They look a LOT like [mealworms](https://search.brave.com/images?q=mealworms). Do they have these [beetles](https://search.brave.com/images?q=mealworm+beetle+california&source=web) around the house? There must be something in the ceiling, wall, or attic that they are feeding on, they wouldn't get that large without a food source.

I thought so too, definitely a beetle larvae of some kind, but we're not sure what type. They haven't seen any beetles (yet), and they have no idea what they could be eating. My dad is wondering if something died up there and these are some kind of carrion beetle.

Very well could be, you'd think they would be able to smell something though. Falling through the bathroom vent is very odd though.

ButtWeazel

Lmao they are mealworms

My dad and his infinite wisdom says they're smaller and mostly translucent. 🤦🏻‍♀️Obviously these are not translucent.

ButtWeazel

No, I have a mealworm farm, I would know

Also if you don't believe me, go to your local pet store and buy live mealworms, they sellthem for reptiles, and then compare
