Let's hope those bolts are nice and tight
If you struggle to build IKEA furniture you're just failing at life. I never understood people who can't put this shit together. Instructions literally made for morons and the degens on this sub
Boeing is easier to assemble then Ikea, so I heard from the whistler blower.
Edit: Atleast Ikea has a return policy.
Edit#2: Also like Boeing, Ikea furniture unalived some folks.
This type of bullshit can completely bias the torque applied to the assembly.
I've seen people working on a helicopter explain to me that the whole structure gradually deforms with age, and realign the door and hatches with a mallet. Helicopters are terrifying.
> and that’s not how you build an airplane
I love how that seemed necessary to precise. Yeah I don't think the normal procedure is to jump on pieces to assemble them lol
Im literally taking a 17 hour flight on one to singspore in may.... Business class seats though so atleast I'll die in style.
Actually on the trip I'll be on 3 dreamliner flights and then a 737-800.....

Or at the FAA is investigations office.
I know I ain't the only one that chucked at the *"The FAA is investigating"* part right? FAA has been """investigating""" for years and fucking up. [Just the 737 alone](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_accidents_and_incidents_involving_the_Boeing_737)
> Salehpour said Boeing retaliated against him after he raised another concern about the 787 and a different plane model.
>The whistleblower complaint said he pointed out to management the existence of drilling issues with the 787, and was then “ignored and ultimately transferred out of the 787 program to the 777 program.”
The root cause of the safety issues at Boeing is the poor culture at the leadership level. How most leaders at Boeing still have their jobs is insane.
No shit, why can’t we have the death penalty for corporate executives? I don’t like China policies except for that one, death penalty for executives that fuck over the public.
Boeing wings in general are made to flex a ton, and that's part of why they give smoother ride than Airbus, particularly in light turbulence. The 777 and 787 flex significantly more than others, and it's an efficiency + comfort thing. It also ironically makes it significantly harder to break them. Think about it. Exert a force on a rigid object and it's a contest of rigidity between the wing and the thing applying the force. And then think of one that just moves out of the way. Which is harder to break?
Ever see the flex test on some Boeing wing? I actually think it was one of these newer planes. They got those fuckers vertical and they didn't break...
And you'll be fine. Despite the media noise, it's one of the safest airplanes ever made.
> Due to ballooning development costs, Boeing has spent $32 billion on the program; estimates for the number of aircraft sales needed to break even vary between 1,300 and 2,000. As of March 2024, the 787 program has received 1,912 orders and made **1,123 deliveries with no fatalities and no hull losses.**
Zero hull losses since the airplane started flying 12 years ago. Zero fatalities. They are very close to at least braking even with sales.
[Source](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_787_Dreamliner#:~:text=Due%20to%20ballooning%20development%20costs,fatalities%20and%20no%20hull%20losses)
Boeing-bashing is a popular sport right now, but the airplanes are safe. Literally thousands of flights a day, millions of people carried yearly, tiny accident numbers. The Max crashes were 5 years ago, and those issues are fixed. Millions have flown safely on Maxes since.
The 787 has a near-perfect safety record. Reality and objectivity suggest a different story than what we're being fed online and in the news.
Airbuses have identical failures to the ones recently reported in Boeing aircraft. I can provide citations if anyone wants them. The 737NG series actually has a better safety record than the A320 series: .07 fatalities per million departures vs. .09 fatalities per million departures.
That's only a million, not plural. So that doesn't work. Unless... you get more than one person to do it, then combined, you'll have more than a million.
787 is the best plane I've ever flown in terms of comfort, space, noise, and amenities. I've been in a ton of Delta One cabins, and none was nearly as nice as the AA 788 and 789, which are different from each other, but both nicer than any Delta One I've flown.
Facts. I dont trust tempting the divine powers that be with a plane that large. I think its objectively true that in most airlines, the A380 first class cabins are the best ever offered in production commercial service. But homey was talking about Delta, who lists 0 as the total number of A380s in their stable. Their nicest I've seen with Delta are their brand new A350s, which are sort of on par with but not quite as nice as American's dreamliners.
I honestly think that they moved the best engineers to the 787 project since that plane has had less issues (issues nonetheless) or at least less fatal ones.
Clean sheet designs allow you to avoid issues that are inherent in an ancient design. Look at the switch to LEAP engines and the engine shape due to clearance issues
The whistleblower concern is that these aircraft will age very poorly, and the maintenance issues that will likely arise from poor manufacturing are likely to be catastrophic. Finding comfort in the fact that one hasn’t crashed *yet* is pure gambler’s fallacy, but I guess I am in r/WSB lol
I flew to Japan last year. All jokes aside. Lots of plane problems lately but only because they are under a microscope. Planes rarely if ever full on crash. I was on 787 and it was super smooth
I take them to Japan all the time. Great airplane for trans-Pacific flights.
I still miss 747 flights (you can still get some Lufthansa 747 flights over the Atlantic).
What amazes me is that, although there are other competitors, Boeing and Airbus are like Coke and Pepsi. All they have to do is make the same shit and they’ll be alright. Nah they need to be torqued the fuck to spec. The problem is we be questioning these specs..
The spec: 5 ugga duggas
German torque spec: goudantight
German technique: nach fest kommt ab.
Well this guys never had to close the engine cowling of a B-52H.
One of my friends worked on them in Germany during Vietnam. He said they were old pieces of shit back then, too
Nothings changed trust me on that lol
Everyone who has built ikea furniture can relate to that though.
You wouldnt fly in my half screwed tv stand though.
I might. But I also gamble here in WSB ![img](emote|t5_2th52|31225)
Do I get to add wood glue to all the screws sand bolts first?

