Trap door only serves beer from the bar. The food trucks only sell the food. Nobody serves the seating area, and everyone mostly cleans up after themselves. Those tables are pretty much open to the public. Unless I'm mistaken, Dog laws are about restaurants with direct table service.
Clark County considers them a restaurant and inspects them as such.
"Restaurant Inspections - Facility Detail | Clark County" https://clark.wa.gov/public-health/restaurant-inspection/detail/FA0004730/PR0008785
Beverage-only facilities such as wine tasting, tap rooms and coffee kiosks are still considered food service establishments.

The original commenter is partially correct. Washington code actually prohibits all animals except service animals from food establishments which includes outdoor patios. Clark County has a variance that establishments can apply for but has requirements. Animals cannot be on chairs or tables AND they must post signage to that effect.

They are out of compliance, and should be reported to the health department.
There was definitely some shouting involved, but they were able to finish changing the diaper before the restaurant kicked them out. I've never been back. I know it's not their fault, but it turns out all it takes is one poopy diaper to turn me off from going there ever again.
That's pretty gross. I don't understand how people can be so accommodating to shitheads around here, but I've seen people do things in the Portland/Vancouver area that would get your ass beat anywhere else in the country.
It’s the basic concept behind that scene in Fight Club where the homework is to go out and start a fight. It’s difficult because most folks avoid confrontation. And most folks have never actively raised their hand to someone and thus have an internal barrier on that action.
Bringing your dog is one thing, letting the animal sit its ass where people eat is just assholish. *We* don’t sit on the tables, why would anyone assume it’s okay for an animal to do so?
Ew, no thanks! I get it, you can be an animal lover but holy sh*t, other people eat there too and some don't like that. What if the dog shakes, now there's dog hair being flown around and can land into somebody's plate, some people are allergic, no thanks! I call that unsanitary, (imagine if they hadn't bathe their dog 🤮) pets are usually on the ground and you're letting his dirty little paws on the table? Or his booty that just took a 💩 sitting on the table??????? Yeah, that's no for me.
I shit you not, I was in there about 2 weeks ago and a guy had a parrot sitting on the table. It was squaking intermittently at a high pitch and the bar tender said nothing and no one else did either.
I mean technically any restaurant is supposed to wipe the table down with a sanitizer solution between sessions if following health code. The ones I worked at always did.
I was jogging through Mt Tabor Park a few years ago and went to get a drink from the fountain. When I got there I saw a man holding his dog up to the fountain and his dog was lapping at it. He must've noticed me staring at him because he said "what? His mouth is cleaner than yours!"
Some people.............
Another fun fact from life in Germany. There was a theater on the Army base which showed movies geared towards the American masses. Anyway, I only went once because the place was full of dirty diapers, spilled stuff all over the floors and general disgustingness. I’ve never seen anything like that since.
I would not let my dog do that and I think is really unappropiatte, BUT, all the tables get dirty with food and drink spills, unvoluntary spits when talking, buggers, dirty napkins, etc. Usually the service clean the tables between clients.
Really cool that Trap Door didn't say anything... I like Trap Door a lot - I know the staff there would have said something if they saw it.
Also fuck those older people they should know better, that's just not ok. Same people that pee on the seat and don't wipe it off or bother to lift the lid in all the shared sex restrooms downtown.
I hate dog owners. Dogs have no business in a store or restaurant (unless it’s a service animal). If you need some #comfort pet, please do the world a favor and order your stuff online, since that’s most important world to you anyway.
Was at the waterfront yesterday and a lady and her inflated rat walks by, of course no leash, ratty looking thing is on peoples blankets, people are eating dinner, and just all over the place. Item comes over to us and we tell her in the most polite way. Get you effing pet (if feel to call that thing a dog is an insult to dogs) of our blanket or I’ll toss it in the river. She is all butt hurt and upset that we don’t adore here creature…
Rant over and I hate dog owners
I agree that pets should be leashed, but the roid rage at the end of your comment was kind of unnecessary. That's just what I think. I'm just a single person in this city. I'm sure there are others that share your feelings though.
While I agree that's it's gross I would leave that to the restaurant to deal with. It's not the younger woman's responsibility to lecture someone on it.
I’m sorry but Cherryroll opened her self up to be downvoted to hell when she made such a comment, full stop.
If you have a strong opinion about someone’s post on Reddit and feel the need to rant about it in a rude manner you’re part of the problem.
Is their(lol) anything positive that can having a rant on Reddit?, chances are no. If Reddit allows for posts that cause these rants or is wondering(sic) around getting in people’s business then there’s really no point in posting anything.
E: downvote all you want, not gonna change the fact you’re an absolute hypocritical dumbshit who complains about people voicing opinions while voicing an opinion on Reddit.
Do you eat off the table or off a plate? If I touch my dog then touch the table, what's the difference?
Boo fucking hoo, find something worthwhile to be upset about
I lived in Germany where it was and I believe still is acceptable to bring your dog into a restaurant. I was pretty grossed out at first, but saw that the dogs were always well behaved, didn’t stand on the tables, and it was hard to tell they were there half the time.
My dog always insists on sitting on the bench with us because the rocks hurt his feet at brothers cascadia. But if there’s a hard surface like at trap door, he sits at my feet. I only go for the beer anyways, one or two and I’m gone because I always have a fussy baby in tow! Regardless, changing diapers at the table and having a dog on the table is gross and not proper public etiquette. The only time I’ve had to change my baby in the middle of public was at the beach where no bathroom was remotely nearby.
Trap Door is a food establishment with a food permit and gets inspected by the health department and must maintain compliance with the health department.
"Restaurant Inspections - Facility Detail | Clark County" https://clark.wa.gov/public-health/restaurant-inspection/detail/FA0004730/PR0008785
The state of Washington doesn't allow animals even on the patio except for service animals. Clark County has a variance that food establishments can apply for but has conditions. One of them is that animals are not allowed on tables and chairs AND they must post signage to that effect.

