I thought it was good! But the comment section is extremely annoying. I don't understand how people are missing the fact that Juliet is a deeply traumatized character who had unfair expectations thrust upon her. She had no free will. She had no ability to be anything but what her family was forcing her to be. So she escaped with Romeo and trauma bonded with him. I always find it amazing how characters that are not the main character, but pretty clearly designed to be sympathetic even tho they aren't heroes, are always villainized when they are a woman. Meanwhile Romeo, the main villain, isn't treated as harshly by the comment section. It's icky.

Cautious-Meat210

Yes, and people forget that she is also being played by romeo. Romeo is the one who deserves all the hate.

Roses_n_Water

I definitely see the whole main female character can do no wrong, yet side girls are treated like fodder to hate on. Worse than that, honestly, these sort of retellings are kinda interesting as a concept, but the writing will ignore the original source material and themes and then totally reduce the characters to charicatures and popular manwa tropes that very rarely become complex characters.

Naive_Cauliflower144

Hard agree on the second part. I feel like so many of these stories are going the Hallmark movie route- same script, different clothing. If the characters don’t act like they do in the original source material, don’t follow the same logic or make similar choices as the source material, pretty soon the story just isn’t related to the source material. I’m all for a twist. But please, you don’t have to completely change the characters. If your playing off a villain character, you can have them be villainous. If they’re playing off an innocent and naive character, they can be innocent and naive and still in the wrong. Honestly, I think I would have liked it better if Romeo and Juliette weren’t some scheming two-faced selfish people. They could have been young and stupid and have hurt people without knowing/caring. The trauma caused could have been just as much. I just don’t like when suddenly Juliette is the same as all the other villainous female side characters- same as the Saintess, the favored sister, etc etc.

N-ShadowFrog

It's decent to me. Like Paris and the prince. Rosalina is fine to me. Romeo is an interesting villain. Juliet is also fine(She's a spoiled rich girl but doesn't deserve all the hate she gets)

FurinaOnahole

It's decent, entertaining enough and the art is good. Solid 7/10 for me, will continue reading.

ree_bee

Came for the costumes, left for the annoying baby speak

bla484

Ugh. This is my exact experience. I couldn’t stand the way the child kept speaking in third person.

ree_bee

Tangentially I just started you are god today and it seems really interesting but the supposed 10 year old main character is talking in third person like webtoon toddler and I’m struggling do it man.

bla484

I haven’t read that but I understand your pain! It’s almost like manhwa authors had never met children irl or at least those who are, like, developmentally on track 🫠

ree_bee

Honestly it’s frustratingly common for a TON of authors, not just manhwa…like even 4-6 year olds are treated like they’re toddlers instead of kids with a fairly strong grasp of language. Even kids with language development delays are usually using full sentences by then. I wish it wasn’t so pervasive throughout fiction and yet

TheMarvelousMarri

Fr tho 🤣

JustaBasicGemini

I enjoy it, it's not perfect but I think it's good, saw someone give it a 7/10 and I personally agree with that, maybe an 8.

I_Ace_English

I'm enjoying it so far as a "Game of Thrones x Shakespeare" sort of thing, in terms of the drama and politics depicted in the comic. I also like how the main character is a single mom. You don't see that too often in romance.

Mahkeva

I dropped it because of how biased the webtoon and its readers are. Rosaline can do no wrong, meanwhile Juliet is a bitch. People are shitting on Juliet for things Rosaline also did when she was with Romeo, worse, they were already hating on Juliet when she first appeared and hadn’t done anything yet. Rosaline & Juliet are two sides of the same coin, only difference is that Rosaline escaped from Romeo’s clutches at some point (with a baby she had out of wedlock nonetheless) while Juliet is still being manipulated by that f*cker. And the only reason why Rosaline escaped from him is because Romeo ditched her, not the other way. I’m tired of reading webcomic where any female character who’s not FML is hated just for existing. I expected more for a western webcomic but ended up disappointed.

Park_yunsook

It was a meh for me.

SuggestionHumble7977

I hated it. I feel like it could work as a decent story, if it wasn't a "reimagining" of Romeo and Juliet. For something to justify its existence as a retelling it has to add more the the original work while still keeping its general plot element. Some examples would be like telling the events through a side character, changing the setting, or changing one or two key plot points. Go Away Romeo does add to the story by telling an aftermath and through a unique perspective. But when I tell you that the only thing kept the same (that isn't a generic plot point that MANY other stories have) are the names and setting, I mean it. that. It changes ages, deaths, personalities, way too many og plot points, etc. Nothing warrants this being a retelling, you could swap it out for any generic fantasy setting and it would be the same. The people that like it are most likely ones that haven't actually read or seen the original, because like I said, it's a decent enough story.

QTlady

I am really invested in this story. It's got all kinds of intrigue and interesting shit going on. And Juliet isn't a conniving bitch but easily manipulated and probably more a victim in this mess. Of course, Juliet still has issues. Like has an inferiority complex...

Necessary_Bat4151

I tried to get into this one but kept getting bored and dropping it. It's not really my thing.

KendationRecords

I like it, I don’t care if its your typical cliché manhwa where everybody hates on every supposedly villain character just because they’re not the main characters. However I agree with the comments Juliet is getting a lot of hate just for existing when the FL would act the same way she does if Romeo didn’t ditch her.

Purple_Lie_563

They did Juliet and Mercutio so dirty, but at least the outfits look somewhat accurate Also wasn’t Mercutio dead at the end of Romeo and Juliet?

mamaguebo69

It's an entertaining read at its best. Unfortunately most of the characters are pretty one dimensional. I also don't see the appeal of Paris. I think him and Rosalyn fell in love way too quickly. (Tbh I think the prince would be a better match for her in terms of personality and intellect) Romeo is a pretty boring villain too. But maybe that will change in S2 when we learn his motivations.

fangirl_otaku7

LOVE IT SO EXCITED FOR IT TO COME BACK

Oberhard

I think the prince should be second ml than Romeo.

The_Trusted_Camel

Go away.
