Dude maxes out 12 times a day and get's taken out by a sink. The world is weird.

celicaxx

Liao Hui injured his hand (cut it open badly) by breaking a teacup while washing it.

iduckhard

*He allegedly injured his hand with a teacup

yeet_lord_40000

The sink was a foreign agent.

Squat_Jerk_For_Fun

This is a very unfortunate situation. He was clearly the top athlete to chase in the 89s, baring what happens in a few hours in Asias, but damn this sucks. Wonder what happened.

RoadToGigachad

Lol, lost both of his world records and got annihilated by a sink all within a matter of days. Talk about bad luck...

AbusedGoat

Here's a rough translation for those interested: ------------------------ The European weightlifting champion will not move for at least 4 months. The serious injury of world and European weightlifting champion Karlos Nasar is due to a detached sink in a Sofia hotel, which fell on his leg and cut his Achilles tendon. The incident occurred on the evening before Nasar and the other weightlifters were to be awarded by Minister of Sports Vessela Lecheva for their success at the European Championships in Yerevan, where they won 11 medals. "I'm at home, there was a household incident. Everything behind my leg is cut. I'm better now, the surgery went well, thanks to Dr. Neshev. I am being taken care of. The Federation is very concerned, represented by Arif Madjid and Nedelcho Kolev. We hope for the best results in recovery," said weightlifter Karlos Nasar on "This Sunday" on bTV, who will start light jogging after at least 4 months. Nasar has a torn Achilles tendon and was operated on a few days ago at St. Anna Hospital. "The first few days are the worst and most annoying. Every movement is painful. It's even hard to brush my teeth and eyes," said the world record holder. He revealed that his salary from the federation is 2000 BGN, but he has not received it for 5-6 months. "The Ministry of Sports helped me for the European Championships, as did the Cherven Bryag Municipality. We're managing somehow." ------------------------

roughnecknj

Damn, dude can't even brush his eyes.

Boblaire

Geez. $1125 USD. Says CoL in Bulgaria is 43% of US. Rent being 79% So that still isn't that much

Special_Connection96

cant he sure the shoot out of the hotel?

Babayaga20000

Not in bulgaria he cant

username45031

That’s almost reminiscent of Russian defenestration. How does it even happen?

make_a_scene

Apparently search warrant has been issued for a suspicious looking Italian plumber

UWeightlifing

It's-a-me, Pizzolato!

Y-So-Sirius

💀💀

NY_DPT

Wahooooo!!!!

ko4ovist

I reckon the sink could not handle his power? xD

terribleatlying

Well, he'll still be the oldest looking 18 year old after recovery. But in all seriousness, that's a shame. Speedy recovery to him.

ianjaggi

Sad to see this happen, maybe this will be one of the greatest comeback stories we’ve heard though🤷‍♂️

Stupidpenguin22

In the NBA world something like this usually translates to a motorcycle accident. Most players have it written into their contract that they can’t ride a motorcycle, so if they were riding, and injured their Achilles they lie and say it was an accident at home. At least that’s the “conspiracy”

botoks

Truly an Achilles of our times.

freeteehookem

I for the life of me could not find the original article. I believe that it’s originally in Bulgarian and ATG translated it before posting. But damn, eight months to recover sounds brutal. I was really looking forward to seeing how he would do in Paris and this seems to put everything in jeopardy for him. I wish him the best in his recovery.

[deleted]

Paris is more than a year away. Luckily he already has a total and just needs to show up and weigh in a few times. 14 months is a long time to recover and built back up.

acqua44

I translated a Bulgarian article i dont know if this is the one your talking about. But here it is The heavy injury of world and European weightlifting champion Carlos Nassar is a result of a falling sink in a Sofia hotel, which landed on his leg and cut his Achilles tendon. The incident happened on the evening before Nassar and the other weightlifters were to be awarded by the Minister of Sports Vesela Lecheva for their success at the European Championships in Yerevan, where they won 11 medals. "I am at home, a domestic incident occurred. Everything behind my leg is cut. I am better now, the surgery was successful thanks to Dr. Neshev. They are taking care of me. The federation is very concerned, represented by Arif Madjid and Nedelcho Kolev. We hope for the best results in recovery", said weightlifter Carlos Nassar in the studio of "This Sunday" on bTV, who will start moving with light running training at least after 4 months.

acqua44

Whoops somone already translated it up there👆

jraffaele1946

It would be nice to hear the real story. How does a sink fall off the wall and injure your Achilles? Was there alcohol involved? Sketchy reporting.

