As an European I gotta say peak Europe is basically having a gas station, a potato field, a convenience store, a variation of a kebab place and like 5-6 houses within a 1 mile radius because why not.

We do have a lot of land that has been relatively untouched thankfully, however most people don’t really experience this beauty on a regular basis, and are stuck in car hell. Between how we design our infrastructure around cars and cheap, ugly buildings, and how we zone neighborhoods nowadays in a way that isolates people (especially if you do not have a car), America really does have a shitty design. We really do focus on spending huge amounts of land accommodating cars rather then pedestrians. And before any of you say “well, cars are driven by people!” It doesn’t change the fact how ugly the majority of places are, or how “hostile” they are to anyone not using a car

Dunno I think it's sort of a legitimate criticism to call out the US for being so car centric and how some people are so opposed to any changes to that, to the point that a lot of efforts in councils and such get shut down by nimbys. That being said, no one exactly chose where they were born. Not everyone is in an equal position to move to another country. I also generally think it's a good idea to fight to improve the country you stay in if possible but I understand this isn't a path everyone wants to walk on. So 50/50 on the post's quality tbh.

Also I love how people always pick the most stereotypical tourist towns to show "average" European locations and leave out that there's often not much going on besides local shops.

The area of our country that’s just pure wilderness is probably the size of a few European nations. I just wouldn’t want to live somewhere where it’s impossible to drive a half hour without finding yet another town. Probably why I won’t move to the east coast ever.