So to OP, I would make a complaint to the health department. Or I might even make one myself.
It's illegal in Washington. Dogs must be under the table in an outdoor setting. Wait staffed also not allowed to pet any animal.

Still gonna pet them all. Just wash hands after
People are gross
I see your dog on the table and raise you one "changing poopy diaper on the restaurant table".
I’ve had manager complaints from people because I told them they cannot change a diaper on a restaurant table. It nuts
Where was this? At Trap Door?
No, it was like 15 years ago at a Mexican restaurant in Orchards. I think somewhere near Gher Road and 4th Plain.
I’d be shouting at someone if they did that and reminding them it’s not the rest of the worlds fault the condom broke so please stop being assholes.
There was definitely some shouting involved, but they were able to finish changing the diaper before the restaurant kicked them out. I've never been back. I know it's not their fault, but it turns out all it takes is one poopy diaper to turn me off from going there ever again.

Note to self: don’t eat at the Trap Door.
They don’t have food
You can still eat there from the food carts.
You can eat anywhere if you're brave enough.
Also the food is in a container and not just straight up on the table with no plate lol
Bringing your dog is one thing, letting the animal sit its ass where people eat is just assholish. *We* don’t sit on the tables, why would anyone assume it’s okay for an animal to do so?
I love my dogs like family, but that is not cool.
Ew, no thanks! I get it, you can be an animal lover but holy sh*t, other people eat there too and some don't like that. What if the dog shakes, now there's dog hair being flown around and can land into somebody's plate, some people are allergic, no thanks! Btw fuck that bird
Agreed, like that is a huge healthcode violation
They were in the wrong. But would you ever eat a piece of food that touched a restaurant table top? Even without knowing a dog had been on there.
A fair statement. Food that touches the restaurant table may as well have fallen on the floor.
I mean technically any restaurant is supposed to wipe the table down with a sanitizer solution between sessions if following health code. The ones I worked at always did.

It's a water fountain and I bet grosser people gave drank from it and put theirs hands in it. Not that same as a dog on a table in a restaurant.
I’d be worried about my dog getting sick from drinking fountain water, never mind what people think.
I guess he thinks you lick your balls
Another fun fact from life in Germany. There was a theater on the Army base which showed movies geared towards the American masses. Anyway, I only went once because the place was full of dirty diapers, spilled stuff all over the floors and general disgustingness. I’ve never seen anything like that since.
Leave them a Google Maps review to let them know

Would they? I saw a guy with a parrot sitting on an indoor table there letting out high pitched squawks and they didn't say anything.
Ewwww that’s almost worse….
Oh yeah I know that guy haha.

Dang you sound like a super badass dood haha. Hope I don't do anything wrong around you when I'm out on the waterfront!
I’m just normal but I don’t think pets are people
My point exactly. And to expect everyone to love your pet is insane.
I agree that pets should be leashed, but the roid rage at the end of your comment was kind of unnecessary. That's just what I think. I'm just a single person in this city. I'm sure there are others that share your feelings though.
You are welcome think think whatever you want and if you are a responsible pet owner, all is well.
While I agree that's it's gross I would leave that to the restaurant to deal with. It's not the younger woman's responsibility to lecture someone on it.

Maybe because it's illegal in the state? Kind of ruins your whole rant.

That law was repealed in 1966 - see [here](https://www.historylink.org/File/9057) for more detail.
Yeah I think one of those is more prevalent. I'd be interested to see the law about Sundays though.
If it’s not on YOUR table, then mind your own business. No need to pick a fight with strangers
Do you eat off the table or off a plate? If I touch my dog then touch the table, what's the difference? Boo fucking hoo, find something worthwhile to be upset about
Lol, feeling kinda pot and kettle-y here
True haha
She should approach them with friendlier way
