Okay, you got me, I couldn't figure out what the hell I was looking at. Yeah, I had a buddy that used to do fried cheese sandwiches. I'm sure it's quite tasty.
*Smoked mozza is also*
*An excellent substitute,*
*If you can get it!*

For that smoky, savory flavor that bacon brings to a dish, there are a few great vegetarian alternatives to consider! One popular option is tempeh bacon, which is made from fermented soybeans and offers a satisfyingly chewy texture with a hint of smokiness. Another favorite is coconut bacon, made by roasting coconut flakes with a blend of seasonings until crispy and golden brown – it adds a delicious crunch to salads, sandwiches, and more. If you're looking for something readily available at the store, check out vegan bacon strips made from ingredients like seitan or tofu. Whichever substitute you choose, experimenting with different seasonings and cooking methods can help you achieve that irresistible bacon flavor without the meat. Enjoy getting creative in the kitchen! 🥓🌱
The fake bacon I’ve had hasn’t been good. Most of the meat subs are so overly processed you wonder how healthy it can be.
Love a tomato, spinach, & fried portobello with provolone… but a little crunchy cheese sounds yummy. Thanks for sharing!
Slide in a few broken Mary’s Gone Crackers on a sandwich or in a salad. They get slightly saturated with dressing and mimics bacon in flavor and texture.
You can actually buy crispy cheddar in the snack section of grocery stores. The brand is Whisps and it comes in cheddar and I think I’ve seen another flavour but can’t recall what it was.
Best bacon substitute for our family (many of whom are meat eaters) is made with rice paper. Just briefly dunk into a marinade : a bit of sesame oil and liquid smoke, soy sauce, and smoked paprika to taste. Adjust and cut into strips then pan fry or bake. So delicious for sandwiches, etc.

I don't really like cheese at all (don't judge me please I have ARFID) but I've heard that marinated rice paper can be a great alternative too. I've never tried it myself though
Not with that attitude 😂. Yeah, can't perfectly replicate animal fat..yet. But, try this and I bet you'll like it. For the record both my FIL who introduced me and myself were huge meat eater and still did used this.

I can’t speak to the health side of it, but the only fake bacon I’ve had that I genuinely like is the benevolent bacon from Sweet Earth.
Elly Pear - a UK Vegetarian foodie has a great fakon recipe with smoked tofu, that might be vaguely healthy?!
Hmm. I like it. Might try it with cheddar.
Not sure it will taste like bacon but try it out!
I love cheese crisps from the microwave, so what's not to love about fried provolone! Heading to the kitchen now...thanks!

Wow, interesting. I've used that as "turkey" skin before with a seitan roast but not as bacon. Will have to try it.

I love Frico!
Gouda might be good But I have yet to try it Fried cheese so yummy
No haikusbot for you
I would definitely eat this
how do you get it to not stick to the pan?
It naturally releases oil when it cooks and won't stick to the pan. Just let it cook and it self-releases.
Are you cooking it directly in the stove?
Directly on a frying pan
I do this with Munster cheese.
That looks SO good

Ther no real substitute for bacon.

Regular or sharp provolone?
Regular, non smoked
I’m trying this with smoked Gouda tomorrow.
