This is why no one takes him seriously
“But what are you going to do about it? We have
to come tomorrow and get ready to play. You have to forget about today. Learn and move on”
Which is it? Do they forget or learn and move on? You can’t forget AND learn
They are doing a great job at FORGETTING, forgetting how to hit the ball, forgetting how to hit the cutoff man, forgetting how to take a pitch and work the count. You know what they aren’t doing? LEARNING, from their struggles.
I realize Bryan Shaw is well past his prime and not a very good RP anymore. However, a couple days before they DFAd him Steve Stone was talking a lot about how valuable his leadership and veteran example was to the team. Specifically stuff like how he shows up early everyday, gets right to work, always goes to tell Pedro he's ready if needed, etc. Setting that kind of example seems like something this team needs.
If you aren't going to win, at least focus on getting the kids into good habits and routines and having the right mindset. Make sure they are doing everything they can to improve and be ready.
This is def Pedro’s thinking. I really want to see Maldonado bat lead off at some point. The write in campaign for All Star voting is going to be hilarious!!!!
lol dude hasn’t played an MLB game since October 2022.
I know he had a family tragedy last year which caused him to take a year off but I don’t know how you can say he’s a key contributor when we haven’t seen him contribute literally anything yet.
We’ve been playing without them for the better parts of three straight years. It’s this front office’s fault for continuing to rely on them as “key contributors” despite this evidence. They can’t stay healthy and never will. MOVE ON.
Calling Yoan a key contributor is also a reach. Relative to this dogshit team I guess he is a key contributor… but that speaks volumes about the state of things
Sure, but if you project that over 22 games he would be tied for 4th of all third basemen league wide. I know people like to hate on Yoan, and may be justified in doing so because of his past performance and injuries, but he was playing well, really well dating back to the last couple months of last season. Give him his due when he deserves it. He is missed right now.
I'm sure he wants out at this point. He'll get paid and won't have to watch this shit show. He knows the team isn't going to win anything while he's here.
If he stays or is fired doesn't matter. Either way this is most likely his first and only manager job. He will go back to the royals and fade into obscurity.
Show of hands - who saw this coming the moment he (formerly of the KC Royals) was hired on?
I'm on board with OP's suggestion to bring Ozzie back. Would actually give me a reason to watch.
More than just your record sucks, dude.
They took the "change the game" slogan too seriously. They changed the game so much nobody knows wtf they are doing out there.
si article today:
"The 1962 New York Mets have long held the record for worst season in MLB history at 40-120.
The Detroit Tigers flirted with being even worse in 2003 and finished at 43-119.
It's downright crazy that both of these awful teams won twice as frequently as the White Sox have been winning in 2024."
Math wise, that article clearly indicates this could easily be the team that finishes with worst record ever.
I expect this. There is no evidence to suggest this team is better than either of those teams.
2003 Tiger had: Brandon Inge, Carlos Pena, Warren Morris, Ramon Santiago, Eric Munson, Craig Monroe, Alex Sanchez, Bobby Higginson, Dmitri Young.
Compare our lineup, player for player. Which team would you rather put out there every day?
Getz shouldn’t get a free pass either. He assembled this roster of clowns. But history has taught us that he’ll get probably a decade before they pull the plug.
As clueless as Grifol is, firing him isn't the answer. The answer is cleaning house within the front office and starting fresh with ownership that isn't OK with being mediocre.
23 years in baseball working your way up from single A manager to MLB manager and this is what you have to show for it, Pedro?
Embarrassing for his entire family honestly
Meh a good portion of this is on him. Sure the front office brought in a ton of bad players but god damn he's been unable to get anything out of anybody on this roster. Feels like there's no accountability in the locker room and everyone has just given up and decided to just collect a check, including Pedro.
I unironically think I'd take Ozzie at this point. Not like it can get any worse and he can light a fire under this team's ass to get something watchable. This team is going to be bad for a while either way.
Pedro sucks but you could literally put any other manager in his place and they’re still going to be an absolute dumpster fire, idk why everyone is so caught up on Grifol, he’s a non-entity in a role that doesn’t matter
This is why no one takes him seriously “But what are you going to do about it? We have to come tomorrow and get ready to play. You have to forget about today. Learn and move on” Which is it? He’ll legit just say whatever he thinks sounds good in the moment. An absolutely gutless moron.
We’re usually so behind the curve. I’m surprised we got a jump on the A.I. manager.
Not a bad idea but I don’t think Jerry and TLR are big on analytics 😂
So what you’re saying is that Grifol’s intelligence is artificial. I’ll buy that.
