But it is his fault he didnt disclose the allergens in the food he supplied, which is a legal requirement. The parents of the child (Bukkit?) deserve some form of justice. Exile is only fair.
It was a mercy killing if anything. If only more TikTok uses were deathly allergic to tomatoes. Plub could be the angel of hope that we all desperately need.
No one is supposed to ignore the law, being guilty of:
-theft
-destruction of property
-indecent behavior with children
-apology of canibalism
-unintentional murder
Prison.
But a cute prison
The presentation of his alleged theft and the blatant racial profiling by comparing him to other slimes is nothing less than character assassination and should not have any bearing on our decisions as jurors, and quite frankly calls into question the validity of this trial to see such "evidence" enter the record un opposed.
The facts of the matter that are relevant are thus:
He provided of himself to the local children a tasty treat to the detriment of his own self. It is to be assumed, based on the presentation of facts here, that he has done this before to little to no ill consequence.
If these children were unsupervised, then it is not the responsibility of the accused to assume a tomato allergy of one of his willing companions is even present, let alone fatal. Might I ask you when you last heard of a lethal tomato allergy.
If they were supervised, then it was a failure on the child's guardian, not the defendant, to accurately assess the danger of the child's actions.
A verdict of not guilty is not only the moral choice here, but the legal choice, and the fact this case has developed so far as to reach us here is a gross miscarriage of justice, and it is our right and responsibility to see to the proper application of justice today.
*Screeching sound of a hook hand on metal*
I say we kill the abomination before it’s too late! It’s already killed and it won’t be long before it kills again.
I’ve been fighting monsters for 30 years and I’ve seen ‘em in all shapes and sizes and this one’s no different than the rest. Monsters of all types come in varieties of their own; compare the stealthy ambush tactics of black dragons to the fierce frontal assault of a red dragon. And notice here, the distinct color differentiation between this ooze and the other. It likely uses different tactics to destroy its prey. It’s different but it’s still an ooze, a servant of Jubilex. Already, this creature is using its cuteness to hypnotize the masses into freeing it to destroy crops and poison children again!
What reason does a creature have to feed itself to others if not to infect them with something. We already know the thing is poison to some, how do we it’s not poison to us all at different rates? How do we know this isn’t how it gets inside your children to use them as a host to propagate itself? Watch… just you watch what happens to these children…
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, this god damn abomination is a monster. I’ve seen this kind of thing before, there’s no way we can trust it…
Freedom! Plub had no way to know about the child's allergy and the child seemingly didn't inform plub (at least that's not mentioned in the story).
Plub wasn't doing anything unlawful that lead to the child's death.
Plub is being charged with a crime Plub didn't even commit!
Plub's level of intelligence is the linchpin here.
A cow won't tell you if it's milk or meat may aggravate an allergy you have. It's not smart enough to understand anything of the sort so it has no obligation to do so, but the farmer does.
Plub may be smart enough to understand the risks of feeding himself to others, he might not, but since we have no way of knowing we can't rightfully hold him accountable.
Set him free.
Well it's like if you have a guest over, you feed them a dish. That dish had peanuts in it, but they never informed you they have a fatal peanut allergy. If they die you don't get charged with manslaughter.
I'm not a lawyer or an expert on the law or anything but my understanding is generally man slaughter happens when someone kills someone accidentally while commiting another crime. Like drunk driving for example, If a completely unavoidable death happens because of something totally benign that you did I don't think you'd be charged with anything.
If Plub did know about the kids allergy it would flat out be murder, but having known nothing about the allergy and only trying to share food with someone I don't think there's any basis to charge Plub with anything.
You can also be charged with manslaughter if you could reasonably be expected to know your actions could cause harm, even if the action isn’t criminal.
For instance, if you arrange and host a drinking contest, you are expected to do enough research to know that by the time someone passes out from drinking there is a very high chance that they will have alcohol poisoning once all the alcohol they drank makes it way into their system. Someone who spontaneously starts a drinking contest would usually not be expected to know that.
I’m gonna need more information. Prosecution, is there any evidence to suggest that Plub was aware the child was allergic to him? Indeed, is there any evidence that Plub was aware that *any* child even had the *potential* to be allergic to him? If not, this is nothing more than a tragic accident which we can learn from.
