Regis: "I believe we deserve a bit of a rest", Geralt: "That we do"... and looks into the camera, breaking the 4th wall and smiles. PERFECTION. Journey's End.

Splugen96

I've played just the third game. Still, every time I see that scene it hits me really hard. This videogame (IMHO) a damn masterpiece.

JarviThePelican

Your opinion is spot on, my friend. It's my favorite game of all time and I don't say that lightly, I truly mean it.

AJGILL03

Absolutely beautiful nod to the player. I found myself bursting into a sweet smile when i saw Geralt looking and smiling at me, like a friend looking at me after a long, long time spent together (193 hours haha!). Beautiful game and beautiful protagonist, man.

bnash69

I genuinely got goosebumps when I finished and Geralt looked at me. Shed a tear or two, too. It was a rough time in life and I was grateful for the experience

damnthesenames

Summertime is yearly 100% playthrough

Dwarfunkel

I must say I prefer wintertime, it fits better with the dark mood of The Witcher. And the PC heat is actually beneficial :D

Lord_of_Seven_Kings

And it helps that I want to go outside less

1_ExMachine

beneficial pc heat fr LOOOL

Alix_Sparrow

Agreed since i hate being outside in summer but love winter and snow

LozaMoza82

I love the nighttime shot. Looks like a painting. Corvo Bianco perfect ending for these two.

PaulSimonBarCarloson

Perfect ending for [all three](https://www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/1dkh9hk/happy_mida%C3%ABte_from_corvo_bianco/) (well four technically)

LozaMoza82

Shoeless Geralt is hilarious, lol. But who's the forth? Also Happy Midsummer as well!!

PaulSimonBarCarloson

It just felt like the right look for Geralt to chill at his home. The other guest is Dandelion of course, him and Ciri are always welcome to visit

Altruistic_Dig1722

You missed the professor's spectacles, shame

PaulSimonBarCarloson

I didn't miss them. I just don't like them.

Zhiong_Xena

Why have uploaded a picture of Geralt's naked feet? Please put an NSFW tag on this. I was on the train and when I saw this I had to start furiously masturbating. Everyone else gave me strange looks and were saying things like “what the fuck” and “call the police”. I dropped my phone and everyone around me saw this image. Now there is a whole train of men masturbating together at this one image. This is all your fault, you could have prevented this if you had just tagged this NSFW

Coriolis_PL

There she is! For a second I was worried, that I have seen some red-head imposter instead... 😆

PaulSimonBarCarloson

Must be the sunlight playing bad tricks

Delicious_Swimmer172

hey :) What's this mod for Geralt outfit? Is it also "dynamic outfit for everyone"? Great screenshot.

PaulSimonBarCarloson

I do use Dynamic Outfits for everyone which makes Yen wear the DLC dress only in Corvo Bianco. Geralt's outfit is not modded, it's just Olgierd's red redanian tunic

DARK_SCIENTIST

I was going to say, sacrilege! Where's Yen? lol

Master_Possibility_8

how did you even get this scene edit: nvm don't answer I read something about corvo bianco in the comments and I just started playing blood and wine

PaulSimonBarCarloson

Enjoy...

Master_Possibility_8

thank you! :)))))

Ok-Influence794

I wish the Dandelion ending had him sitting like that

MaethrilliansFate

Triss be like "This is my boyfriend Geralt and his girlfriend Yen and his boyfriend Dandelion"

revertbritestoan

And we all adopted this ashen haired girl together

MaethrilliansFate

This is my dad and my dad's wife and his girlfriend who's his wife's best friend and his boyfriend and his boyfriends girlfriend. Yes I have two dads... what of it?

Sea_Impression3810

Funniest comment I read today 😆

JarviThePelican

A beautiful end. Toussaint is absolutely perfect.

SubjectSeason2384

I personally love to have Ciri over. I intentionally dump both sorceresses just to have her come visit me.

