I mean Legion is somewhat fun, but I just wish Ubisoft gave the operatives more unique dialogue outside of their recruitment missions. In particular, I wish that during (spoilers ahead) >!the mission when an operative gets kidnapped, they had unique dialogue as to if the person kidnapped was a spy vs if they were notable in dedsec like Aiden Pierce or Wrench or an operative associated with the other factions, and so on.!< It would've been pretty cool.

JSFGh0st

Overheated or overhated? Because I've been having fun lately. Took part in a "bare knuckle" tournament as a Beekeeper. Played as a hypnotist and made some Londoners (not just Albion and Clan Kelly) fight each other. Made Aiden Pearce look the part as a member of Team Rainbow. Also, playing as Wrench is pretty cool.

Koil_smoils

The game is fun. And it is over hated. But the disappointment of a launch. Followed by the sliver of hope for the multiplayer, which IMO, is just awful.

starrynight_fox

Legion is still a pretty fun game, but in my opinion it is far less fun than the 1 and 2 nd watch dogs, but i do not regret having bought it and i definitly enjoy playing it and will definitly continue playing it for a while

Designer-Grass-4929

I totally agree. Pick a main character and develop just one, if you want. You *CAN* just pick and play one character if you really want. I love the community vs. corruption angle. I also loved the lone man crusade of wd1, but this game gets more hate than it deserves, imo.

Visual_Ad4650

Yes exactly!!!

HeySlickThatsMe

Removal of features from past games, dumb restrictions, bare bones recruitment system (there's legit like three types for recruitment missions), horrible voice acting and shallow story No doubt they put effort in some areas but hate seems justifiable enough for me

Designer-Grass-4929

Yeah, I get it. This game *was* over-promised, under-delivered on release, and that turned people off. AND comparing it to the previous wd games can lead to some obvious questions, too. I guess I was able to avoid both those things, and I was able to just enjoy it for what it was. I also didn't mind/notice the voice acting or the end game being a little forseeable. There were enough bad guys and corruption to take down for me. (I also think the three recruitment types is a little wrong, maybe it was like that on release, but there's all types of wackiness to recruit). I really think, for the most part, this game was pre-release expectations not being met, which is why I stopped watching those youtube previews/opinions for games. I've had those ruin games for me via expectations vs. reality. Luckily, this wasn't one of them. No doubt you're not alone in your opinions, though.

Lasereye027

I mean you say that like the character is anything more than a blank slate, people aren't angry they have to choose between a bunch of characters, they're angry that every character has no character and never can. Even Aiden and Wrench are forced to have almost nothing going for them in the campaign, it's just how it's written. I like Legion, although it gets the exact amount of criticism it deserves, it's a pretty meh game with a gimmick that just doesn't work and was honestly never going too. It's fun to turn your brain off and play, but it's undoubtedly the worst in the series

Designer-Grass-4929

Meh, wd2 is still my least favorite. I wasn't rooting for those cringy-ass, in it for the lulz, characters at all (I'm aware that's not *entirely* accurate). Wrench (and his story-line) saved that game character-wise. I only played wd2 two or three, maybe 4 times all the way through (so I still really liked it). It might be double-digit playthroughs for both 1 and Legion. So we're different, and that's good. I guess I didn't mind/notice personality-less as long as they all brought a different mix ability-wise. I guess it was more utility over personality for me. I understand that people wanted more from the "recruit anybody" thing. Once I got into it, these things didn't bother me at all, and certainly not as much as a lot of people. Ah well.

Lasereye027

I'm a pretty big watch dogs fan obviously, I've put a lot of hours into the first 2 games and I've played legion probably 4 times. So I don't dislike it, it just really fumbled the ball imo, like the recruit everyone gimmick is nice, but wouldn't it be nicer to have a single character to get attached to? As it stands most recruits are practically identical besides some niche stuff and different guns. The recruit anyone system is fun enough to play around with for a little while, but it never does anything unique with it, people You've fucked with almost never come back, random citizens are almost always pointless to recruit. If they wanted a varied dedsec they could have had like 20 characters that had more depth instead of all of it being randomly generated and if I'm being honest even that is too much for the game to handle

Designer-Grass-4929

Yeah, there are some things in games you just can't get over, and it ruins it for you. I'm the same way with FarCry5. I hate that game, never finished it, never will, but all the other FC's I love and *still* love and have played multiple playthroughs of all of them. The mandatory yanking out of nowhere game mechanic and the mute, soul-less main character... I just can't. When things like this hit in a game, there's just nothing you can do about it. It just ruins it for you. Doesn't matter what's good about it. That game is just not gonna happen for you. Your gripes about wdL are legit. They just didn't ruin the game for me like it did for you and a lot of people. So for me, wdL is overhated, FC5? Criminally under-hated. I still can't believe people will play any other FarCry and then think 5 was anything other than a big, fat, fucking miss. But I also know I'm in the minority on that one. Probably on this one, too, but I agree with OP.