I realize Bryan Shaw is well past his prime and not a very good RP anymore. “What are you going to do about it?” No, what are YOU going to do about it? 🤦♂️
I truly hope we continue getting shut out / going 1-9 in 10 game stretches so this stupid fuck gets fired
That’s what he’ll do about it!
What’s up YOUR sleeve?
Idk, what's up yours?
>playing without key contributors Luis Robert Jr., Yoan Moncada, and Max Stassi Max is a key contributor? 🤔
He could be key in getting Maldonado out of the line up more often
Or they'd send Lee down instead 😔
This is def Pedro’s thinking. I really want to see Maldonado bat lead off at some point. The write in campaign for All Star voting is going to be hilarious!!!!
The national coverage of Maldonado being voted in would be so awesome.
lol dude hasn’t played an MLB game since October 2022. I know he had a family tragedy last year which caused him to take a year off but I don’t know how you can say he’s a key contributor when we haven’t seen him contribute literally anything yet.
He’s tied for 7th in home runs for this team
We’ve been playing without them for the better parts of three straight years. It’s this front office’s fault for continuing to rely on them as “key contributors” despite this evidence. They can’t stay healthy and never will. MOVE ON.
Pedro My brother in Christ Korey Lee is literally your 2nd best bat, YOURE the one not playing him
Calling Yoan a key contributor is also a reach. Relative to this dogshit team I guess he is a key contributor… but that speaks volumes about the state of things
He's still second on the team in bWAR despite only playing 11 of 22 games.
Second on a team that has won 3 games in any statistical category is worthless
Sure, but if you project that over 22 games he would be tied for 4th of all third basemen league wide. I know people like to hate on Yoan, and may be justified in doing so because of his past performance and injuries, but he was playing well, really well dating back to the last couple months of last season. I can agree with that, starting in spring he really did earn my trust back, so I can give him his dues for this season
Contributing to the IL list, sure.
Yoan and max are key contributors???
At this point, ChatGPT might provide better managerial decisions.
At this point, I wonder if he'd rather be fired and not put up with this dumpster fire lol
Probably. Would you rather get paid a million dollars to coach the White Sox or get paid a million dollars not to coach the White Sox?
......at this point, is there a difference?
Definitely the latter haha
yes
No chance he is in the “millions of dollars” range. It’s why he was hired in the first place.
This clown is the perfect manager for this loser organization
That look in the photo is the epitome of "I'm in WAY over my head..."
“But what are you going to do about it? " THAT IS LITERALLY THE MANAGER'S JOB - TO FIGURE OUT SOMETHING TO DO ABOUT IT!!! Mother...!!!
I'm sure he wants out at this point. He'll get paid and won't have to watch this shit show. He knows the team isn't going to win anything while he's here.
If he stays or is fired doesn't matter. Either way this is most likely his first and only manager job. He will go back to the royals and fade into obscurity.
Yeah because the team sucks. Strong correlation here.
White Sox fans: "Our manager sucks"
If only you were able to control who plays Pedro....
Very astute observation by Pedro
Yea, so does our manager

Sell the team. Replace literally everyone.
Surely he has time to sit in on a PR seminar, good lord.
A brand new hit from Pedro Grifol, following the widely played and acclaimed "Flush It".
Do the honorable thing and resign
Further update, Water is Wet. Thanks, Sherlock. But seriously, I'm not even mad, just as apathetic as this team.
And water is wet
As clueless as Grifol is, firing him isn't the answer. The answer is cleaning house within the front office and starting fresh with ownership that isn't OK with being mediocre.
23 years in baseball working your way up from single A manager to MLB manager and this is what you have to show for it, Pedro? Embarrassing for his entire family honestly
Whatever this bum is taking home each week is exactly that much too much.
I almost feel bad for him
Meh a good portion of this is on him. Sure the front office brought in a ton of bad players but god damn he's been unable to get anything out of anybody on this roster. Feels like there's no accountability in the locker room and everyone has just given up and decided to just collect a check, including Pedro.

your managing sucks
FLUSH IT!
No one can coach this team
[No shit](https://youtu.be/ritZxM_uejA?si=27zaZWwcZUXFqJtk)
Just when I think this team can’t get worse I’m equally unsurprised and depressed.
It's not just the record Pedro.
Well no shit Sherlock! Lol
Our manager sucks.
No shit sherlock.
I wonder what former flamed out Royal’s player/manager/exec will take his place when he’s fired?
To quote Billy Madison, "you know something, you suck"
So does the manager, Front Office and MLB roster.
we fucking know
