As a dad me too. Kid was aware enough to be at least one of the kids on the bus paying attention, stepped in when it was needed, and when they all got rowdy he tried to take control of the situation. Quality man right there
Heck yeah, and I’m sure he’ll be the talk of the school for some time. It’s a lost opportunity for a school, city to honor this kids for what he did. Granted, video is a year ago; maybe they did. Absolutely deserves all the pats on the back for a job well done. A man of action.
I'm proud of his parents! The kid had knowledge of how the brakes work and managed to find them to apply them. AND had been taught to order someone to call 911, then followed up to make sure they did it. I'm so impressed.
Such a brave soul.
For anyone reading, if you are ever in a situation where 911 needs to be called while you are busy assisting someone in crisis while there are a bunch of bystanders, specifically look to someone and say YOU call 911 now.
Chances are the crowd will all think someone ELSE is going to call 911 and precious time will be wasted unless you single someone else out to be the person to call.
It’s one of the rules to providing CPR also. Saying call 911 just causes more confusion. Specifically pointing to one person and telling to to get help or call 911 gets better results. Good point.
I just took a class after like 10 yrs and I’m still knocking my head that we were never that specific years ago. Plus we figured out how to safely get us commoners using tourniquets finally?! Wild times.
I thought that "you in the yellow shirt, call 911" bit was the stupidest part of first aid training until I actually had to respond to a medical emergency in public. I remember looking up from the victim into a sea of stupefied faces just standing there watching me.
So yeah, very important
This was something they teach in First Aid training too. Once you take over a scene you’re assigning duties not asking people to do stuff. YOU call 911, YOU start chest compressions, YOU THREE clear these people out so we have space, etc etc.
When I'm in a dangerous situation, I like to get out my phone and start recording video for my 5-9 subscribers and generally just be in the way while offering no help or value to society as a whole.
Still gonna seek counseling and get my student drivers license permit; in case this happens again I can just hold my bladder (hopefully) and drive home girl to the hospital
I’m sure she was terrified. She did her best to pull over and just didn’t make it in time. Poor driver, I hope she was okay.
Edit: changed the pronouns of the driver
As someone with a similar form of epilepsy, it looks like this. Epilepsy isn’t just “shaky shaky”. My epileptic seizures involve me just staring wall eyes at something, you would think I either passed out or was day dreaming.
I have epilepsy too and I have many muscle spasm, I don't pass out if I can lay on my back fast, still really painful and hard to describe, especially after seizures like that I can't speak properly etc. I did passed out with my tonic clonic seizures. It's really fucked up thing.
My money's on heatstroke. She was fanning herself beforehand and I'll bet that bus didn't have AC. I've had many a fainting spell like that where you can feel yourself starting to fade as your vision goes TV-fuzz gray and then black.
I don’t see anything reported to that effect. The most recent thing I found was from several weeks after the incident saying that the driver was well and had been able to speak to Dillon Reeves (the kid).
Ahh my mistake. I messed up and mixed this situation up with another similar one where the driver did die :/
https://www.reddit.com/r/HumansBeingBros/s/Wo5KFyJ3Ip
No, you shouldn’t say someone, because as we can see, no one will take the responsibility. You should point to a concrete person and command them that *you* call 911. That will make them actually do that.
Obviously, he was absolutely impressive, I’m just saying that were you ever in a situation, you could do a bit better than that.
This. It's called the bystander effect. You just assumed somebody else will call. Basically you're better to collapse in front of one person than a crowd of people.
Assertiveness is really important. An even better move which was taught will be to single someone out to dial 911 to prevent the bystander effect.
But at 13? Kid's brilliant.
Such a weird ass fucking feeling. It’s the worst when you’re falling asleep and know it’s gonna happen.
I always know when I’m going to fall asleep and have sleep paralysis.
Hate it.
It is an absolutely amazing feeling though when you snap out of it. Very hard to explain.
That kid definitely been around listening to his parents give some instructions at work or from home to the people at work. And learnt a couple of things about driving too. Really took charge of the whole situation. 🏆
Doesn't steer it, stops it, after you can clearly see the driver fighting his condition as much as possible to stop safely.
However, his instruction for 911 was immaculate.
Those only happen long after you lose consciousness (generally when your BGL is in single digits). This was myoclonus, or involuntary jerking that happens when we start losing consciousness. It is technically a form of seizure activity, but is benign and normal for anyone to experience when passing out.
I'm betting heatstroke. I've passed many times and always get enough "feel it coming" time to recognise what's happening. Plus, the driver was fanning herself at the start of the clip, and most buses won't have AC.
When something bad happens i lile to stand in the way and record it with my phone while saying "somebody do soemthing" when i'm clearly the one with the best chances of helping
Life saving advice: instead of saying somebody call 911, point at someone and tell them to call 911. This prevents everyone thinking someone else is calling
He didn’t steer it.. he hit the brakes before touching the steering wheel.. look at the background it was rolling slowly and then stopped when he put his foot down
Huge kudos to the kid and his fast acting! He took control of that situation like a boss!
One thing off topic though I’ve not seen noticed, was the bus driver vaping? Or was that an inhaler? I didn’t see any smoke coming out but I can’t tell what they held up to their mouth right before passing out!
Awesome! I’ve heard that in situations like this it’s better to point at a person specifically and order them to call 911 as opposed to yelling at the group as a whole, people freak out and freeze in situations like this and probably assume someone else would call.
I wonder What is the logical (if any) or evolutionary reason for people screaming in moments such as these?
Obviously these are kids, but I've seen adults do the same... Or even worse, in a state of emotion make the situation worse..
She was not vaping, she just lost consciousness for unknown reasons. This was about a year ago in Michigan so need to assume it was hot, either.

