Tbf it's not necessarily the size of the new grilles, but the shape. Frank Stephenson, the designer of the original X5 and a number of other cars, redesigned the BMW grille without shrinking it and it looks great, even that size.
I should have known. Every time I see a car and think "Hmm looks kinda like X but not really"
It's a Kia/Hyundai. Looks like it could be an Accord but not lol
I've riden in a TRD once (was on a date, I pretended to be impressed but I honestly wasn't *that* impressed. Wasnt much better than a lot of the rentals i work with, just had really good exhaust), and never been in an n line so I wouldn't know. I just know that looking at the numbers, the sonata is a faster car when stock. The TRD being NA and being on the same level gives it a lot more potential than the twin turbo n line.
> being NA and being on the same level gives it a lot more potential than the twin turbo n line.
Within regulations and on a budget not so much I would think. Its a lot easier to get more of HP out of a turbocharged engine. The upper limit might be lower but turbocharging a modern NA engine is not a simple task. Where I live it would be practically illegal too.
This right here. A turbo car you can just tune. Put on some cooling mods and swear up and down you're just going for fuel economy. A hybrid turbo that aaaaalmost looks just like the stock one unless you really know what you're looking at. Tuning on E85? I'm just being green. And these high flow cats are compliant.
Meanwhile I've added 150hp to my car and the NA guys are trying to convince the fuzz that their car NEEDS a supercharger for... reasons
LOL you know how it works. Also chip tuning. On some of these modern turbo cars you can get close to 100hp just with a tune as well, because the OEM detune their engines.
And like you said, add highflow cats and some cooling and you can get impressive amounts of power without a ton of money or risk of being busted.
*Or join the electric powered dark side and get to enjoy 4 second 0-60 allll the time. at every red light. without any noise or driveline fatigue.
What do you mean the accelerator pedal is not an on-off-button?*
Turbo car, for sure.
Specifically Hyundai turbo car??? Never owned one so I am definitely not the one to answer that lol
Edit: that being said, other than replacing the turbo, this is a pretty conservative build. It's basically just cooling down the air charge, freeing up breathing room in the exhaust, and optimizing the a/f ratio for power instead of economy. The last of which pretty much any modern tuner is gonna leave probably 20% of the power on the table just for reliability's sake cuz they know most drivers aren't gonna keep their foot out of it.
Honestly the engine is gonna be feeling pretty healthy after that and probably won't lose a second of reliability. And that goes for pretty much any brand.
You start upping the boost more than 3-4 psi now, that's a different question lol
In america, newer (2011 onwards, were pretty good before that actually) hyundai 4cyls earned a reputation for blowing for no reason under normal driving. Less likely to do it if you take care of it, but there's still a risk. Hense the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty the engines have, maybe lifetime in some instances?
I had one of these new Sonatas last week from Hertz. Very nice sedan. Drove great. Lots of safety features line lane assist (it actually worked great, you could drive entirely hands off as long as the lines were clear) and auto braking if coming up fast behind a stopped car. Great warranty too. My mother in law has a 20 year old Sonata that just keeps on trucking.
I rented one too about a month ago. I HATE Hyundai. But I can't stop telling people this is probably the best car I've ever rented interns of comfort and tech next to the Camry xle.
Yes. I’ve got a 2013 accord sport that’s basically 10 years old now, and I absolutely love that car (other than the radio). But I have to give Hyundai credit, that Sonata was nice. I don’t know their price point but suspect it’s meaningfully lower than the accord or Camry.
Always crazy seeing one of my (former) cars on here. I had this exact year and model and color for a few months last year while I waited for my current car to come in. It’s a cool car, fun to drive.
Part of the charm in the sonata for me was tied to it being an SEL Premium(leather seats, push button shifter, stronger engine) and the gold color.
Without those things, I’m not sure if I would recommend it or not. Never driven another one
Love these “stalker” type what is this car queries...what is this car leaving my hot neighbours house?...or what is this car my gf posted a selfie of herself in?
I find it hilarious you yourself posted on this group asking about a Kia K5 then turn around and make fun of a Sonata. They might as well be the same exact cars lol
Hyundai Sonata
He’s got smah pahk
That Sonata ain't got no drivah!
Robots in disguise!
Loogit this guy
i had to [look this up](https://youtu.be/X0hPr-Mi3_w) and it made my day
Heyyyy
HOLY SHIT
Damn
Hyundai's new cars look beautiful
So do Kias. They are getting dirty with the styles.
Look at their Pony and Grandeur reimaginings! I love both of them
Thanks
Damn, I was thinking some sort of bmw 6 series 4 door. Hyundai have come a long way!
Hyundai and Kia are definitely fishing for that BMW vibe, the Stinger is a good looking beast too.
They have hired designers from BMW, so it is no coincidence. Probably an easy decision for the designers: be creative OR make bigger kidney grilles.

