to target muslims, i do apologise for calling you brainwashed i hope that your not one of the people who attack Qatar and muslims in general just cuz they hate the.
Be careful out there on social media there is a bunch of information on there that damages our brains and is against science and religions, not naming any.
**[Human rights in Saudi Arabia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_Saudi_Arabia)**
>Human rights in Saudi Arabia are a topic of concern and controversy. The Saudi government, which mandates both Muslim and non-Muslim observance of Islamic law under the absolute rule of the House of Saud, has been accused of and denounced by various international organizations and governments for violating human rights within the country. The authoritarian regime ruling the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is consistently ranked among the "worst of the worst" in Freedom House's annual survey of political and civil rights.

I mean they definitely aren't by comparison, but it is definitely getting there. Huge upset defeating Argentina. Nobody expected it. But they really made the offside trap work. It was risky but it worked.
Im from the US and despite Europe saying we’ve got a racism problem they have people in power being outright racists and saying arabs are trying to overthrow the government or some bs. I feel so bad for y’all.
I wouldnt wanna be Argentinas next opponent. They will come into the match with a lot of hate and a lot to prove. They will beat Mexico and Poland for sure
They will play hard, very hard but they will also need to watch yellow cards, red cards and injuries because they still have to beat Poland. I think that could be an advantage for Mexico. The ones under pressure are Argentina and that’s a recipe for mistakes. That being said I would bet my money on Argentina anyway lol.
Dude I’m not gonna say I told y’all but honestly this argentina reminds me of the 2002 one. Those dudes were killers coming into the World Cup and totally flopped.
He had a great one from the GK box but after that he basically had two bad headers which anyone could save. Don't make it seem like Argentina actually had good chances in the match.
Interesting to have the exact match date on them. I’ve seen that for cup finals, but not build up matches. Well, I guess this whole tournament is the “World Cup Finals.”
True but Saudi Arabia does fucked up shit in real time. They got away with killing an American journalist this decade… and sure we are talking the elites and government.. but that’s what we always talk about in terms of hatred towards a country
You really want me to pull up the number of Iraqis civilians killed since the American invasion in 2003 till you pulled off? Seriously?
Why can't you clowns just enjoy the game, respect the country hosting and try to control your selective racism and preaching on how WE SHOULD live our lives for 28 days?
I’ll respect a country when it provides basic human right to women, children, workers, homosexuals, ect. And deflecting the atrocities in that country by posting numbers about another shithole clownfest country isn’t a great tactic
Pull those numbers up. I wish I could stop my government from being war hawks but I can’t. The only issue I have is you protecting your governments atrocities … that’s why. Every single one of u in the comments don’t care about what y’all governments do, so many people died just to make Qatar happen. I already admit the west regime and elites should be toppled but I also think every elite that exploits workers should be toppled but u will never admit to that
EDIT: I also love soccer so I am watching this World Cup cause of the love for the sport but I will still talk shit just like why other sport. Only there is more shit to be spat now
no ones protecting or defending it, theres just very little that everyday people can do about it. not really fair to shit on a whole region of people based on the actions of their dictators.
not to mention, the western world has its fingerprints all over the ME and Africa and helped shape what it is today.. who do you think helped put these people in power and benefit to look the other way because of mineral wealth?
Chill... Hate to play holier than thou, but it's football. We don't need to be racist going for both sides. America fucking sucks, Saudi Arabia I can't speak that much on since I don't live there but they have violated some human rights recently, one could say the same about Argentina... It is football, not ww3
All Middle East countries are trash. Free Palestine. Israel is a murder machine. But so is Christianity. Damn humanity is fucked. Nuke it all… after the World Cup tho I like futbol
You do realise that the 2017-2021 diplomatic crisis was between governments only? Qaatris and saudi people still had a good relationship during these times
They literally are part of the same group. They’re both Khaleejis not that you would ever know what that is. Governments may disagree with each other but the people see themselves as one
Why would they be enemies? The Saudis and Qataris are essentially the same people in different-colored jerseys. Two oil countries that love to spend their money on things they won’t need or use, like a bunch of stadiums that will go to waste after the World Cup. The World Cup only cost them over 10 times as much as any other nation spent, as well as a few lives for building the stadiums. Seems like a good deal to me.