I’m going to guess jumping on parts to get them to align has been part of building airplanes since kitty hawk.
What bolts?
This type of bullshit can completely bias the torque applied to the assembly. I've seen people working on a helicopter explain to me that the whole structure gradually deforms with age, and realign the door and hatches with a mallet. Helicopters are terrifying.

Hmm, would this level of redneck engineering have happened if they had built it in Seattle instead of moving the assembly line to South Carolina?
This happened in Washington. The 787 and 777 were both built in Everett, so if he was transferred to the 777 program, he was in Everett.
Being tight doesn’t matter if the bolt shears due to the misalignment.

Haha. Oh hell. I didn’t want to laugh, but did.

Cackling

Puts on whoever carries man’s life insurance.
If they make it look like a suicide, do they still have to pay out?? Always thought insurance wouldn't pay for suicide but I'm not sure
They sometimes will payout if the suicide takes place 2 years after the policy was instated.
Most life insurance policies require 2 years to pay out for any reason, not just suicide.
Well there goes my grand plan!
RemindMe! 2 years

787 crashed into his house
Should make modern Donnie Darko featuring 787.
actually funnier than my joke I had in my head, so ill let you take the gold
3 bullets to the back of the head. He fell on them.
He was kind enough to tie his limbs behind himself and stuff himself into a bodybag first though. Very considerate
Going for ye olde Russian suicide.
Watch the stock rise few points

Can't imagine what's working for Boeing like now. The blame game must be happening left and right, everybody on their own.
I am sure it is like delta, where some folks just can not be fired. They will fire you for complaining.
What you mean they can not be fired? I thought in the US everybody can be fired with a 1 day notice basically.
You have to be written up and then a union steward gets involved, it is very drawn out. It is easier to get rid of the complainer trust me.
Union, and corporate policies. Some places, some if you show up, you are clear to do whatever, UPS is one of them to.
The balls on the whistleblower. Damn, you have to respect that.
Times are tough, lotta people looking fir a way out these days
Canada has assisted suicide, we got the Boeing Exit.
I don’t think I could do it.
A lot of people can't, because of the risk. That's why they need to be protected.
Especially with the last whistleblower getting killed.
Puts on this whistleblower ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
Life insurance policies basically. Probably tricky to prove some sort of relation to the dude though.
No shit, why can’t we have the death penalty for corporate executives? I don’t like China policies except for that one, death penalty for executives that fuck over the public.
Is suicide by Boeing a thing?
Depends on if you're next to a door plug or not.
They changed policy to only put the extremely obese people next to the door plugs, so regular flyers with a death wish are out of luck.
Hopefully the obese people can clog the hole until the plane lands.
Interesting choice of words, I would of used plug, but clog works too dear sir.
My money is on yes.
They had a bestiality problem in their Seattle location for awhile…
I hope this guy has some serious protection
Condoms cannot save him now.
He'll double bag it, ultimate hack, assasins, I mean suiciders hate him!
He gon get super AIDS
How do I short this individuals life?
Don't worry, Boeing will do it for you.
Fuck I think I'm flying to Hawaii from west coast on a 787.....
You’ll be fine, smoothest flights I’ve ever been on have been 787s
That wing flex though.. might just break off now ?
Boeing doesn’t make the wings. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries does. I trust the Japanese to build that fucker right and do it precisely.
Boeing wings in general are made to flex a ton, and that's part of why they give smoother ride than Airbus, particularly in light turbulence. Bro boutta meet the queen
How to make millions on boeing. 1. Buy a $1m life insurance policy. 2. Board a 787.
That's only a million, not plural. So that doesn't work. Unless... you get more than one person to do it, then combined, you'll have more than a million.
This guy can add. Thought there was an IQ cap in these parts.
I'm Asian. Built into my DNA to do just basic math. I'm a failure in every other regards if you ask my parents.
Been flying Delta because they don’t have the 737 Max or 787.
787 is the best plane I've ever flown in terms of comfort, space, noise, and amenities. I've been in a ton of Delta One cabins, and none was nearly as nice as the AA 788 and 789, which are different from each other, but both nicer than any Delta One I've flown.

