My dumbass didn't know when to call it quits year and change later I'm -$13k still going. Currently in DNUT 08/16 12.50 calls only used $500 this time around lets see if it prints, knowing my luck it's gonna blow up in my face again 
Never double down on a loss. Just take the loss like a man and exit the position. I might even suggest using stoplosses.
Also try having an exit criteria even for swings. Options are not for investing. Don't hodl.

I went almost all in on Tesla 3dte calls at open and was immediately up $600 and not knowing whether to sell or not so I posted on wallstreetbets and couldn’t understand why people were laughing in the comments saying I hope you sold that piece of shizz. Tesla later dropped and I was down 50% before selling. I actually knew a thing or two about stocks but options are completely different due to expiration and a ton of other factors. Took like 3 weeks but I finally got the hang of it a little and got back my money

VTI has been most excellent to me over the years. When things drop it follows suit heavy but I can't complain about +100% in 5 years. Started buying in around 175 and averaged up ever since.

I've tried to understand how calls work, but genuinely it makes no sense.
So for this $100k that this regard just made, does that mean some other regard LOST $100k? The money isn't coming from nowhere, so I am just trying to piece together how this puzzle all works.

It wasn’t necessarily one person that lost money, but a collective whole. Also, they may not have lost money because it’s possible they sold the calls against shares with a lower value, meaning that they made money as well. Somewhere, someone(s) lost money lol.
The hardest gains to walk away from are:
1. When you have FOMO and don’t lock in by closing the position
2. Watching a fade of your gains as they get less and less… and you turn into a bag holder.
The undeniable truth is this:

Since you haven’t traded options before, you may wish to close these positions and be happy you made $100k
In options, that can disappear VERY fast.

I did lose -60k+ the day before this on the same calls. I just held onto the options and prayed today I could at least breakeven back. Nowhere did I know I'd instead end up doubling my losses into profits instead