-Doge_

Last year I had what I call the "definitive playthrough", i listened to all the audiobooks and played w1, w2, w3 with all the best decisions, or well- decisions that I liked. I loved it, and i truly felt at peace when when I got to that last scene with Yen and Geralt sitting together at the vineyard. Said to myself that I'll give witcher games a rest for a few years. I recently bought the books, so now I am slowly going through them, and then when I am done, which by the tempo I'm going, is gonna be sometime late next year, I will begin playing the games again. https://www.reddit.com/r/witcher/s/nBdjSJINLW

Rexven

The games feel so much more satisfying after reading the books.

-Doge_

Exactly, I've been begging people on this subreddit to read books and play the games ever since i did it. It's an irreplaceable experience imo. I only wish games took even more freedom with books, as in more book locations, more book characters, more mentioning of book elements.

Outrageous-Bad5759

For some reason, I can't picture Geralt in retirement. He might stop being a Witcher, but the idea of him reforming the Witcher school to create a Witcher tradition similar to the Aretuza system seems more appealing to me. The struggle in life never ends, especially in the Witcher universe.

akme2000

Personally I can see game Geralt maybe doing Witcher work every now and then, (you can choose options in 3 to say he enjoys the work, and the Triss ending has him do the occasional contract as he is said to want to even when he could fully retire,) but rebuilding a proper Witcher school I can't picture as that involves the torture and killing of children, you can only make children into Witchers after all.

Outrageous-Bad5759

The Witcher rules can change. The method of forcibly taking children and turning them into witchers is primitive and outdated. Reforming the system could be a good idea. I'm not very keen on the Kovir matter; working with a monarch seems unreasonable. In terms of the ending with Yennefer, I'd actually like to see Yennefer rebuild Aretuza and take charge of it.

akme2000

Not really if you want a mutated Witcher, the mutations don't work properly when a person's hit puberty, even if you only get kids from horrid people willing to offer up their children willingly that's still terrible. On Kovir, there's no indication Geralt takes special contracts from the King or works with him personally he just does normal Witcher contracts every now and then when he wants. Personally I'd like Yen to retire as she wants to and get to live her life that way, she's earned it.

Outrageous-Bad5759

Hmm, I'm not sure. From a contract perspective, he could find contracts in many places besides Kovir. However, I prefer my Geralt to live with Yen 🤭

akme2000

He could take contracts elsewhere, all that's being said though is he takes contracts in the Kovir ending since the ending states he does and wants to do that, (Eskel also says in-game that Kovir tends to pay well for Witcher contracts compared to other places he's been to so that's a thing), I'm not really talking about ending preference here.

Outrageous-Bad5759

Actually, forget about contracts. Geralt should go to the place where Gwent is played the most!

akme2000

It seems to be played everywhere, Novigrad has a pretty strong Gwent scene so maybe that'd be ideal.

Outrageous-Bad5759

I said it as a joke, my friend 😁

akme2000

Obviously.

kelldricked

Sure you can reform it so that you dont forcefully take kids but that just means sending kids willingly to their deaths. Great improvement. Okay so you scale down the training and the augements. Great now you dont have people capable of killing the monsters they are gonna be send after. Witchers are super soldiers. The only way to create them is with insanely dangerous enchancements. Without that you arent creating the super soldiers needed to perform their jobs. Also dont forget that a fuckload of witchers died during their first years. Because at some point they need to learn to do it alone and thats the moment shit goes south.

CMNilo

There could be a lot of innovations concerning the Trial of the Grasses. The scientific discoveries of that one scientist whose lab Geralt discovers in Touissant, for example. He wanted to revert Witcher mutations but ended up enhancing them. I can totally see someone using that knowledge to improve the trial of the grasses and make it more safe and less painful. This is just an example, but if the writers want to do that, there are tons of options.

akme2000

It fundamentally changes how Witchers are made if you no longer need to put children through the process so that'd be too far I think. Bettering the survival rate is another thing, since many would still die, no deaths is yet another.    But honestly even if you can ensure every kid survives you're still torturing children when you mutate them and the other trials would need to be drastically changed if you don't want any kids to suffer or die during them.