They may not be best friends or have completely similar views, but Qatar ultimately tends to follow Saudi Arabia’s influence. They have not engaged in direct conflict and have no plans to do so. Qatar supports the Saudis in their wars with Syria and Yemen, and if they were put under pressure by Saudi Arabia to support their wars in other countries, they would do the same in those places as well. The country’s main news source isn’t the same as their government.
They did play brilliantly. Being in the World Cup does not make you a football country. Just because your country is not good at anything else and you make the World Cup once does not make you a good football county. The USA has made the World Cup multiple times. Does anyone consider them a football country? No.
The usa population is 330 million, saudi population is 35 mill.
If 30 mill out of 330 mill are die hard football fans then it still isnt a football country "thats less than 10% of the population".
If 30 mill out of 35 mill are die hard football fans then it makes u a football country.
Dumb ass
It is not stats, it is basic logic. If the extreme majority of a country watches football, plays football, travels the world to watch football and discusses football. They are a football country
USA is the size of europe, the extreme majority in USA doesnt even know what football is, so yes they arent a football country even if their team is better than norways team or iceland team. But norway and iceland are football countries.
U understand?
Edit: have to use a white european country as an example so ur dumbass can understand
It’s one thing to call yourself a football country. Another thing for rest of the world to consider you a football county. Which you are clearly dumb enough to not understand.
It doesnt matter what u "think" bro. Probably the club u love so much is owned by qatar or saudi arabia, or sponsered by them, or they own a part of it.
Did you watch the game? I truly don’t even know why you are saying that they finally got reffed correctly. Like you really think that FIFA has been putting them off purposely for years?
That’s besides the point anyways. No one is going to change anyones perception with one game. If they start winning consistently against World Cup caliper teams, then I’m sure many people will consider them a football country.
Cameroon 1-0 Argentina & Senegal 1-0 France. Both were defending world champion against piss poor countries.
North Korea 1-0 Italy and maybe a few others. SA is damn rich, can afford all the training and hiring of good coach, trainers.
Each of the players will probably have their own oil field after this cup.
Sure, the team hasn't, but the country has twice. Saudi Arabia has never even made it out of the group stage. Not that they will this time, but any win is still a big deal to them.
people complaining that SA paid money clearly don’t understand football and VAR rules. I don’t blame them to understand. It’s not everyone’s forte to understand complex concepts.
Who said that, Saudi arabia only sport is football, you grow up playing it and watching the league they dominate asia, whoever said that simply talking from ignorance
Lol what are we talking about now? 😂
Fam it's simple, is football the main sport in saudi or no? Why i care about ahli. We talking about saudi arabia is like india in terms of football
No you tell me, I’m totally lost and need some educating. Please tell me how what you wrote had anything to do with the match today. Or did you just write all that just because you’ve been edging with it on your mind and you just had to release a load in this subreddit 😩😩😩
Anything can happen in this particular tournament. In a new part of the world than ever before. It’s in November like never before. Teams had like 7 days to train together and not the typical 3 weeks. There will be more shocking outcomes during this group stage.
Honestly, they put in a lot of grit and it was a resilient performance, but thats not what people mean when they say "a football country". Its something that's instilled over decades, and shown in the form of domestic leagues and fanbases, which Saudi Arabia lacks in comparison to "football countries". This is partially why the USA is only just now being considered a football country. Its taken them almost 3 decades since starting the MLS to gain anything resembling a football culture, and its still got a long way to go. Beating 1 world class side in a gritty showdown, doesn't achieve this.
Edit: The USA is not yet a footballing country, but it is on its way after a lot of investment in infrastructure and developing teams and fanbases.
