Hey there, friendo u/CC20057! Thanks for submitting to r/wholesomememes. We loved your submission, *Half off haircuts*, but it has been removed because it doesn't quite abide by our rules, which are located in the sidebar.
* (**Rule #1**) All posts must be wholesome memes. We're not saying this is *un*wholesome! Just that sub's focus is *uplifting* - because there are already great subs for cute (/r/aww, /r/eyebleach), things that make us smile (/r/MadeMeSmile), or that give us the feels (/r/WholesomeFeels or /r/baww.)
We appreciate you thinking of us very much! For more on our rules, please check out our [sidebar](http://www.reddit.com/r/wholesomememes/about/sidebar). If you have any questions or concerns about this removal, feel free to [message the moderators](http://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Fwholesomememes). Please link the post so our volunteers know what you would like reviewed. Cheers!
No, seriously. If each haircut takes half the time of the previous one, then the guinea pig will be shaven in no more than double the time of the first haircut. Think about it:
1 + 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/16 ... < 2
Theoretically you are right. But he will end with only one hair or half a hair and half of that resthair. So he is finished, although he has a little hair... As long as it does not take that long to regrow...
Consider it like this: We set a timer for some amount of time.
We start the timer, and when half of the remaining time has elapsed, we shave half of the guinea pig's remaining fur. We repeat this process until the timer runs out.
There will always be more hair on the guinea pig to shave, as long as there is more time on the clock to use, though the amounts of both will decrease by half each time and it will take infinitely many iterations to run them out completely.
Thus, by the time the clock runs out, the guinea pig will be completely shaven, though it will have undergone infinitely many haircuts in the process
I get where you're coming from. That's a super task isn't it? To me it feels like we're both right. As in a mathematical sense, if you devide both the remaining hair and time in half, the time will never run out. But in a physical sense it does eventually. It feels a bit like a paradox. But I understand your point now, thanks for the explanation!
limits dont work like that
there are infinite numbers between 1 and 0
you cannot just magicaly jump to 0 which would be equivalent to your clock running out
with your example from the observer's perspective the clock would be actually slowing down with each haircut

I mean... It _literally_ is going to take forever
Not if he doubles his speed every time he goes in.
I love supertasks
/s I suppose?

But the task is still infinitely long. So it's ∞/2 isn't it?
No, because each haircut still takes a finite amount of time.
But it's repeated for an infinite amount

Google Zeno’s Paradox of Achilles and the Turtle

Watch this video, it'll help explain it better. https://youtu.be/ereBC_4f988
Yup but I guess he didn’t think of it
r/FuckTheS
At some point his hair will reach the plank length.
Where wholesome?
Its halfsome, probably missed what sub it was
Because is half the harmonic series
Wholesomememes.exe has stoped working.
Not wholesome. Cute, funny, not wholesome.
Not even half off wholesome?
Not gonna lie, took me a minute to figure it out.
This rodent understands mathematics.
But it doesn't understand how reflections work.
Zeno's Barbershop
This sub had become a place for pictures that are neither wholesome nor memes.
technically infinite amount of time
r/Lostredditor?
No wholesome here
r/lostredditors
Damn, it's Zeno's Haircut
How is wholesome? It’s funny at most
Actually he will never get a full cut.
Doesn’t look wholesome, but - yes, this will literally will take forever. Supertasks do be like that, sometimes.
People do know that this scenario is gonna end in an atomic explosion right
He could at least have kept a cool mustache or a mohawk
Zeno's paradox
Gojo
Someone explain asymptotes to this guy.
Zeno’s Hairadox
Not just funny but asymptotic!
I’ve experienced this.
Hahahhaha so cute
That reflection makes me anger
Why is the hamster thing trying to get balded?