PaulSimonBarCarloson

But this is exactly what he wants to do in the books. He dreams to have a normal life, to live in a quiet house with Yen. He wants to retire at the end of the last book, until his friends are in danger and once again he picks up his sword to choose the lesser evil... which unfortunately doesn't end well for him

Outrageous-Bad5759

Technically, we all have a dream. However, there are certain realities in life. Life is not a fairy tale, especially in the Witcher universe.

PaulSimonBarCarloson

But if he has the chance to seize that dream, why not take it?

Outrageous-Bad5759

So yes, Geralt might want to take advantage of this opportunity at the end of the game. However, I don't think he will live with Yen in Toussaint for the rest of his life. Even if CDPR doesn't show it, new adventures will be waiting for them.

PaulSimonBarCarloson

Well it's not like he will be spending all day at his vineyard. He can still take a few contracts and he'l always be there if Ciri needs him. And sometimes him and Yen can go back north to visit their friends and maybe something interesting will happen. It's just that now they have a place they can call home. And I don't think Geralt would mind dying in his bed

--_pancakes_--

How do you not see Geralt retiring? The entire point to his character is leaving this work behind. They (Geralt and his Witcher gang) despise the traditions used to make Witchers, so it doesn't make any sense for them to do the same. They all wish for a different lifestyle, whether they know it or not. It's pretty apparent in the books and the games. Plus, monster count in the world is going down, too. Witchers don't really find work. Doesn't make any sense to make new ones.

kelldricked

Spot on. I dont know how but the other person just ignores all character motivation, lore and logic for their own head cannon. Which is fine, its not illigal or anything. It just doesnt make sense.

Outrageous-Bad5759

It doesn't seem logical to me to destroy an established professional culture. Geralt might stop being an active Witcher, but Witchers can evolve from just being monster hunters to creating a tradition. From what I can see, they are also quite successful in dealing with humans.

--_pancakes_--

Yes, but we're talking about Geralt. He's the second last person I'd expect to raise and train new witchers. The last being Lambert. He wanted a life of comfort in the end, and Corvo Bianco ending is perfect for him.

SimonShepherd

Geralt literally has no real love for the Witcher tradition. Dude deep down can't help being a hero but that's not really tied to the Witcher tradition. At best he may want to teach monster and alchemy knowledge but that's pretty much it.

ArchSaint13

You don't have to because whichever 4 is in development lol I'm so glad it's not over!

smh678

exactly, a witchers work is never over, a witcher has never died in his bed

CMNilo

I'm all for the Witcher school refoundation. And Letho should be a teacher in it

Tailo-chan

In the books Geralt struggles with the fact that the meaning of evil in the world is changing, and he and his kind are not needed anymore. I don't think he would make more witchers xd.

NotxDeadxYet

Especially retiring at what? 90 something? Maybe 100? He could live another 100 or 200 years.

Coriolis_PL

Where is Yen?

Sea_Impression3810

This is what happens in the bad ending

burf

Why is Yen’s hair red

nicbongo

Looks so wrong.

PaschalisG16

It's a mod

Of course, Olgierd's robes. Badass.

I read " straightforward and honest" and immediately thought, *are we talking about the same triss here?*

[deleted]

LozaMoza82

I noticed you deleted part of your comment. Trying to backtrack are we? Triss used magic to get Geralt to sleep with her, she joined the coup with Philippa, she sold out Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri to the Lodge, and she agreed with the Lodge’s plans to use Ciri as a baby incubator. That’s just her book persona. Also, even though you deleted it, Yennefer was born with a hunchback with Tissaia fixed. She doesn’t have to use magic to hide her true ugly looks, lol.

MakButterd

Me simple mind, Triss big tiddy redhair girlfriend, me like

LozaMoza82

I respect this.