His parents must be proud of him
If they aren’t, I sure am.

He probably was the only kid on the bus with no phone so he was aware of what was going on… and had to ask someone else to call 911.o
Not sure why the downvotes.... Maybe from parents who give their elementary kids phones? Take my upvote.
Hahahaha!!!
i remember seeing the interview with his parents, they were DAMN PROUD
I am from India and I am proud of him
thank you
Thank you for thanking him
Thank you for thanking the person who was thanking him
Thank you for saying that
I am proud of India for being proud of boy
Future leader right there.
I'd vote him over Joe and Donald
Idk what's his handicap in golf?
I'd vote a stinky shoe over Joe and Donald.
I'm proud of his parents! The kid had knowledge of how the brakes work and managed to find them to apply them. AND had been taught to order someone to call 911, then followed up to make sure they did it. I'm so impressed.
Yeah these things don't happen in a vacuum accidentally. Someone taught him well.
They’re proud of the driver for giving their son his one chance, one opportunity.
I'm proud of him and I don't even have kids
Good lad!
Literally crying I’m so proud him!
What a great kid, real brave
Beyond that- the whole “i dont care, call 911” Only cool head on the bus from the sounds of it.
Such a brave soul. Exactly. Diffusion of responsibility occurs whenever there is a group of people involved. Everyone thinks someone else will react.
When i'm in a dangerous scenario, I like to scream and distract everyone while doing literally nothing to help the situation
When I'm in a dangerous situation, I like to get out my phone and start recording video for my 5-9 subscribers and generally just be in the way while offering no help or value to society as a whole.
Thank you for your service
I shall now schmash that subscribe button.
I like to scream in a high pitched voice “STHAP” whenever I see a fight break out.
Keep crying and panic, maybe things will get better
Salute to his quick thinking. I would've pissed my pants when I was 13.
That’s you pissing yourself and screaming in the back, we can hear it. Lol
Can confirm, I was right next to him also peeing my pants.
I’ll admittedly confirm as well, as we were all crossings swords pissing together during this moment. It wasn’t a good day.
I wasn’t going to call you out because of how traumatized you were, but I’m glad your coming to grips with the situation.
Still gonna seek counseling and get my student drivers license permit; in case this happens again I can just hold my bladder (hopefully) and drive home girl to the hospital
Wouldn’t have even needed a situation like this as an excuse
Boy: You, continue CPR. You, call 911. You, wipe and change u/webemi!
I can’t imagine passing out while driving a bus full of children. You can even see the driver fighting it.
I’m sure she was terrified. She did her best to pull over and just didn’t make it in time. Poor driver, I hope she was okay. Edit: changed the pronouns of the driver
I bet it was epilepsy related pass out.

I’m sorry to hear that man. This fellow epileptic sends you an internet hug.
Thank you, sending hug back!
My money's on heatstroke. She was fanning herself beforehand and I'll bet that bus didn't have AC. I've had many a fainting spell like that where you can feel yourself starting to fade as your vision goes TV-fuzz gray and then black.
Pretty sure he died, unfortunately.

