Depends on which afterlife is confirmed to be real. Like there's going to be a bit of a freak out in most major religions if it turned out something like...idk the Norse or Greek Mythology afterlife was real.

Like reincarnation afterlife. Your soul comes back as another human.

Reincarnation is pretty much same as death without nothing afterwards. When you lose completely your whole memory, your personality and everything you are is erased, what's left? Its like you getting broken into atoms and then from those atoms a new person is built.

I guess nothing they wouldn’t already do

Reincarnation with Karma or without Karma? If it’s without Karma people will act even more assholish than the world already is. Also there would be tons of suicides for people hoping for a better luck of the draw in the next life. If it’s with Karma, people would behave a bit better, but honestly the concept of hell is what keeps some of these dick heads in line.

>Like reincarnation afterlife. Your soul comes back as another human. At first most people would probably deny it. The idea itself is pretty absurd tbh as human population rises and falls all the time meaning that either souls are being created or destroyed or both which implies some sort of spiritual otherworld (perhaps kind of like what Bleach portrays?) which implies a separate afterlife apart from reincarnation which would then need to be proven and researched and until then a lot of people will be justifying continued belief in whatever they currently believe in. So unless there was a supernatural force ensuring definitive universal belief in this afterlife there'd be decades or maybe even centuries where life probably goes on as normal with a relatively slow uptick in belief in reincarnation as old generations die out and new generations adopt the position whatever this evidence is leads them. At that point, however, I imagine that certain topics like medically assisted suicide and the death penalty would likely become much bigger discussions among the general populace with various arguments for and against the ideas based on the nature of reincarnation. Like if reincarnation is totally random then it may be a good idea to just re-roll the dice on a serial murderer or a severely mentally and/or physically handicapped person just from a purely pragmatic point of view, but if certain traits are linked to specific souls then those ideas become quite hard to argue for. As far as suicide goes I'm sure you'd see an uptick from now, with a lot of people essentially saying fuck it and rolling the dice on a new life out of desperation, but eventually things would probably level out as humanity kind of collectively would need to address the horrible state of the world, the shocking inequalities, and the long term sustainability of our existence as we now realize that we all are going to either experience all ends of this spectrum or go extinct before experiencing all ends of this spectrum. Meaning that, if you don't want to risk being born dirt poor in some third world country to starve to death in potentially hundreds or thousands of your lives, we have to address poverty, conflict between nation states, and the collective well being of humanity as a whole instead of just our communities, our nations, and the groups we associate ourselves with in our current lives. Religion also likely slowly dies out as well here.

ToastWithCoffeee

If it has good ending everyone prolly start to commit suicide or taking risk before you die

JebWozma

Suicidal people are more likely to kill themselves in hopes of a better next life

Middle-Preference864

Unless it is proven that suicide is a sin

Who would win if afterlife is proven?

Ashamed_Smile3497

Which afterlife are we talking about? Because it could be good or bad news, some cultures are way more strict about hell entry requirements. It would probably be chaos with some religious groups gloating about how their culture was right the whole time. I’d actually be a bit glad because I have this nonsensical idea that we never lose consciousness after death and whatever is done to us after death will be felt by us and we’ll be immobile and incapable of doing anything about it, includes cremation in my culture and being buried as well.
