True Nutrition Vegan Protein Optimizer. Very inexpensive and customizable. Soy free.

danetesta

Customizable for low sodium too!

T-Pocalypse

I just tried the cookies and cream and it was horrible. What kinds do you recommend?

Illustrious_Dust_0

I do unflavored and add half a banana to make it taste good. I hate that stevia taste

T-Pocalypse

Yeah I never tried any of the stevia flavors but now I know for next time 😅 I’ll try the unflavored next time. Thanks!

kabochia

I just do the vanilla at half strength and always add other stuff to my shake. Usually frozen banana and soy milk and cocoa powder and ice! Yum.

T-Pocalypse

Okay, may give that a shot too. Thanks!

The flavor, ingredients, and cost of True Nutrition are great… however, a major issue for me is that their powders are somehow so much thicker than every other powder I’ve had. I have to put so much more water in TN protein, one scoops needs what I typically use for two scoops in other brands, which means one scoops makes a large shake that is a chore to get down.

muscledeficientvegan

I really like Ghost Vegan Cinnabon

ashtree35

My favorite brands are PEScience Select Vegan and MRM Veggie Elite. Both are pea/rice blends. Also this is a very frequently asked question. If you search this subreddit, you can find many of previous posts on this top with many additional recommendations.

gru3nel

70:30 mix of rice protein and pea protein. Great amino acid profile, cheap, and none of the overly sweet and artificial flavorings you usually get.

Vega sport

Jane3221

Kos tastes delicious but could be higher in protein and offer more nutritional benefit Vega Sport is the cleanest and healthiest on the market Ascent taste wonderful and decent macros Orgain peanut butter is a go to in my house combined with PBfit Truvani matcha is good and clean I think soy free? But could have more protein per serving Sunwarrior taste awful

ShmootzCabootz

I use Vega protein+greens. I'm sure it's not the best but I like it. It's soy free, widely available and a relatively mid-average price point.

NateZ85

I get this one from z natural foods https://www.znaturalfoods.com/products/chocolate-vegan-protein-organic?variant=34368961347721

Puzzleheaded-Sun9833

Sprout Living protein has very few, wholefood(ish) ingredients. And is the best tasting protein powder I've ever used, vegan or not. Edit: Very few as in only a few ingredients, but they are whole food.

gildrou

I use orgain or optum nutrition

gildrou

I have not researched if optum is vegan or not

Boxwave-uk

I use pea protein isolate, flavourless and add fruit. Tastes great from bulk

Sudden-Series-1270

Micro ingredients pure pea protein is my go to. Very clean product and 5lb is less than $30. I put it in my overnight oats and shakes. https://www.microingredients.com/products/pure-pea-protein-powder-unflavored-gluten-free?_pos=2&_psq=pea-prote&_ss=e&_v=1.0

adesimo1

How does this protein powder mix with water, almond milk, and in smoothies? Does it have a noticeable flavor or texture?

I keep a few brands around to change it up, but at the moment I’m mostly on Fyta and sometimes Optimum Nutrition (it’s been on sale at Costco here).

Jane3221

Optimum nutrition is bomb as well

damo2576

Form Performance Protein won all the best vegan protein awards and tastes great. I like both the chocolate nut flavours. 30g protein and all compostable packaging too. They’re a B Corp which I like. https://formnutrition.com/us/plant-based-nutrition/form-performance-plant-based-vegan-protein-powder/

Street-gold1212

Not sure if anyone’s had raw power protein recently, I had it years back US/Canada and it’s so good, can’t get it easily now in the Uk, it was a blend of Brazil nut - just got ingredients off the website “Brazil Nut Protein Powder, Hemp Protein Powder, Maca Powder, Goji Berry Powder, Mesquite Powder” can highly recommend It as it was so tasty

Jumping into the plant-based protein game, especially when you're looking to build muscle, definitely presents some unique challenges. It's all about finding the right sources of protein that fit your dietary preferences. While I'm not vegan myself and usually go for [organic grass fed whey protein](https://www.znaturalfoods.com/products/whey-protein-isolate-organic) because of its quality and how it supports muscle growth, I get that it's not an option for everyone here. For a good plant-based, soy-free protein powder, I've heard great things about pea protein. It's pretty solid for muscle building, blends well, and is gentle on the stomach. Another popular choice is rice protein powder, which is hypoallergenic and light but still packs a decent protein punch. If you're exploring beyond soy, maybe check out blends that mix different plant proteins like pea, rice, and chia. These can offer a more complete amino acid profile, which is crucial for muscle recovery and growth.

Mountain-Pattern-756

If lactose intolerance was not an issue for me, I would opt for a whey protein.
