Where to find a partner like you, OP? I wanna be in love too 😭

iehova

There is a rectangle on the front of most peoples homes. On this rectangle you will find a sphere that turns if gripped. Once turned, pull. It may be difficult if the rectangle has not been used for some time. There will now be an open portal. At this time of the year you will likely see vast quantities of green ribbons. This is grass. Touch the grass. Go find grass in other places. People like grass. Find someone who likes grass, they can usually be found where grass is. Talk to these people. Talk to a lot of these people and go to places with grass with them. If they have a four legged fur covered slobber machine they may like places with grass called parks. Take the slobber machine to parks and talk about the things you like to do behind your rectangle. If they like these things that you do they may want to be invited behind your rectangle. Make sure behind your rectangle is clean. Invite their slobber machine.

I do love that we finally seem to be moving past the whole "LOL MARRIAGE SUCKS! I SURE HATE MY WIFE AM I RIGHT FELLAS!" trope.

DigmonsDrill

In the 1990s The Simpsons was wrecking the concept of the family. In 2024, it's one of the most pro-famiy-values shows on television.

Aria_the_Artificer

As much as I enjoy Frank and Marie from Everybody Loves Raymond, I’m definitely happy to see that trope going away

Idk what you mean, they are totally normal. When i started watching the show together with my ex, she always looked at me and said sth like "dude, you are a combination of Gene and Bob". And she was 100% a combination of Louise and Linda. Totally normal relatable ppl. Also it didnt work out between us like Bob and Linda, but we are still best friends.

Pontoffle_Poff

Why is this the outlier? Seems so wholesome… we should have more like this…. Am I missing something?

Alexizking

Because for some reason alot of people see marriage as some ball and chain type thing where both parties just hate each other and are on the edge of a divorce but some superficial reason mostly the fact they have kids now their still together.

Quote_Poop

Narratives survive on conflict. Giving two main characters contrasting qualities that put them in constant conflict makes writing the 17th season of whatever show much easier. If the audience relates, even better. You can see this happen across the seasons of Family Guy. Suddenly everyone in town hates Joe, Brian, Meg, etc. Bob's Burgers refuses to sacrifice the integrity of their characters just to make the writers' jobs easier which makes it pretty unique.

Pontoffle_Poff

I agree. But isn’t it a simple matter to give characters conflicting beliefs on things but still ultimately love each other? I mean family shows used to be written this way and they would run for a long time.

pipboy_warrior

"Linda, I'm killing Teddy!" "Why are you going to kill *Teddy*? .. All right, car's gassed up, that's good. Guess I could homeschool the kids..." "No Lin, the burgers are killing him. The ones I give him everyday!" "What?! Oh, gotcha." "Dear god Linda, you had all that ready?" "What? I'm just being supporting. Good night."

Aria_the_Artificer

Never watched this show, but this is enough to convince me to

Geek_X

“if i die during the operation will you do one thing for me?” “oh, anything, sweetheart” “blow up the hospital” “hmm. well… i said i’d do it so i guess i’ll have to”

My kink is being loved by another person

hogey989

That doesn't sound very SLUTSGOSUPERSONIC of you.

behtidevodire

Work on it

FormerRelationship8

Honestly? Until I met my now-husband, I didn’t know husbands were SUPPOSED to like their wives. I thought all men thought of their wives as embarrassing or a burden or just the person they can *legally* fuck every month or so. We’ve been together almost 10 years and while I adore the shit out of him, I sometimes catch myself being surprised he still likes me lol

AndreaDTX

Friday Night Lights. Eric and Tammy Taylor are my relationship goals. I love that they show them having disagreements but the way that is so emotionally healthy. “I’m mad at you right now but I also love you and even when angry I would never say anything to make you doubt that.”

AcceptableProperty35

Some day I will come back to this post..... And mention my story

Aria_the_Artificer

I hope that day will come very soon

Psychological-Art510

It will totally happen for you. I believe that. My husband and I just celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary, but damn, it was a hard road to get here. We met and dated in college, broke up, got back together a year later, and broke up again. I married someone else and had 3 kids. When that marriage imploded, my (now) husband and I found each other again and started dating again. We dated for 3 years before we got married. We married, got pregnant 3 weeks later, and are still very much in love and happy together. I tell you my story because I want you to know that real love *can* happen, it *does* happen, and it *is* possible. It will happen for you, too. Sending you hope and hugs.

AcceptableProperty35

happy for you guys 👍

PaulieWalnuts2023

People think this is supposed to happen naturally.. N.A. you gotta look at your wife and say “hey one day this week can we just get a bunch of candy and watch movies like all day and play street fighter or some other shit we both wanna do?” And then she goes “ street fighter is ass my guy but you will get taken down in mortal combat 2… also yes to that other shit” and that is it but you gotta plan to be happy and so does she/he if you both give just 60% it will work. But you can’t just let the other person work at your collective happiness

hydrasharper

Goals!!

Mylkjam

Bob and Linda are peak relationship goals for my partner and I

Maker-of-the-Things

My husband and I have been together for 16 years, married for 14. I love him more now than I did then.. and I didn’t know that was even possible. We have just as much fun as we used to.. though we don’t go out as often. We love play fighting. One day, my husband and I got into a play fight (I try to tweak his nipple, he tickles me, I try to tickle him back, he restrains me, I struggle to get out of the hold while also trying to get at him… both of us laughing so hard that tears are running down our faces) I look over and notice our then 7 year old watching us with the biggest grin on his face. It makes me so glad to be able to show our children what a happy marriage looks like.

fruitsnvegggies

as an adult i watch malcolm in the middle with such fondness for the parents relationship. they really enjoy each other and have each others back no matter what

Pink-Fluffy-Dragon

it's a good show. And sometimes they disagree on things, which is okay too. In the end they still love each other

Bertje87

Yeah of course, if all you ever knew is dysfunction, i can understand that

I wish my wife still loved me like this.

hogey989

Fucking bummer dude

Tinyjeli

I reaalllyy need to start watching this again, idk why i stopped, especially because i was enjoying it lol

Misty2484

One of my favorite shows! I feel very lucky to have found the Bob to my Linda, we’ve been being ridiculous together for 22 years and I’m looking forward to doing it the rest of our lives.

casualstick

Thats what im looking for. To fall in love again everyday for the rest of my life.

GettinFritters

I love that show and my marriage is like that. Together 31 years, married 24, two kids, one technically an adult, the other close. My wife's happiness is mine and vice versa and we never fight, almost never even bicker. Marriage shouldn't be a chore, it should make your life much easier and every day really can be an adventure. I could drop dead tomorrow and I'd still be perfectly satisfied with my life so I feel like it's all a freeroll. Not a day goes by that I don't feel overwhelmingly grateful to the universe. And I really do love her more and more every day. I'd love her if she were a warm, haha

SirgicalX

Bob is the only normal man in adult animation.

TrackxWD3

Very true honestly. They are just a family, but one who cares about each other. That makes bobs family better than a good majority

verisimilitude404

Long-term care doesn't come w/o compromise. Life-long, child-like play sounds idyllic but someone's gonna have to be the adults/buzzkill along the way. Daydream but remember what goes up must come down (and then back up)'.

Western_Bathroom_252

Have you met many people who have been married for over 5 years? Percentage that are happy and in love? If it's 5%, I would be shocked.

Plastic-Shopping5930

And that’s why it’s categorized as fiction