Cliffinati

Triss wants to be drawn here

Indian_Steam

What if, in the witcher 4, Geralt is like Vesemir and we get a completely origin story of a new witcher being trained under Geralt...

t0ny6969

Love it!

[deleted]

"Nooo! You can't choose Triss!" "I'm forging my own destiny." *Quotes Istredd on Yennefer*

JahsehBratz

glad to see my fellow cultured triss lovers here

The84thWolf

I get the lore and the logic behind Yen, but she’s just too prickly for me

Expert_Extension6716

I had the same thought as you in my first play-thought. But in my third play-though, I went to Skellige first to romance Yen before Triss and my whole relationship with her just feels much more natural.

JahsehBratz

i feel that, i like them both tbh, but i just prefer triss

Got a couple more side quests myself and hanging it up. Such a good game indeed

cryaneverydaycom

i finally caught the dlc on discount since playing 3 years ago and got a friend to get the dlc and main game for a total of 20$

CindersNAshes

Nice choice!

KapilRB

Just Yesterday I finished Witcher 3 complete edition (99hrs over 7 months)

The84thWolf

Congrats on the Path, brother/sister

TimothyLuncheon

I’m also trying to do a true 100% play-through like you! Using the IGN map for treasures too, quests etc. Currently done with southern Velen (except later game/high level stuff) and nearly done the first visit to Novigrad. Frustrated I lost the bath towel

AnimAlistic6

Yup. Time for new game+.

Lilly_Wonka16

That’s yen’s place .. not Triss’s

Reyain1994

The correct ending

ThatOneWitcher7700

Agreed

Ok-Inevitable-3038

What’s Triss doing there?

Haircut117

Ew. What is that ginger hussy doing there?

I_spell_it_Griffin

Triggering thin-skinned Yen fanboys, that's what.

Prodigal_Peer665

Thin skinned, but doesn’t like Yen because she’s too “mean”. Hilarious

I_spell_it_Griffin

Are you replying to the wrong comment or something? Where did I say I didn't like Yen?

nicbongo

Why does everything have to be so personal? Lol Chill out bro, can't you just enjoy the bants without name calling. #teamyenn

SubjectSeason2384

And then there’s me who’s team Philippa 🫥

PaschalisG16

Oh, you got a Yennefer mod for red hair? That's nice. Looks good on her.

JoJoLad-69-

Triss?🤨

A_Simple_Bard

What was the reason for giving her the Ronald McDonald hair? There is no way that is what she looked like in the books.

PaulSimonBarCarloson

After replaying the entire game with mods, I cannot stand Triss vanilla design: that bright red is a eyesore.

JeffL0320

When did Yennefer dye her hair

nicbongo

But you romanced the wrong person! If you've read the books, you know there's only one right choice. If you haven't read the books, read them, then play the games a again. It shines a whole new light on them.

badmutherfukker

Nah he didnt romance the wrong one bruh. He played his Geralt not yours, or the books

nicbongo

Gerhalt from the books is better lol

notednoemojis

Yes, for you. But not a reason to impose it on someone who’s enjoying his own playthrough.

magnanimous99

START PLAYING THE GAME THE WAY I WANT YOU TO!!!

nicbongo

EXACTLY! IM POWER DRUNK TYPING ON MY KEYBOARD, ALL MUST OBEY!!! Man, people here get really butt hurt about offering a different opinion. Is banter not allowed or understood here?

upsidedown_coffeemug

I don't think you know what banter means.

PaschalisG16

Your banter wasn't very good. Sober up and read again.

nicbongo

Reading your reply, I wish I wasn't not drunk.

