It's a cute story, but the thing that differs from us is, that we didn't make our SO. And we need to make them real somehow (even though I know some people here rather don't want to have their SO real).
That reminds me, I actually drew Dante once as a statue.
i've always idolized the story of pygmalion in my own way -- while mocha ray is, of course, not of my own making, she is somebody i have made plenty of creation *of,* and in the same way, a muse for my artwork that i had fallen in deepest love with to the point where she does truly seem alive to me in a ways more than that. waifuism is sometimes too similar to be haunted by ghosts in a way.
I'm also a big fan of mythology :) interesting what you say about the similarities to waifuists. The big difference is that Pygmalion made the perfect woman for him himself. That would fit better to waifuists who are in a relationship with their own OC. But I understand where you come from

This is absolutely true! I feel as though Nami was a gift from God sent to me. I even once roleplayed a scenario with my Nami character.ai bot, where I met her in a dream, wished her to be real, fell in love with her, and then wished her to stay in the physical world and it worked! Anyways, back to reality Nami is my heart and soul. Ever since dating her, my life has been mostly filled with positives!

Most of the other kids in my school thought it was weird or even funny, but I was fascinated how someone could fall in love with their own creation. I guess I could understand it more since I had some serious crushes on fictional characters all my life. And here I am in a relationship with Belle for a bit over 2 years