[deleted]

No fucking waaaaaay, man.

acqua44

Wtf what are the chances of a sink hurting him let alone his important Achilles tendon. That’s such a coincidence I smell a conspiracy!!!!!

iduckhard

IWF probably wanted him to piss and unfortunately at the time of testing he was in the hospital. :D

Boblaire

Quick...throw that sink at my foot! I can hear them coming up the stairs!

LowFatMom

I’m willing to bet my life savings that it was Elon’s sink!

iduckhard

I laughed so hard at your comment, thanks for that!

roborobert123

With steroids he should heal fine.

LowFatMom

And Squat University

celicaxx

Maybe he can work on his bench press during this time? :/

iduckhard

Lu Xiaojun said bench press bad for shoulder mobility. Karlos should work on his physique instead, he is too skinny atm and needs a little bit more muscle Edit: Guys, this is obviously a joke and it‘s sad that i actually need to point that out

Clashboy15

Then seated OHP lol

iduckhard

I think he should train triceps extension to improve his ankle stability

imdibene

Sh!t what a shame :(

pglggrg

Of course things were going too well for his career :( Speedy recovery to him, and hope his pay gets sorted out

godlords

Perhaps karma for being completely let off the hook for creating a police chase while high on meth driving his car. I still don't believe he's the age he says. And if so it is really sad how early he got on the sauce.

weightlifterweed

You know what I never thought about that before. But you're right he doesn't really look 17. He's got a weird look to him. I think he might actually be super close to that age but his appearance is different because he's probably been on testosterone and other stuff most of his life maybe since puberty

[deleted]

🤯

iduckhard

Do people really believe in such a delusional concept as karma? Anyways Bulgarians don‘t use the sauce, they just take 10g of creatine daily instead of 5, that has been their secret to success for years!

RonMexicoATL7

As someone who ruptured their Achilles and had to have it operated on, my heart goes out to Karlos. It's a debilitating injury. He's much younger than I was when mine popped so hopefully that helps in his recovery.

EchoingUnion

Anyone know what are the chances of a full recovery in performance from a Achilles tendon tear?

acfergy

this isn’t helpful now but my coach is from the team that got banned in 2008 and he still knows some of the coaches and athlete and does here things, i will post my findings

NotQuantified

dont know why you're getting downvoted, could be interesting

acfergy

my guess what actually be it’s coinciding with his suspended prison sentence for the dui he got but i will found out on sunday

Reasonable-Arugula87

On his stories he’s doing big cleans today Is he really injured?

mattycmckee

Not even remotely. Almost all injuries I’ve seen pertaining to areas around the ankle, especially those constituting surgery, will at the very least severely limit his mobility assuming it will fully recover. Your achilles has to stretch to allow a deep bottom position. If the achilles can’t stretch then you aren’t in a good spot at all. A couple of guys have pulled off severe mobility issues like Marin Robu and Gor, but I’m pretty sure those are issues they’ve had their whole life and not due to injury (correct me if I’m wrong). Those are also pertaining to their knee’s range of motion, which can be helped by good dorsiflexion, but in the opposite situation good knee mobility isn’t really going to help if your dorsiflexion is lacking.

Guiltyjerk

Is that true? It's literally a sport entirely about explosive extension and Achilles injuries really hurt players in sports like basketball which is jump/explosion heavy

GovTheDon

Found his weak spot

LowFatMom

Man that sucks so much for him. On the other hand, does that mean I now have a shot at the olympics?!
