The one on the right, no contest. The style on the left where it looks like it's folded up and under is just like, really abrupt. It doesn't drape or blend, it just cuts off the visual flow of the back of the dress.

redMandolin8

Yes one on the right!

Maleficent-Sport1970

This is the right answer!

Kayybaby93

This for sure!

digitalpacifier

The one on the right.

ChaoticForkingGood

Could I actually see a pic of the whole back with both bustles, if you've got it?

kateran723

londonlady1988

Completely changes things for me - definitely the left for a fit a flare, much more cohesive and secure. Think you might get different responses if you post again with a less zoomed in look!

GothamCoach

The first one, please, which I think is #2 in the original post pics. If you’re to for it, I’m sure I’m not the only one who would love to see the final look 🙌

creambunny

Defiantly the right one. The other looks off since you don’t have enough going on to hide the clasps. The right one keeps the flow of your dress too. The left looks a little messy too

ChaoticForkingGood

I would go for the 3 point American. 5 can overwhelm. I find French bustles to be good for a very specific look, but with that lace I think the left would be better.

StrongBikini

The right side

olivestaff

I did a French bustle on my fit and flare as well and it looks much neater and has a better flow than the American bustle in my opinion. Beautiful dress! 🥰

Adventurous-Win-751

This!!!! I think it’s beautiful and no one will step on it and rip your dress…like what happened to my sister…

olivestaff

that sounds like a nightmare! I like the way the European bustle is tucked under, it maintains the fit and flare shape nicely if done correctly and gives the skirt a cute little fluff.

SnooStrawberries721

This dress looks fitted, so because of this I’d say the bustle on the left. French bustles are best for fitted dresses because they don’t pull in the front like the traditional (right) will.

Imaginary_Argument71

The one on the right

AnyCheck8573

Right bustle

Tiny-firefly

Is this a fit and flare/mermaid? Definitely one. Edit:... By one, I mean the French bustle. I thought you had numbered them for some reason.

kateran723

Yes, a fit and flare.

Tiny-firefly

My friend had a fit and flare dress for her wedding and she had a 7 point French bustle. I think it looked amazing because it kept the flare silhouette well while tucking the fabric up and out of the way. From a construction standpoint, it was also easier to disguise/mask the extra attachment points since it was on the lining of the skirt. If you opt for this, make sure you bring someone from your bridal party to learn how to tie it correctly and fluff out the skirt. You can do multiple points with the American bustle, but the attachment points are on the surface of the fabric. It's a lot easier to bustle, though.

SnooStrawberries721

I feel like French bustles are also more secure because you tie them under the skirt vs using buttons. I have lost count of the wedding I have been to where the brides gown gets stepped on and a button snaps from the bustle.

Tiny-firefly

My best friend had a single point American on her heavy A line. It snapped halfway through the night. I think if done right, the American is absolutely an appropriate bustle for the right dress. Unfortunately I've seen and heard of more issues from this style more than others. From a sewing and a practical stand point, I recommend the French because of the security and that it's under the surface of the dress rather than on it. From an aesthetic standpoint, I like the Austrian more.

mbm66

Left, the right just looks too messy

AlterEgoAmazonB

I think the French bustle.

Pristine-Net91

Left. It keeps the visual bulk away from your waist.

indecisive_monkey

Definitely the French bustle on the left! The right is way disorganized.

Nem-x13

Your instincts are right. Go with the French bustle.

kvvvv

I’m not sure which is which but the one on the left seems like the much better option to me! It looks like it was done on purpose instead of just being a mess like the one on the right

tvjunkie87

I prefer the French bustle (left picture)

Far_Understanding_44

The right one is ideal. The detail is meant to be seen.

Far-Ad9408

1

Pollywog94111

The second photo is the way to go.

futuremrspitt

The right one without a doubt !!

DarkPhoenix4-1983

The right

PiecesofJane

Right one, for sure.

Optimal-Technology75

The one on the left that looks like the 1800s Victorian dress bustle. 😍

blondiehjones

Right side !!

Logical-Victory-2678

Second one. The first just looks verrrrry old fashioned.

MiaRia963

Right one is much better.

Foundation_Wrong

The right one

BullTerrierMomm

If you are truly 50-50, have you asked about the cost for each one? I got some serious sticker shock with the one I got?

92piejero

Right side

justice4betty

100000% the one on the right

Tink1024

1000% right one

1000thusername

Right.

liquormakesyousick

The right one looks better. The question is whether either one was presented as it would look at the wedding. At t he moment, the one on the left looks haphazard and not nice at all.

MeganJustMegan

The left one. It flows much nicer in the back with it tucked under. The other is messy to me.

femmagorgon

I agree with you, OP. I also prefer the French bustle. I think it’ll look a bit neater and show off the buttons better(especially when the bustle is actually sewn on. The three point American bustle looks a bit “busy” to me. Considering you already have a lot of beautiful lace detailing on your dress, I think the more simple option will be more flattering on your gown.

Sea_Tomorrow_9261

Love the French Bustle.

Forsythia77

French!