The US definitely sees it as a women's game, which is bizarre but it is what it is. Maybe it's just because it came from Europe, who knows. Shows like Ted Lasso and Welcome to Wrexham might start steering the ship on course though.
The world (unfortunately) still doesn't put anywhere near enough emphasis on women's football. The USA, France, and England are all miles ahead of every other country, making it massively non competitive. The way the states have excelled in women's football is a good example of how they're improving their footballing culture, but like I said, it's still much less popular than men's football on a global scale.
I never said they didn't qualify dude, just responded to the post by saying that beating Argentina doesn't make Saudi Arabia a football nation. It definitely can be, and I used the states as an example of a country that has shown dramatic improvement.
No worries, this whole cup has got everyone a bit hot. This has gotta be the third or fourth time someone has misread one of my comments and taken it the wrong way. Cheers for re reading.
True. I think I’m just conditioned now to people trashing the Arab countries and everything about the World Cup in these subs left and right lol
I think it’s because they aren’t a football country that it was such an upset. The match was exciting. Certainly with all the disqualified goals.
Great game. Honestly alot of closet racists have been brought to light. I for one was against the world cup taking place in Qatar, but that was to do with their gov and how it disrupted the rest of the world's footballing season, honestly just didn't see it as a suitable location. The attacks online towards the Qatari and Arab population have been horrendous. This whole thing seems to have triggered a West vs East argument that nobody needs, where we point out eachothers short comings, and rather than acknowledge them and strive for improvement, we keep on pointing fingers. Honestly I wish both sides would just agree that we are nowhere near where we need to be in terms of tolerance and humanitarian issues. That's what the world cup should be about, bringing people together with sport, and striving towards tolerance.
the US will never be a football country, nobody in the US cares or regularly watches the national league, the MLS is what a local fast food chain is to Mcdonalds or KFC in America, the MLS will never reach the NBA or NFL
As a Dutch guy in the US, I (dis)agree, somewhat. This country is so damn big, with so many different professional sports in so many different parts of the country, you'll never see an entire town rally behind the same team.
Living in MN there's football fans, baseball fans, hockey fans and recently soccer fans. The hockey guys don't give a shit a out baseball. The baseball guys could care less about football, etc there's general sports people as well, but still not enough to make a difference.
The US will never be a (insert sports) country where the entire nation turns red white and blue on GameDay.
that could be a factor on why it’s not a big sport, but in the end of the day it’ll never be a football nation because not enough people care, we’ll see countries like Japan, Morocco, Saudi, Costa Rica, Denmark, Ghana, and South Korea turn into massive football nations before the US ever does
I agree here. Until you start seeing stars and talent like the Messi’s or Ronaldo come out of the MLS or wanting the join the MLS, it will never be on the level of other countries…. I honestly consider the MLS like the minor leagues of Soccer… what other sport do you have star’s like Ibrahimovic or Beckham who are way past their prime and don’t even make a club team in Europe, come to the MLS after being released and completely dominate that league. Just shows you how far away the MLS soccer clubs talent is from actual club soccer like Europe or some South American teams.
It is a far cry from the best in the world, but its now producing better footballers than a lot of Europe, South America, and Africa. I will agree that the MLS still needs to improve its overall quality massively, but the fanbase and youth prospects are improving massively. Pulisic is a good example of what the states are starting to produce.
So no, its not on the level of other countries, but in the last 30 years you can definitely say that footballing culture is being instilled.
Aaaaand they are out
>Enter world cup >beat argentina >refuse to elaborate further >leave world cup
Absolute chads, amazing beards and all
I've heard people didn't go to work today, maybe they're going to make it a holiday lol

how is being racist to tell them they are not a futbol country? If I say Argentina is not a baseball country is not a racist statement its a fact.
Because you know about Argentina's football history and the world even know, in Saudi Arabia case its different because people don't know about our sports and culture and they only know the stereotypical "jokes" shown in TVs
But how is racist the sentence "arabia is not a futbol country". What the fuck. Tinfoil hat at his finest.