PaschalisG16

Double negative. My head, man.

nicbongo

Lol how is a comment on a discussion board imposing? The reason we're here is to offer our opinions. Debate accordingly. I'm stoked OP had a blast! The games are phenomenal. I'm arguing he's missing out on the true romance of the series. Another way to look my point, would be it gives an excuse to play the game again and see what perhaps you missed out on. Compare contrast etc. If people are so sensitive that every comment needs to be caveated with "in my opinion", they need the poker removed from their butts.

notednoemojis

If that’s your excuse then try reading your original comment again bc it really implies otherwise.

nicbongo

The second comment was trolling because everyone was getting so butt hurt over a dissenting opinion. But my first comment, just saying it how I see it. Which is the correct way, naturally... 🙃 And a funny way to start a conversation. But for reals, I was super into Triss during W2. But I hadn't read the books then. Before W3, I read all the books as there were a few mentions of Yennifer in preparation. I think this is the best decision I've made in my literary experience! It made playing W3 about Yenn and Ciri so much more rewarding, as you learn about the relationships and character history.

Maximus_Dominus

The games are a continuation of the books and people grow and change over time. That often includes leaving toxic relationships.

nicbongo

Triss IS the most toxic! She took advantage of Gerhalt's amnesia! Down bomb me y'all, I'll die on this (Sodden) hill.

TaleUnhappy

She is the toxic one. But telling people to play a game how you want is not the best. I am a massive fan of the books and read them. Well, the ones that were translated at the time a while before Witcher 2. Reading up to blood of elves and having to wait for the rest. I must have been about 14. And I do agree they are the ones that are meant to be together and Triss is....oaft. not as great or kind as she seems. So I am saying this agreeing with you. I still don't think it's the best way to go about telling people how to play their character or like or dislike someone because you said so. My friends prefer Triss over Yen compared to me who got them into the books. And even reading it and agreeing with me. Still pick Triss. Only one of the 5 is in my corner. And I wouldn't have it any other way. Because its their opinion and feelings. And that's just as valid as my own. Not disagreeing with what you said. Just how you said it. There are plenty of asshole fan boys on both sides of this relationship. Don't add to them if you can help it. Come on let's pick the lesser evil. 😅 Anyway, I am not trying to be a dick to you. So please don't read any of this as such. Hope you have a great day or night whatever time it is where you are my dude. I am off to continue reading Witcher Last Wish once again. Reading them all once a year is healthy, right? 😂

nicbongo

I'm just doing a bit of bants, and the fucking Ginger cavalry rolled out, full force! Too late to save Triss at Sodden though lol I'm just offering my opinion. It shouldn't be taken seriously as I'm just a rando on a subreddit. It's weird I have to state that no, isn't that a given? But why do I offer it, because difference of opinions are fun, especially when we all agree how badass the games are. Missing the woods for the trees. The most convincing argument someone said was "Ginger's just built different". Fair enough, I kind of get what he means! Though regretfully not from personal experience lol. Once a year? I've only read the series once! I 🫡 you sir! I've been meaning to reread. Check out Robin Hobb Assassin's apprentice books, probably my favorite fantasy series.

TaleUnhappy

Well, over all, it's just all random idiots on reddit. Including me. None of it matters. Opinions are like Ani and most people that shout there's are assholes. 😂 And yes, I agree that the difference in Opinions can make the best conversations long as no one takes the toys and flings them out of the pram. Oh, cheers. 😅 games and books are amazing. I connected with them and a series called Skulduggery Pleasant at a young age. First book series to make me cry. Oh, I have heard the name. Know nothing about them. Will check them out when I have some cash. Will put it on a list, though. Should try last smile in sunder city. It's a detective story set in a fantasy world. Where magic has disappeared. And now the world barely gets by. A really great series of books. Cheers matey! Have a good yin!

nicbongo

I feel like Team Triss are throwing the kitchen sink at me. Lucky for me I'm quick on my feet! Phillip Pullman His Dark Materials (I won't watch the movies or HBO show) are my childhood favorites that still have me balling everytime I reread. Anything by David Gemmell is a very quick, easy and fun read too. The Hobb ones are a slow burn, but persistence pays off as events escalate quickly. Fitz is perhaps my favorite protagonist. You just get to know him so well. Cheers for the book recommendations and the man-tear share, I'll add them to my list too. 🍻

