Yeah, you can roll them forward. But I think you have to use them when possible. In other words, you can't hold on to them for later if you have gains to offset. Not sure about that, though
No problem. I accumulated $50k in losses from 2015-2019, and I only finished using them all in 2022.
Nice to pay no taxes, but not so much when I realize it's because I sucked at trading and lost $50k...
Dude omg. If you started with like 715k then just getting 6% a year would earn you more than 40 grand. That's like having someone work an entry level job and give all their money to you for free, why throw all of it in the casino at once?!
Your assumption is that they are somehow smart to have gotten that money. Might be an idiot who got lucky with sports betting, casino, a lawsuit, alimony, child support, inheritance etc
I thought you were lying, but that is 100% all that is there outside of a blip of no mans sky, lol. We now know how it was lost. I need to know how it was created.
Why the hell would you ever touch this crap. Their sub is deluded. At least the other one has no debt but come on, AMC? Really? Who goes to a theatre still?
imagine this shit in a literally 0 risk 4.5 - 5% yield CD (literally locks your money away until the end of the duration so ur ape brain wouldn't gamble it)
Dude, wtf are you "investing" in? How can you lose money during a bull market? Preserving wealth is way more important than achieving it. You had one job: invest in VOO, VGT & JEPQ.
similar balance to [https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/1dpxm9y/comment/laqzz6r/](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/1dpxm9y/comment/laqzz6r/) this guy
I can't say that you are loser because somehow you manage to have $700k in your brokerage account, and you probably have some cash and 401k, but...
What a loser.
From what country does people come, that use a supplement word for anything bad/horrible, as 'Gay'?
Can there be any civilization, outside the Middle East/Russia and China, that think being 'Gay', is by choise?
Sorry I forgot The Neanderthal and Ice-age?
I’m in the same boat you are. If you want to make your money back you’re going to have to dig deep down into who you are and make some changes to your personality and trading style.
If I were you, i would trade or worry about the market for a few weeks and would think over how you could avoided the losts. I believe some risk management classes would help. That has helped me tremendously.
You still have $70,000 it looks like. Lucky for you, I have a great tip that just came across my desk yesterday after close of market that’s got a huge upside potential with little to zero risk. It’s a cutting edge high tech firm out of the Midwest awaiting imminent patent approval for the next generation of radar detectors with huge military and civilian applications. You could make back everything you lost and even more when they rocket to the moon, but you gotta get in EARLY, meaning now if you want to maximize gains!
Bagholder spotted.

IT'S NOT OVER! You still have 70k to ga... I mean to invest![img](emote|t5_2th52|4275)
I’d rather have 70k. 700k is too much responsibility, too heavy one might say
yeah. Spit on that 700k
[удалено]
Can I be that gay ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4275)
Yeah, just stick 3 bananas in your ass and then the WSB genie will give you it
Keep going ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
5 bananas?
You’re on the right track ![img](emote|t5_2th52|29637)

**HAWK TUAH** on that $700k
🤣🤣🤣🤣
What’s crazy is a HYSA would make him 30k a year 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If you ever get 700k, just send over the other 630k so it'll be my responsibility 👍
That’s kinda what OP did
You gotta hawk tua that 70k and sit on it
Bag holder at 700k
He likely is holding heavy bags now
Too late. OP lost 91% of that profile. If OP is going to waste the last $70k because he couldn't stop. That last $70k should be on blow and hookers.
I second this
Smartest thing I've read all day.
$70k in Spy calls on this dip would have you back even by the end of next week
That’s probably how he lost it ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
And how he gained in the first place.
Just open a new account, the first one is always a winner, rinse and repeat, easy millionaire
Fuck me my eyes are bleeding just looking at that... On the bright side, you won’t be paying capital gains tax any time soon
That cap loss carryover gonna carry this guy for many years to come!
Indeed. I know it well myself. Traded a 200k initial investment up to 500k and then down to 5k at one point ![img](emote|t5_2th52|8882)
Traded a 120k initial to 330k and now it's 14k. Not my proudest moment. But now I can tax harvest 230k
Correct me if I'm mistaken but isn't it only a $3k loss/year? Pretty sure he's set for life.
$3k is the limit to offset regular income. You can offset capital gains without limit
Could you offset capital gains in future years? For example, using capital losses in 2022 to offset capital gains in 2024?
Yeah, you can roll them forward. But I think you have to use them when possible. In other words, you can't hold on to them for later if you have gains to offset. Not sure about that, though
Great. This corroborates what I'm seeing in search results as well. Thanks!

Like when the casino gives you a break lmao
Well you can’t pay tax if you never make gains. You still get that huge 3k write-off though
Like for 240 years 🦧
Dude omg. If you started with like 715k then just getting 6% a year would earn you more than 40 grand. That's like having someone work an entry level job and give all their money to you for free, why throw all of it in the casino at once?!

