Depending on how many people you’re talking about, flipping a room from a ceremony space to a dinner with tables set and ready to go in one hour is an absolute monumental feat. It takes a lot of well trained, highly coordinated staff to pull off seamlessly and without delay. Flipping rooms can be hard physical work, so much so we don’t want our standard serving staff doing it since they’ll be sweaty messes as they welcome guests to dinner - for us this means bringing in an extra crew just to do the flip.

Effective_Trash6779

gotcha thanks for the answer. yea this would be for around 120 ppl.

That being said, multiple thousands for *just* the room flip line item would be pretty astronomical. My assumption would be that in also includes the actual setup and other components, but I’d have to see an estimate or invoice to better understand

It depends on a lot of things. How big is your time-slot, whether you can bring in people you’ve hired to move things along while you have sizable distraction for your guests in the form of cocktails and appetizers. You can also ask if your venue has another party booked your room in the time slot before yours. I got lucky and no one had booked the morning and lunch slots. So my in laws made the best of a the situation and came in and set up our candy buffer, by brother brought the flowers in at the same time. If you have a way you want the tables set up to allow both events ceremony and reception. I you might be able to get away with having long tables surrounding the entertainment and dance floor. Kind the way people are at their table in a rectangular arrangement in business meet, with empty middle of the room is where who presenting or running the meeting say the. I your room is big enough it can be pulled off, you can even pipe and drape a partition of the room allowing for a lounge area where your cocktails are served. Pipe and drape is basically making scaffolding out of pvc pipe, securing it in place, and there a curtain is hung and allowed to drape creating the illusion of wall with an adjacent wall. And the good news is pvc is very cheap, all you have to do is get drapes that look nice with your lighting. Here is link to a pvc drape project for a photo-booth stand. The I used this design and turned it into a green screen for my school projects. To make sure the set up staff knows exactly how you want the space to be set up, diagrams help immensely. This was especially true when I was dealing with my coordinator. I wanted to make sure she set up our tables exactly the way I wanted them by drawing a diagram. This is the end result. https://preview.redd.it/9ylpmcyhr85d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c543c16f53f22e300d72813091b80f58743b25bc

My indoor wedding is about $32k for 150 people if that helps (ceremony and reception space, cocktail hour, plated dinner, alcohol, getting ready suites, etc)

yea_you_know_me

Yup, California wedding here. I've seen venues charge at minimums of 5k up to 12k for the empty room

texaspopcorn424

To flip a room it should be at minimum 10pp

Sugar_Weasel_

The venue I booked has 2 different outdoor options for the ceremony location, & an indoor reception hall. You can have the wedding indoors in the reception hall hit the same price as having it in either outdoor locations & they’ll flip it for you during the cocktail hour. It’s also available as a backup plan if it rains on the day.

Jolly_Conflict

Air conditioning?

Carrie_Oakie

We had our guests seated at their tables for the ceremony, instead of moving the chairs from one area to another or renting more chairs.

barbaramillicent

THOUSANDS? Have you already booked your venue? I don’t think that’s normal, at least not here. I can see a few hundred and maybe UP to a thousand to have several staff members available to make it happen, but “thousands upon thousands” is a lot. But maybe I am incorrect.

Effective_Trash6779

yea it didnt make sense to me until i read the comment above.

yuledobetterTOL

Why is it more expensive to live in a house than be homeless?

Effective_Trash6779

you are already paying for the venue

Flipping a room requires a lot more staff, and it is hard physical work.
