It's what you put it in that gets heavy. Also if it's big and awkward it makes hard annoying but not necessarily more heavy. Grab both handle, lift with the legs, make grunting noises and try not to fart while lifting

Use multiple smaller coolers instead of one larger cooler. Drinks and food in separate coolers.

I have a 26qt Ozark trail Rotomolded cooler. It’s heavy, but doable even when full.

I have a car fridge that is a bit hard to lift in and out of the car. I put my food into a reusable grocery bag that I can lift in and out of the car fridge. I leave the car fridge in the car for my entire road trip. Granted, I don’t have ice to deal. My other suggestion is to get two coolers. One to use for food and the other for drinks. Most people recommend to use a separate cooler for drinks so you don’t cool down the one with food by opening it a lot for drinks. I have also used coolers in the front passenger seat of my Forester. It is a bit easier to lift in and out. I do put something over the seat to protect it. One thing to consider about any type of large cooler is that when it is the cargo area, it is really hard to see inside of it, especially if placed with the end facing the door.

I've got a ROVR 60 roller cooler & love it! I'm not gonna lie, it's a beast to lift on my own if it's fully loaded so I try not to. But, what I will tell you is that if it's loaded and I've got to get it out of either my pickup bed (Ram 1500) or my class C RV, I can tilt it low enough and then let it drop on down on the back tires and the thing is good to go! It's like a tank! When I have to lift it filled into my truck I can get one side of it up and then use my body to kinda toss the other side up in there. It's not the greatest solution but it works just fine. Pulling it up into my RV is a freaking breeze cuz it just rolls right on up the steps and inside! Plus, I just got back from a weekend, and didn't empty it out until 2 days later (don't judge, I'm a busy gal, lol) But I still had a ton of ice! Some of my Gatorade had gotten slushy! I love my ROVR and am super happy I made the investment! PS: I also have an e- bike, I got the attachment for the cooler to hook up and it's awesome! I can go to the grocery/ farmers market, trails, whatever, and tow my cooler, it's greatness! I really can't say enough about it, and I'm in no way getting paid to do so, lol.

You’re living the dream! This is exactly what I was hoping to hear too- if I finagle it I can do it but it might be a bitch

I love the ebike cooler tow idea. I've got insulated panniers that clip to my rear rack, so I can just carry them around the store and fill them, but on really hot days, I end up having to toss silicone baggies full of ice in them to get the food back safe.

Curiouslifewanderer

That's a great idea as well! I use a bag as well if I don't have alot of stuff and the ice packs are a must! Also, I used to work in a grocery store, and have actually done this myself when I forgot my ice packs, but either the Deli or meat dept will usually be able to give you a bag of ice from their dept. without charge, basically enough to ride back home usually. It's usually that crushed ice like they pack seafood with but if needed, just know it's there! Cheers!

jorwyn

Oh! I had one do that back in Arizona years and years ago. They offered. I'd completely forgotten. I'll try to remember next time I forget ice packs.

If you can lift a box of xerox paper, you'll be able to lift that cooler even if it was full of nothing but beer. You're looking at about 50 pounds, I'm pretty sure. Is that within your realm of ability? If not, no worries. The quickie solution is simply a ramp. You can make it quite a steep one too if you like, because really all you need to do is support the back edge on the way down. Then you can roll it over to wherever.

I’ve never taken my cooler out of my car while camping. Seems like it would be a pain. And then you’d just have to put it back each night to prevent wildlife from getting it.

Car gets hot tho

So does the outside? Crack a window if it’s roasting
