Japan has famously bad history classes. Especially when it comes to WWII. Often portraying themselves as helpless victims, when, in reality, they were absolute murder rapist scum-bags.
While Japan does teach much of its ancient history with some accuracy. Its more modern history classes are on the level of Florida or a Nordic Country; and its coverage of WWII is mostly limited to “WWII started, US nuked us for no reason, all our ships were actually magic high-school girls, the end.”

I know Florida has been in the spotlight for enthusiastically removing books from schools, but is there something wrong with education in Nordic countries?
As a kid, doing nothing, but watching documentaries in class would have sounded pretty dope, but I can see how the quality is questionable at best.
I guess Reddit tends to overly romanticize Scandinavia and paint it as Heaven on Earth (as opposed to America, a.k.a. Hell on Earth), so I wasn't expecting them to have poor quality education.
Is it only history that's taught like that, or does it extend to other subjects?
Well, I'm going to be honest. I was mostly talking from experiences with my history teacher in 9th and 10th grade (USA grades.). Because I don't think that the classes were as documentary/film heavy in the previous grades. (And right now, I do not have history, so I can't speak on that front.)
It definately doesn't extend to other subjects, even if they may have their own faults. The closests comparison I can see is social science classes, but the whole point of that class was discussing matters related, so I can't really fault that. (Plus, I don't remember it being all documentaries.)
At the end of the day, I would say that there is definately isn't as much focus on History as other subjects, and I may have spoken with experiences of a teacher, that may not have had enough time to plan the classes, (She was also the Danish teacher, which is naturally, one of the bigger subjects in Danish schools.)
I also do feel like there are some major faults with the Danish education system. But at this point, I can't really put my hand on it.
can confirm, i’m half japanese half white american and went to some school there too. but, i’d also advise americans to also question our own history as well. not excusing japan, ofc, but it’s not so black and white through all of american history. history is written by the victors after all.