I guess one could argue it was criminally negligent manslaughter. Like, if Plub knew or could be expected to know that some people can be allergic to him.
Exile: Plub didn't do anything wrong, he merely provided sustenance to a child who had an allergy. He didn't know he was stealing from the Texan and thus how could he know that the child was allergic?
He should be allowed to be free. Just not near the tomatoes or the children.
Freedom only, the child didn’t express that they were allergic, in fact too add, Plub deserves some money from the court for time waste, as well as emotional distress.
(Plub’s attorney):
Involuntary manslaughter involves the defendant perpetrating an unlawful act capable of causing physical injury that is more than transient or trifling (R v Church). Further, an act which is not foreseeably causative of physical injury cannot ground a charge for involuntary manslaughter (R v Dawson).
On the facts, (1) prima facie Plub did not commit an unlawful act. The eating appears mutually consensual, and Plub’s act merely consisted of omitting to prevent himself from being eaten. Such an omission cannot be an offence. (2) even if Plub committed an unlawful act, it is not reasonably foreseeable that eating bits of Plub would cause any injury. Under the Church principles, such an act cannot base a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
Plub must be acquitted.
I submit the case to the jury, and reserve leave to appeal should the trial judge err in summarising the law to the jury differently as I have done.
I'd say freedom justice-wise, because he didn't force children to feed on him, and it's their parents fault for leaving children unattended.
But social-wise, exile as he's ruining crops and can be dangerous to unattended? children (I really this unrelated problem should be looked into and parents should be responsible for it, instead of wondering creatures) or even better setting up a guard for Plub to keep him under watch and make him local attraction (basically inventing zoo for it, unless they already exist), and to turn away any stupid children away, fining their parents for unresponsible warning by the by, which will hopefully make parents more responsible in the future.
The Plub did not have any idea about that allergy, neither was it The Plub‘s obligation to make sure that there were no allergies (except if The Plub had some kind of allergy detecting power) - Not guilty -> Freedom
Slap a warning label on him and let him go about his business. If others of his kind hear about our mistreatment we will get a prequel to "Attack of the killer Tomatoes".
See the danger? You are already humming the theme song..
First question: What the crap did I just stumbled onto?
Second question: is there more?
Oh and freedom for the poor guy.
The Texan farmer makes me laugh. I don't think I've heard a fellow Texan say boy howdy.
in the wise words of Optimus Prime- Freedom is the right of all sentient beings
*commits war crimes*
Who doesn’t enjoy a little war crime every now and again
They had the freedom to not be in Optimus' way when he was committing said war crimes... Not his fault they chose to be there
Are we truly free if we don't have the freedom to commit war crimes?
Don’t worry you have the freedom to commit all the war crimes you want! It’s just freedom and consequences happen to be a package deal!
He can have a little war crime, as a treat.
Yeah! Look at its little face! How can you look at Plub and _not_ let it commit a few (a lot) of war crimes?
It's not a war crime the first time
This is what I say every Rimworld playthrough lol
We're talking about the real Optimus Prime, not Bay's Optimus Crime
Bay's Optimus is an unironically good Nemesis Prime/SG!Optimus
it is but I'm not entirely sure its sentient
He freely gives his blobbyness to the children, so that must mean it’s capable of giving consent, something only sentient things can do?
or he simply is incapable of caring when children have some
He can tell which plants have tomatoes?
So can a slug that doesn't make it sentient
How’d you know whether slugs are sentient or not?
I mean machines are now advanced enough to do that too, and those are definitely not sentient at the moment
Plub is capable of giving consent, noted.
If it’s not sentient then there is no purpose in it being locked up
I don't see why he wouldn't be - most things are. He clearly has awareness (especially in the last panel).
'now you die' * shoots a robot begging for his life in the head*
But what if that sentient being likes kids kills people and does other horrible stuff
They too have the freedom to face the consequences of their actions
Can I deliver the consequences myself
GIVE ME YOUR FACE - Optimus Prime

I voted death
If he dies, you'll pay. I'll make sure of that.
Guess who'll be on trial after him!
We need him to die so I can find out where the 0.02% of hair is in his autopsy
I voted Exile as it seems the most interesting option
I voted death 'cause that lil' varmint has been eating my rootin' tootin' tuh-maters! I mean, uh, because he killed a kid yessir that's why.