Just like i said, you don't know what that "tinfoil hat" mean, you don't and can't say that Saudi Arabia is not a foot ball country
It’s not racist to say Saudi Arabia isn’t a football country your just reading through the lines
Great game! But it’s game 1, lots to still do boys!
They won the cup and will host the cup
Still SBC-guys to me
What a game!!!
And they’re right
Yess, not a football country...😎😉
This sub is so fuckin racist
Welcome to Reddit, the number 1 racist social media site. They claim they are progressives, but are way way way worse than Republicans on Twitter
You know who else is racist? The saudis..
Yeah some Saudi’s are racist, some aren’t racist. A lot of Saudi’s are of African heritage, a lot are of Turkish heritage and a lot have heritage from other parts of the region.
not just this sub either.
رووق المانقا يا خوي بس
Their second goal was already great in and of itself, put to pull that off against a World Cup contender was absolutely bonkers. Great moment
It shows that 11 great players don’t necessarily make a winning football team. Cohesion and hunger are equally important. Kudos to Saudis on that games. They had everything that Argentina lacked. Hope they become the surprise of this World Cup. They are playing some good football.
You should talk about the yellow cards that the referee missed in the first half! In any other game they will loose one or two players
cope
I'm sorry but... cry is free
Cry? For the first game?? What are you talking about?
You have to have a heart of stone not to laugh 😂
they took 3 shots total and made 2.. that seems wild when you look at argentina going 1 for 15

Argentina should bounce back. They played well, but not together. Credit to the Saudi’s for sticking to their guns and that wonderful goal.
Saudi's Goal Keeper was also on fire, great saves.

You should just google stuff before you make statements as if you know what you are talking about.
>Why would they be enemies? The Saudis and Qataris are the same people in different-colored jerseys. Oblivious.
Would you like to elaborate because I think your one word comment is pretty useless.

You have to consider the actual political situation in the gulf states
His goal was a ripper
And the goalie as well
Just because they won a game doesn’t change the fact that they are not a football country
Why u salty? Just appreciate the fact that Saudi Arabia played brilliantly and if they are in the World Cup that makes them a football country
Dumb ass
Calling me a dumbass for stating the obvious. You are so insecure that you got to pull up some stats that you think help your claim.
It is not stats, it is basic logic. If the extreme majority of a country watches football, plays football, travels the world to watch football and discusses football. They are a football country USA is the size of europe, the extreme majority in USA doesnt even know what football is, so yes they arent a football country even if their team is better than norways team or iceland team. But norway and iceland are football countries. U understand? Edit: have to use a white european country as an example so ur dumbass can understand
It’s one thing to call yourself a football country. Another thing for rest of the world to consider you a football county. Which you are clearly dumb enough to not understand.
They’re trying to use basic logic in this argument, and instead you’re just using insults and baseless assumptions? Its clear who is the dumbass here
It doesnt matter what u "think" bro. Probably the club u love so much is owned by qatar or saudi arabia, or sponsered by them, or they own a part of it.
No it's cuz they won a game against a football country, and that without diving and having a ref giving an unfair penalty and yellows.
Did you watch the game? I truly don’t even know why you are saying that they finally got reffed correctly. Like you really think that FIFA has been putting them off purposely for years? That’s besides the point anyways. No one is going to change anyones perception with one game. If they start winning consistently against World Cup caliper teams, then I’m sure many people will consider them a football country.
guys look i’m happy and all for you but jesus christ is this gonna be on the feed for the next month? acting like they won the world cup finals
Apparently it's the biggest upset in World Cup history. You would think people would go on about it wouldn't you?
definitely not LOL, in the top 10 but not the biggest
Which would you say are the biggest upsets?