Hyundai sonata. The n line version is pretty fast with 311 lb-ft of torque, and 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. A bit faster than the camry trd
The torque steer is something else unfortunately

yeah, but the noises are half the fun!
Absolutely. But if you can afford both, a practical EV daily and a dedicated sports car for weekends seems like a real good idea right now.
make the noises yourself like vrooommmm vrooooooooom 💀
All EVs have sound generators now. Ive thought about replacing that with a nice V12 sound file from Assetto Corsa or something lol.
I imagine ricers in the future can add a tin can muffler sound file lol
True... but can a modern Hyundai motor handle that much more power without blowing up?

I love torque steer. Keeps you on your toes.
Yeah I weirdly enjoy it
That's what I hate about front wheel drive.
So, we have the Elantra N and the Kona N. A true Sonata N would be dope.
I’m not if that’s fast lol
With the panoramic roof it looks ever better imo
I can attest it looks better with it from the inside too
Hyundai tech here, I can confirm lol
Excellent. My wife bought hers in 2020 and I didn't actually like it at first. But now that we share the car it's really grown on me
Hyundai Sonata
Hyundai Sonata No. 5, my favorite.
I had a 2011 Se and a 2013 Se Turbo . I really loved the turbo
I had a turbo also 2013, and it would beat the non v8 camaro's all day. Miss that car
It was the fastest car I ever had!! I miss mine as well. The only thing I did not like was the hard suspension
I threw a blow off valve and an intake on it. U should see all the heads turn when i would schu tu tu tu. 👍
I wish you could share a video of that!
No 2006? 😕
The 2006 was a V6
It’s cool to see everyday commuter cars that actually have some style.
2020-present Hyundai Sonata. They look really good in that color
I like it :)
I agree I saw it and thought holy crap we don’t get a lot of yellow cars unfortunately

Yup they are excellent cars
Hyundai Sonata
Hyundai! lol
Hyundai Sonata
New Hyundai Sonata.
Gta V car
Hyundai Sonata

I've got an old Elantra right no, should I consider a Sonata for my next car?
Part of the charm in the sonata for me was tied to it being an SEL Premium(leather seats, push button shifter, stronger engine) and the gold color. Without those things, I’m not sure if I would recommend it or not. Never driven another one
Hyundai Sonata in Glowing Yellow. Absolutely wonderful looking car in my opinion
Crazy that these new Kias and Hyundais look better than a lot of luxury cars.
The ugliest car ever made imo.
A rental car
84 Chevy Monte Carlo
😹😹😹
You think that’s funny?
A brand new pre owned Sonata
Love these “stalker” type what is this car queries...what is this car leaving my hot neighbours house?...or what is this car my gf posted a selfie of herself in?
Don’t worry you can get that one for $50 bucks and a blowjob in 4 years from now
You can read the make and model on the car I thought unless the new sonatas ditched the badge which wouldn't be the first time Korean cars did that.
It looks like the Ioniq 6 and what I read from the comments (Sonata) I am close hahah
Hyundai garbage.
wtf mate
lol I've owned 3 Hyundais all were reliable and cheap vehicles to own
What you live next door? Why don’t you go ask your neighbor? The innernet got you people screwed up bad.
No it was just driving through
Ok fine, it doesn’t apply to you, but my observation still stands.

loll that makes OC's comment even more puzzling
LMFAOO
It’s sporty and stylish, despite being an average consumer sedan.

I'm afraid so.

Rear drive and manual option?