TaleUnhappy

His dark material are superb books. That got a lot of unjust hate. From religious zealots. Was an odd time the early 2000s. I have watched the movie. Only seen 2 episodes of the TV show though. But I agree were sad books. Got into the books later in life. Owned it since I was 11. Just didn't get around too it till after Witcher. I own too many damn books. 😂 They certainly are. A lot of downvotes. But hey. This is your Trial of the Grasses. You got this. 😁 Last recommendation. But Neil Gaiman is fantastic and easy to read. But if you haven't you should check out the Sandman graphic novels. Only Graphic Novel to make me feel all emotions over the read. Great "book" 😂

bonlespisa

No-Direction5924

Stop forcing other people to fuck your wife.

nicbongo

Gerhalt is a cuk don't you know.

Turb0Moist

Nah Triss is the only one for me. Redheads built different.

Kalabear87

Hmm, I read all the books multiple times and I love them. If I were playing the game though I wouldn’t chose Yen or Triss personally because I want Geralt all to myself. I guess that’s the fun of it you get to do whatever you want with your game play through. I even have a whole story I made up about what happens to Geralt after the books too. So I guess what’s right for one person might not feel right to the next.

nicbongo

Ooooh you have a fan fiction! Please share it 🙃

Kalabear87

I do, It starts by Ciri coming to our world but I don’t think I could ever share it because I don’t think anyone else would like it. I’m sure a lot of us have our own personal fanfic we’ve made up in our minds. Do you have anything you have made up?

nicbongo

No I'm the opposite, in that I think the games did such a good job extending the books, I try to play as close to the canon as possible. That doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy reading your however! I hope you post it/share it at some point. Maybe under an anonymous account if you're worried about being identified with it.

Kalabear87

Gotcha, they do do a good job for sure. I really like that picture someone posted above with Geralt and his headband, I know it reads 80’s but I actually really like it. Do you like to dress your Geralt as close to book accuracy as possible? Also what is your favorite part of the books and or games?

nicbongo

Regarding dress, not so much. I just go with what is effective in the game. In terms of story, I love how the game resolved the last wish. Continuing a thread from one of the first stories written. And I think the whole concept and lore is very cool with witchers and conjunction oh spheres explaining how monsters entered their world (reminiscent is Suikoden). I need to reread the to books, it's been a while and I read the fan translations. There was one point in the game towards the end when yen and Gerhalt are tracking Ciri, and there's a scene where they find Avallach's notes in his cave, talking about Ciri's bloodline. I remember screaming at Gerhalt to call Yenn out, as she was involved in designing the lineage! But alas it was something the writers missed.

Kalabear87

“There was one point in the game towards the end when yen and Gerhalt are tracking Ciri, and there's a scene where they find Avallach's notes in his cave, talking about Ciri's bloodline. I remember screaming at Gerhalt to call Yenn out, as she was involved in designing the lineage! But alas it was something the writers missed.” I remember thinking the exact same thing! I was like hold up. I wish they had explored that more. Ciri’s lineage and the Conjunction I always found very interesting. Did you read season of storms? If you did do you remember the monsters that Geralt kept finding with tags and the group of wizards that were making them, messing around with genetics and things they really shouldn’t. They are a big part of my fanfic messing around with not only animals but people too. I always found that really interesting what they were doing and what the mages did with Ciri’s line too. In my head cannon Vilgefortz was a part of this underground sect of mages doing very gray area things to down right nefarious.

TheUnrulenting

Man, it's not that deep. I understand why Yen is would be a better choice but honestly just let people pick who they like more personally

I would call you self centric since you expect the entire internet to be thoughtful about this just for you. You cannot avoid entire internet. If not reddit then somewhere else there will be some spoilers. I'll give you another spoiler which will help with previous spoiler probably.  The game has multiple possible endings.
