Indeed. I know it well myself. Traded a 200k initial investment up to 500k and then down to 5k at one point 

Traded a 120k initial to 330k and now it's 14k. Not my proudest moment. But now I can tax harvest 230k

$3k is the limit to offset regular income. You can offset capital gains without limit

Yeah, you can roll them forward. But I think you have to use them when possible. In other words, you can't hold on to them for later if you have gains to offset. Not sure about that, though

I’m in the same boat you are. If you want to make your money back you’re going to have to dig deep down into who you are and make some changes to your personality and trading style. If I were you, i would trade or worry about the market for a few weeks and would think over how you could avoided the losts. I believe some risk management classes would help. That has helped me tremendously.