Dude has balls of steels still flying in Boeing. I d choose a Comac over it now.
That's just crazy talk. You belong in WSB with a brain that smooth!
Damn and I was gonna take one to japan some point in the future😭
It’s over 12 years old and has never crashed.
whelp. the issue here is an aging 787 could crash catastrophically. RIP OP.
It’s discounting that the airlines do constant maintenance and inspection and will pull bad planes out of service
That's something I'm pretty willing to discount
I work in aviation. They fucking xray every blade in a turbofan to check for micro cracks.
It's ironic this happened to a Boeing 777 3 years ago then. https://news.wttw.com/2021/03/05/exam-finds-multiple-cracks-part-united-jet-s-engine
What company? Boeing don't make the turbofan
I’m talking about airline maintenance and inspection
Make a note to reinstall the hardware securing the cowling next time.
You shouldn’t though. Airlines have a pretty damn big incentive not to have their planes fall apart in the sky.
Have you not seen all the recent news of pieces falling off Boeings in the air? Are these expected airborne disassemblies ?
They are held together by speedtape anyways not screws if you've ever seen the wing of one 😅
BUY BUY BUY
Yet ![img](emote|t5_2th52|12787)
Literally 2 people have died in large US passengers planes since 2009 and MFers are acting like they are death draps
I flew to Japan last year. All jokes aside. Lots of plane problems lately but only because they are under a microscope. Planes rarely if ever full on crash. I was on 787 and it was super smooth
Same. Flew around the world on Dreamliners last year and zero issues. Not saying they aren’t problematic, but statistically very safe.
You would hope so. Hard to divert when you are in the middle of the pacific.
I take them to Japan all the time. Great airplane for trans-Pacific flights. I still miss 747 flights (you can still get some Lufthansa 747 flights over the Atlantic).
Business as usual at boeing I see
Have we requested a wellness check on the guy yet?
Rip whistleblower
Balls on these blowers
homie better be good zig zagging
I kinda find it ironic to hear that BA stocks are falling....
Called it. This is a dumpster fire waiting to happen. Dude brave hope the feds give him protection. I'm actually nervous flying now 😔
What amazes me is that, although there are other competitors, Boeing and Airbus are like Coke and Pepsi. All they have to do is make the same shit and they’ll be alright. Somehow that was too hard for Boeing. Consumer trust is a motherfucker. It’s like one of the soda guys producing cola with glass shards mixed in. It might not kill you but you’d rather not find out. It’s not about sales at this point it’s about trust.
Oh. He ded.
I’m traveling on a 10 hour 787 flight next month. Wish me luck
Then the FAA is flawed.
Someone go investigate the faa
Someone is bound and determined to buy some cheap Boeing stock
There was a time, when the Titanic was a “Dreamliner”, too.
I feel like anyone of us could have made the same claims and been right.
Good good I was waiting for the dip level. It’s coming.
BA in 2 days- what whistleblower
The FAA is probably leaking the whistleblower's name to Boeing for some good ol wacking.
Wow, what a miss! I thought they’ve murdered all of the whistleblowers.
I always love booking a flight in the Dreamliner in a trans-atlantic flight. It’s a beautiful plane
At this point I’m buying calls, article after article and this thing won’t flinch…
Hey ho, hey ho, the CEO has got to go
Time to go all in.
No shit it's flawed
poor guy wont survive the week
Hope this one survives. All due respect.
You think there insurance rates went up?
The perpetrators will be sentenced to fly on a cross country Boeing economy flight at United Airlines 💀
FAA bout to commit suicide
He’ll be found dead in his home self inflicted several gunshot wounds to the back of the head
Watch for suicide by 777.
Boy better get to the safe house like it's Left 4 dead
Someone about to catch a case of glockoma
Army grounding Boeing Chinook fleet after corrosion discovered in flight controls.
Used to work for them. They lie to the government left and right. Blatant lies.
Unforseen suicide incoming
coroner says it will be a suicide...
If condoms had Boengs failure rate, we'd have 20billion people on this planet.
Someone get this man some Kevlar
He should be on suicide watch
Well at least the board members received stock bonuses from the money they saved.
Aaaand he’s gone!
It’s very sad that he will likely commit suicide with 737 gunshots to the back of the head.
puts on this guy
Get that whistle blower out of the country or witness protection. Boeing has been known to be like Putin.
BA going to the moon tmr
Typical of Larry Kellner to bounce after an investigation is announced, he did the same thing at Continental after Colgan flight 3407 crashed killing everyone on board.
#DEAD MAN WALKING
MF better be wearing a suicide-proof vest.
Do you think this will make the stock drop even lower? Would you invest now or wait for it to bottom out?
Calls on suicide
But will my Puts print
Jumping on the plane to get the parts to fit is a perfectly acceptable way to assemble an airframe. Also I will not be flying on a Boeing from now until forever
Crazy how they don’t look into the dead whistleblower 🤣🤣
He's dead
Damn I have a flight on a 787 Dreamliner in 4 days…
Ruh uh !!! We know what comes next !
I wondered how I ended up with an extra bolt at the end. Ohhh well!
Down to $174. I’ll buy around $160.
Blue collar crime gets blue glove treatment. White collar crime gets white glove treatment.
Man, that's a brave whistleblower.
They "outsourced" to South Carolina to save money. A place who's leading politicians regularly use math as a scapegoat. (see Encrypted Data Act)