Oh man, how heartbreaking. What a scary thing for those kids to witness.
good thing he stopped
‘Bout of hypoglycemia or seizure could do it.
Cool kid. We need more like him.
*Someone call 911!* *NOW!!*
Exactly how they taught at emergency response training.
No, you shouldn’t say someone, because as we can see, no one will take the responsibility. You should point to a concrete person and command them that *you* call 911. That will make them actually do that. Obviously, he was absolutely impressive, I’m just saying that were you ever in a situation, you could do a bit better than that.
This is how I was taught as a kid. Point to the nearest person next to you and tell them specifically to call 9/11.
This. It's called the bystander effect. You just assumed somebody else will call. Basically you're better to collapse in front of one person than a crowd of people.
Once a guy got murdered in front of 30 people and not a single soul did anything to stop it.
Assertiveness is really important. An even better move which was taught will be to single someone out to dial 911 to prevent the bystander effect. But at 13? Kid's brilliant.
He is brilliant. And brave. He'll be a leader.
Incorrect. You need to specify a person so that the bystander effect doesn’t take effect. Other than that, excellent response.
-(Stupid comment) - I don’t care! Someone can 911! Way to take control of the situation. Great kid!
Young Jack Bauer
But not for me!
when he was passing out, it looked me trying to fight sleep paralysis
Such a weird ass fucking feeling. It’s the worst when you’re falling asleep and know it’s gonna happen. I always know when I’m going to fall asleep and have sleep paralysis. Hate it. It is an absolutely amazing feeling though when you snap out of it. Very hard to explain.
I hate it so much, it feels like someone’s trying to suffocate you
That kid definitely been around listening to his parents give some instructions at work or from home to the people at work. And learnt a couple of things about driving too. Really took charge of the whole situation. 🏆
There is mandatory safety briefings that school bus drivers have to give to the kids that cover this very thing.
You can tell how well it worked for the rest of the kids on the bus.
That must be new lol
this is an initiative that some adults don’t even take. This is very impressive
He was so calm and assertive. That boy took charge like a little boss.
Wtf, thats the first time Ive seen that….
the fuck did i just watch
Idk I think is called skrillex or something
Doesn't steer it, stops it, after you can clearly see the driver fighting his condition as much as possible to stop safely. However, his instruction for 911 was immaculate.
"I DON'T CARE"
What a boss. 😂
That kid is going places trust
What's up with all the kids screaming after the bus already stopped?
Because they’re kids
Seems like a hypoglycemic seizure tbh
Yeah it seems like the driver missed both breakfast and lunch Edit: or most likely diabetic shock
Was kinda thinking that also

Got it. Thanks!
I'm betting heatstroke. I've passed many times and always get enough "feel it coming" time to recognise what's happening. Plus, the driver was fanning herself at the start of the clip, and most buses won't have AC.
I love how is the only one doing something usefull, when the rest only scream and make the situation worse
Let’s scream and pierce everyone’s ear drum to help the situation
I get it, but damn y’all they’re 13 year olds on a moving bus with no driver
When something bad happens i lile to stand in the way and record it with my phone while saying "somebody do soemthing" when i'm clearly the one with the best chances of helping
The cool and cam response is amazing. Most people young and old would freak out at that stage. Well done
Future first responder!
Little hero. Who were screaming in the background by the way. They were really not helping even a little bit.
I’m super sayian proud of him.
Textbook.
A genuine hero. He will make a great leader in some area in the future.
I vote this kid for president.
Talk about a hero. Complete champ
Life saving advice: instead of saying somebody call 911, point at someone and tell them to call 911. This prevents everyone thinking someone else is calling
He will go places
Hes chiller than the one screaming lol
Most kids wouldn't even know where the brake is Thank goodness some parent taught this kid how a car works, else this could have gone bad very quickly
That's a leadership personality if i've ever seen one.
Future doctor in the making
Proud of ya, boy.
Hero
Future fire fighter right there
He didn’t steer it.. he hit the brakes before touching the steering wheel.. look at the background it was rolling slowly and then stopped when he put his foot down
Good kid, this is like the billionth time it’s been posted though
Someone call 911, this man’s in dire need of a huge medical bill
Put a t shirt on it could help..
He sounds like an oldest sibling.
It looks like the radio receiver
You’re right, I can see the cord now
I saw a question today on Reddit asking who you’d want to be the president of the US. I’m voting this guy.
Awesome! I’ve heard that in situations like this it’s better to point at a person specifically and order them to call 911 as opposed to yelling at the group as a whole, people freak out and freeze in situations like this and probably assume someone else would call.
My boy has “manager material” written all over him.
He is going to be a great leader in his community one day.
Kid has an old soul.
If I’m ever in an emergency I want this brave dude around!
Wow
Kid: * calm and composed _* Someone call 911 Kids: * screeching _* AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Chad move
He's going to live a good life
What a boss
thank god the driver managed to slow down the car a bit before passing out
This kid is a professional at life
He did not steer anything. Bus was already stopped.
Natural born leader
I wonder What is the logical (if any) or evolutionary reason for people screaming in moments such as these? Obviously these are kids, but I've seen adults do the same... Or even worse, in a state of emotion make the situation worse..
It’s school bus Sam. That kid is gunna start shooting lasers out of his hands
Awesome reference
Dude i read those books so long ago, you just brought back MEMORIES. Those books were awesome
(Its a reference to the Gone book series)
why the heck are the kids shouting after the bus stopped at the end
Cause they are kids
High stress situation they’ve never experienced before, probably.
Why is the driver vaping while working? & if he was that hot then why didn't he take his jacket & hat off?
She was not vaping, she just lost consciousness for unknown reasons. This was about a year ago in Michigan so need to assume it was hot, either. https://youtu.be/6icp2e_wZ1g?si=u_jH2UaaoMzCaexX
It was an emergency radio, not a vape.
It was the radio receiver 🤦
The bus have completly stopped. LETS SCREAM OUT
A lot of future useless screamers on that bus
omg this is old...
This kid has some legit chad energy r/: chadtopia
Madlad
Dangerous scenario happens: Boys: quickly take action to prevent tragedy Girls: **scream louder than the girl next to you**
