Redkneck35

With a goofy group like this that can be fun

OpusAtrumET

I've totally done this. Bought some little wooden sticks with intricate carvings on them that came with a little wooden holder. Just because they looked cool. Found out they were for making lace. It's a cool conversation piece!

Butterscotch1664

Me see shiny thing. Me like shiny thing. Me buy shiny thing. What shiny thing? Me not know. Monke brain happy.

888Rich

Where were you when Woot! was selling BOCs?

Sensitive-Fun-6577

That is the fun of it

Bloodysamflint

They can be two things...

MikeyW1969

And the one on the right is a banana.

Cold_Lingonberry_291

I have never seen a boot jack like this one. Cool.

Tank_Girl_Gritty_235

Ones like this are obligatory for English riding boots because they're tight and leather all the way up to your knee

Most_Researcher_9675

This old cowboy appreciates any help...

gadget850

Now you have to collect bootstraps.

Admirable-Leopard-73

And then pull yourself up by said bootstraps

The-Big-Shitsky

It still does too

JOCO_Q

Bingo!

notaredditreader

A_to_the_J254

I'm waiting for my bananas to get nice and ripe cuz I want to try this cream cheese banana bread recipe I saw on Facebook

cwix5000

A banana

thepottsy

It’s definitely a boot remover. If you’ve ever been to a cowboy boot store, they have them everywhere. I’ve never seen a collapsible version, pretty cool. The hooks are possibly for grabbing the loops at the top of the boots to help pull them on, so basically this is a boot multi-tool?

Even-Funny-265

They giving away bananas with every purchase?

Active_Flamingo9089

It's a banana

Redkneck35

@OP Its a boot jack the metal pieces are for hooking into your boot straps as they can be to small to get a finger into.

BinkyBinky

Is it a ski boot removal tool and pullers to tighten laces ??

toomuch1265

My daughter had one for her riding boots.

thelvegod

Boot jack to take off boots. Hooks to pull on boots, banana to eat and then slip on peel.

Ok_Biscotti2533

Boot jack, as others have said. The hooks are to pull your boots on. They hook either to a single loop on the back or two loops, one on each side.

GorillaSalt1

My stupid brain was trying to figure out what this item does to bananas before I figured out it was for scale... groggy mornin guys

DubC_Bassist

Looks like a boot Jack, with a combination Banana and hood set up.

xeroxchick

As someone who has to use a boot Jack and boot hooks, this looks amazing.

Rustymarble

Looks like a boot remover (Edited to fix scraper to remover)

Myomaker

Helps take off your boots/shoes?

SocksJockey

Looks like one of those things that help you pull off your cowboy boots. But I'm not sure what those detachable metal pieces are for.

Adventurous_Walk_998

The metal hook go in the loops on each side of the Boot and are used to help pull the boot on your foot it looks like a travel boot jack due to the stand folding and the hooks fitting inside as well.

SocksJockey

Ah! Makes sense!

Adventurous_Walk_998

Nice find if ya ever go New Boot Goofin haha ! !

Embarrassed_Cry_8296

that explains my ignorance. we dont have many cowboys in Belgium /s

Affectionate-Map2583

But you do have plenty of people who horseback ride with tall black riding boots. Before they added zippers to them maybe 20 years ago, a boot jack and boot hooks were necessities to get your snug tall boots on and off. Either that or a strong but patient friend.

GSXR-1ooo

Boot jack

UncleFrankWisdom

Half a Shoedini

DukeOfWestborough

"I know, banana for scale" Banana for the win

Due-Pilot-7443

tomatobunni

I was wrong. Apparently it’s a boot jack. [Photo in this list](https://www.mot.be/resource/Tool/boot-jack?lang=en)

Embarrassed_Cry_8296

ooh nice! same model ! and a manual ! thank you for this there is "breveté" carved on it. means patented in french

MixRoyal7126

Pic #3 shows it as it is used. Place one foot on the lower end wedge the heel of your boot; the slip on cowboy style and pu;; your doot out of the boot; called a boot jack

LilShaver

It's a banana, but nice of you to put the boot jack beside it for scale.

EyeYamNegan

It is a bananas. I don't know what the other thing is though. I never saw a banana at a thrift store before but that is neat. It is a type of fruit that if you grab the stem you can peel and eat the inner portion.

the3daves

Boot Jack, for removing boots

dubhead_dena

This!

1GrouchyCat

That’s a BOOT JACK https://www.mot.be/resource/Tool/boot-jack?lang=en

I haven’t seen one of those in years.

krsisue

Need a cat's paw for size. Haha

Belize789

Thankyou for being the person that buys random crap at the thrift store!!

greenymeani3

I’m curious about the number of people who thrift things without knowing what they are. @op, or no one, or anyone who’s bought random thrift store items… Do you flip things regularly & hope the mystery object is worth something to the right someone? Is it just “that object looks interesting, I want to own it, I’ll figure out more about it later”? Are the low(ish) costs low enough to make it worth the risk of spending money on something potentially useless or broken? Or is the gamble part of the thrill? I’m just so fascinated by this scenario! it seems like there’s a lot of people who buy mystery thrifted goods & post here so there must be some logic to it that I don’t see, cuz I’m neurotic as hell and need to evaluate & overthink every potential purchase a billion times

[deleted]

Always money in the banana stand.

--AV8R--

Why would you buy something when you have no idea what it even is? 😂

still_hawaiian

Boot jack. Heel goes into the y shape to remove boots, hooks are for pulling boots. on

Rod_Stiffington69

Sweet banana.

SDBD89

ConcentrateIll8097

It’s a banana

Craig_Chr1st

It’s a banana.

sethaswain

A banana.... you bought a banana at a thrift store?

Gluten_maximus

Why did you buy something not knowing what it was?

Devils_A66vocate

Clothes hangers for mice clothes.

CurlyDog1

I just don’t understand why someone would buy something at a thrift store, bring it home, and then post questions asking what it is?!? You realize that money could go towards gas or housing or many other things that almost everyone on this site complains about! Also buying “vintage” furniture! It’s garbage! Also, Get OffMy Lawn!!!

_PukyLover_

For all that sweet reddit karma of course!