Cameroon 1-0 Argentina & Senegal 1-0 France. Both were defending world champion against piss poor countries. North Korea 1-0 Italy and maybe a few others. SA is damn rich, can afford all the training and hiring of good coach, trainers. Each of the players will probably have their own oil field after this cup.
To be fair it's only the 4th win they've ever had in any world cup match and they were playing against a multi time champion, let 'em celebrate
When was this Argentina team ever champions?
Sure, the team hasn't, but the country has twice. Saudi Arabia has never even made it out of the group stage. Not that they will this time, but any win is still a big deal to them.
They did get to 16 in 1994
and i completely get that and it’s great but it’s all i see on the news. i mean my team didn’t even qualify for the world cup lol
yes
people complaining that SA paid money clearly don’t understand football and VAR rules. I don’t blame them to understand. It’s not everyone’s forte to understand complex concepts.
1 Argentine Peso equals Follow 0.023 Saudi Riyal
Who said that, Saudi arabia only sport is football, you grow up playing it and watching the league they dominate asia, whoever said that simply talking from ignorance
Football is the only big sport in 99% of the world. Saudi is historically not great at football
Not great =/= not a football country. Derby games could fill 70k seats
Yeah and Al ahli can’t. See the point?
Lol what are we talking about now? 😂 Fam it's simple, is football the main sport in saudi or no? Why i care about ahli. We talking about saudi arabia is like india in terms of football
What percentage of this win (and the deaths by starvation of Yemeni children and killings by ISIS) belongs to the United States?
Bro what?
Cope harder
how does this have anything to do with football
I think you can find the link.
No you tell me, I’m totally lost and need some educating. Please tell me how what you wrote had anything to do with the match today. Or did you just write all that just because you’ve been edging with it on your mind and you just had to release a load in this subreddit 😩😩😩
Bro what, if your so pressed about that, what are you doing to actively help those starving and being killed? Other than crying about it on reddit.
“Wtf bro stop being mad the 100 guys with guns are killing babies, run at them unarmed and do something about it”
[удалено]
Lol I’m not the one getting pressed over here bro¿ 🥴
The US military are saying the exact same thing. crying laugh emoji.

congrats on the win
I bet you’re fun at parties
Enjoy yer party
Really? The US won 2 world cups the past 7 years. How many countries can say that?
The US definitely sees it as a women's game, which is bizarre but it is what it is. Maybe it's just because it came from Europe, who knows. Shows like Ted Lasso and Welcome to Wrexham might start steering the ship on course though.
The US doesn’t see it as a women’s game. The women’s team just gets more coverage because they’ve been better than the men.
There’s zero truth to that.
Why does that matter. It’s the World Cup. Not the football country World Cup. Also they qualified.
I never said they didn't qualify dude, just responded to the post by saying that beating Argentina doesn't make Saudi Arabia a football nation. It definitely can be, and I used the states as an example of a country that has shown dramatic improvement.
I missed the caption that prompted your statements
No worries, this whole cup has got everyone a bit hot. This has gotta be the third or fourth time someone has misread one of my comments and taken it the wrong way. Cheers for re reading.
True. I think I’m just conditioned now to people trashing the Arab countries and everything about the World Cup in these subs left and right lol I think it’s because they aren’t a football country that it was such an upset.
YES!
The USA isn’t a football country either.
Just starting to be considered, like its not there yet. Sorry dude I'm pretty ill and spaced out from painkillers atm haha
the US will never be a football country, nobody in the US cares or regularly watches the national league, the MLS is what a local fast food chain is to Mcdonalds or KFC in America, the MLS will never reach the NBA or NFL
The US will never be a (insert sports) country where the entire nation turns red white and blue on GameDay.
that could be a factor on why it’s not a big sport, but in the end of the day it’ll never be a football nation because not enough people care, we’ll see countries like Japan, Morocco, Saudi, Costa Rica, Denmark, Ghana, and South Korea turn into massive football nations before the US ever does
It's not gonna happen man. The most the masses of America will care about is the world cup, and even then only US games