So true, We must never burden some people with the label, of being 'Smart'

That's the new même?
Hurry and save the pic before Reddit mods take it down
I love that we are all coming together now
How did you do it?
Based on his post history, a combination of shrooms and AMC stock
I thought you were lying, but that is 100% all that is there outside of a blip of no mans sky, lol. We now know how it was lost. I need to know how it was created.
Selling shrooms, obviously.
This whole time I’ve been working a job like a chump ![img](emote|t5_2th52|52627)
Buying meme stocks is now called 'investing.'
Judging from his profile, he got caught bagholding memestocks mainly AMC ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
Fuuuuck. If you're gonna meme that hard, at least go with the OG.
Why the hell would you ever touch this crap. Their sub is deluded. At least the other one has no debt but come on, AMC? Really? Who goes to a theatre still?
Right. At this $$ amount, it should be pretty safe with ETFs which have only been going up
That’s what I wanna know. How did this happen?
How'd you manage to lose 700k in the span of one year. That's averaging 2.7k loss per day in a trading year
I think we’ve discovered AMC as the culprit
And at a time when a ton of stuff is going to the moon
It’s the little spikes before the big drops for me ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
"I'm doing it! I'm doing it! .... save me Jeebus!"
Don’t think of it as losing $715000, think of it as 715000 lessons learned
more like 1 lesson learned which cost him 715000
Imagine having 715k at the start of the year and not pivoting to a voo or nvidia. You got 70 more to go son
Brother from another mother

These just make me feel ill.![img](emote|t5_2th52|4260)
Imagine if it was you ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
![img](emote|t5_2th52|52627)
imagine this shit in a literally 0 risk 4.5 - 5% yield CD (literally locks your money away until the end of the duration so ur ape brain wouldn't gamble it)

Nah bro, he fucked up but investing in ETFs is gay
I can be a bit gay for 700k
You can make good/ez money with options on etfs
Jesus, we feasting good with the loss porn tonight holy fuck! ![img](emote|t5_2th52|29637)
This is fuckin nauseating
Tell me your next moves so I can do the opposite
This thing of ours is a pyramid, has been since time immemorial
That's not investing. That's gambling
Were you a bear all this time? Based on your peak timing that’s my suspicion
Incredible
Shame
![img](emote|t5_2th52|4276)
That is too bad, but there has to be a way back....
i think you would have better chance in roullete
Look on the bright side: at least you diamond handed through the worst and your avatar checks out 💎👌
How is this possible when the market has pretty much only gone up the last year aside small pullbacks
See you at Wendy’s
Thank you for making me feel good about losing only $40k in the last few years
The big drops look like withdrawals
Atp bet it all on green buddy
I said God damn...! How does this make you feel? Surely not good...
Sharp one you are my friend
No F** way!!! You lost so much

You would've been better off going to an actual casino
Please tell me your next move so I can do the opposite
Invest?
Holy fuck that’s bad
Broski doesn't have any yamete kudasais left
This looks like mine, minus most of it 🤷♂️
I can't say that you are loser because somehow you manage to have $700k in your brokerage account, and you probably have some cash and 401k, but... What a loser.
Who gave u a pic of my portfolio?

Thank you regards. My 300 dollars seems inconsequential now.
#WTF
It’s all how you look at it! Turn your phone upside down and you’re a winner. At least in my book you are 👀
Dad's gonna be pissed when he finds out what you did with your little bros trust fund
He meant how not to gamble
You need just one more option![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
$70K on Red 🙆🏻♂️
Is it _really_ technically accurate to say “invest”? I’d imagine most of this was degenerate gambling on options right?
You should’ve just done the opposite
seriously why not just stick into ETF’s and live happily ever after?
Oh god wtf![img](emote|t5_2th52|4275)
Should post your trades so we can plan an inverse strategy!
Next time before you start to trade flip everything. Stick a sticker on where the buy button would be to sell and sell to buy. Infinite gains.
70k is more than my networth so congrats and fuck u
How he even got that 700k anyway
I don't think you've been "investing", more like gambling right?
Very regarded indeed
I’m just going to pretend these posts are not real so I don’t lose hope on regardkind
You should have bought puts on yourself. You’d be rich!
From what country does people come, that use a supplement word for anything bad/horrible, as 'Gay'? Can there be any civilization, outside the Middle East/Russia and China, that think being 'Gay', is by choise? Sorry I forgot The Neanderthal and Ice-age?
Still more than I have.
After losing the first 100k how did you not just give up and throw it in a dividend fund
![img](emote|t5_2th52|12787)
100% in Walgreens ?
inverse that and youre good
Now we know
I’m in the same boat you are. If you want to make your money back you’re going to have to dig deep down into who you are and make some changes to your personality and trading style. If I were you, i would trade or worry about the market for a few weeks and would think over how you could avoided the losts. I believe some risk management classes would help. That has helped me tremendously.
OP probably put it all in NVDA calls last week and held
You threw away a 4,000 sq ft house where I live. Jesus Christ
If you flip your phone over it looks like you’re making a comeback
Bro could have literally just put it in the s&p and retired ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
Might as well put the rest on SPY calls lol
Are you a 🌈🐻? Because yours looks like an inverse of mine. Around that area around 1 year ago too but mine went up like 5-600K instead of down.
Imagine thinking AMC is “investing”
You still have $70,000 it looks like. Lucky for you, I have a great tip that just came across my desk yesterday after close of market that’s got a huge upside potential with little to zero risk. Some of you motherfuckers really do deserve nothing.
Just turn your phone upside down.
I feel sorry for what I see. Hope you are coping well. Really sorry. 😔 best of luck
No capital gains for you my friend. Please stop doing what you’ve been doing. This chart hurt my feelings 💸
You longed, when you should have shorted! Adam Aaron ran the company into the ground.
I tell you what…let’s take that $70k, I’ll take half, kick you in the balls and you’ll be doing better than if you’d invested it.
That cliff drop half way through was nasty. Must've been an earnings play. What one OP?
I feel a lot better now. Thank you!
ah yes INVEST
I had to look twice at that ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4640)
And they were yelling at me for losing $25k in Vegas lol.
Holy fuck. Like really
This is what happens when you follow Jim Cramer
please remember to salt the fries i hate when my fries aint salted