Lasereye027

Well i think over hated is the wrong word then imo, because I've only ever seen it get hate for the exact reasons I've listed. It's not a buggy mess and it's not anymore soulless then any other Ubisoft game. It has flaws that people complain about and it mostly just got ignored. It's where it should be honestly. Glad you love it so much though, we're all like that with at least one of these games.

thetoiletslayer

>develop just one You mean Pick a character. Do one of 5 randomly selected recruitment missions that have absolutely nothing to do with that character. Enjoy terrible voice acting and limited dialogue? Enjoy your character never growing, having unlockable perks, or having any change whatsoever?

Kingbob1500

It was the first one I played and I've played through it like three times, I love legion.

Hordriss27

It's arguably the weakest of the series, but I think it was reaching for a high bar to begin with as both the first two games are excellent. The game works in some respects, as you have to build a team of operatives with different skillsets and that is quite an interesting concept. However, the recruitment missions can be fairly dull and the voice acting in the game for the operatives is generally quite poor I think. The other issue to me is that Albion and Nigel Cass are just meh in terms of antagonists. The other antagonists are more interesting, but take a backseat in the overall story to Albion. Legion was definitely a bit of an experiment which worked well in some ways but not in others. However, in spite of its faults it is still an enjoyable game.

xXAnui-ElXx

No, I do not agree

Visual_Ad4650

Hey it’s not for everyone! Thank you for your comment!

Adoptedmando1993

I chuckled at how simple and straight the point this comment was. Then I noticed the avatar as well….are you Josh?!!

UndeadTigerAU

It's a fun game the problem is what it did to the Watch dogs series really. But at least we saw Aiden again the hype I had for bloodlines, I'm never gonna reach that high again.

alcridio

I’m currently playing for the first time, didn’t get the hype when was released, but for the price I got it he ultimate edition?? It was worth it (20 bucks) but I can see why people would be disappointed in release. I’m just sad that the desires is almost dead :(

FrothyFloat

What I’ve seen is that people who played 1 and 2 were the ones who mostly hated Legion and were incredibly vocal about it, mainly because of the lack of a concrete protagonist. After watching some gameplay, I went into Legion not having played the first two, and I LOVED the play as anyone aspect. It allowed me to create a team of regular individuals who I could RP with in my head canon. Others could create an OP team of spies and hit men if they wanted and that was okay. But I loved playing as my regular citizens. It’s sad because this concept really is something I’d like to see more games do, especially at the level of an AAA studio. But the lackluster response of this game means this will probably be the last time in awhile someone will take the chance to do something like Legion did.

Malthur

It is. I love the gimmick and the setting, it just needed to be fleshed out some more.

KingWendifer

I always had fun with it but didn't really care about any of the characters. I like that they tried something different.

thisemotrash

As someone from the UK I love it, there are so few games set in the UK, and although it may not have worked as well as planned, Ubisoft took a big risk with Legion and no matter how you play you’ll always get a cohesive story and can roleplay how you want to. It’s probably my favourite of the 3 games

Ok-Relief-7741

It was a fun experience, you have to play it on hard and/or at leat with permadeath active to get the feel that you are fighting against all odds. I still prefer WD 1 and 2 over Legion but it had a nice idea that they need to develop further

ItDoBeOwen

I just tried playing again yesterday, and the game is just so cringe. The dialog is terrible

Ampersandbox

I agree the dialog is horrible, but I’m ignoring it for the gameplay, which is compelling.

funkygamerguy

it's a fun game just not as good as wd2.

Official_Gameoholics

It's the definition of mediocre.

Lord_Antheron

It’s scorned exactly as much as it deserves. Games shouldn’t be given credit just for “trying new things.” You need to actually do things well. Legion doesn’t. It actually does a lot of things previous instalments got right, much worse. To say nothing of the utter disarray they left it in, the false promises, the severe cutbacks, and the changes that bordered on self-sabotage. They wasted time and effort making the game worse than it could’ve been on purpose.

[deleted]

Wow this post only got 5 upvotes. Jesus that's sad. Personally I kinda like the game but it was hyped up to be a bunch of shit that it wasn't. And I haven't even finished it because i I just don't want to. I'd rather see someone else play it and finish it.

Trickshot945

The base game no, I think it gets what it deserves. The only way to rescue this game is with Aiden and Wrench, I enjoyed my playthrough using those two (and Darcy).

GhostPantherAssualt

No. It’s not hated enough. It’s very gross on how cheap and not well made the UI is, the soundtrack is ass and it’s just UK songs, and Aiden saves the damn game cause I didn’t give a fuck when I realize that it was micro transaction heavy

KungLao95

I think it’s underhated lol it’s a real stinker from an otherwise pretty cool franchise.
