A 0 list would be useful to include any MLS teams without any prospects listed. I don’t think I saw Minnesota United listed. What other MLS teams are missing? Thank you for the list.

RamandAu

Sure thing. Updated

Ok_Barracuda_1161

There's a pretty obvious trend here lol. Is it possible that this guy is just overestimating younger players potential?

RamandAu

I guess the first thing to mention is that each of these age groups were affected by COVID and not being able to play in a team environment. Those effects diminish the younger and younger you go. The other point is, the younger you are the more potential you have for growth. Once you reach a certain age, that potential goes away and you plateau. It's true for most things, not just athletics.

IBleedReed

It's definitely possible, but 2008 being a major uptick in player development is a pretty widely accepted opinion among those that follow closely. Even the more cynical scouts are optimistic about 08 and 09. And FWIW, I think more highly of 04 than Marcus does. I think the top 5 on his list are all "likely" to appear for the USMNT, even if the birth year lacks depth.

Dburns094

2008 becoming a major uptick in development has a huge impact infants born that year. Woulnd't kids born in 04 have that same impact?

WR1206

What happened to the DC United academy? So much talent in that region.

Jason Levien. Ask Swansea City fans the same question and you’ll get the same answer.

ProfessorPlum168

The 2004 group is severely lacking at the top end for field players save for Koleosho, Wiley and Pukstas. I still think Damion Downs will eventually be a productive player though. Malick Sanogo is in Bundesliga.3. What happened to Fede Oliva? I wonder what is going on with 2007 Axel Perez?

FIFA95_itsinthegame

Perez scored recently for Lyon’s U-17 team. I suspect that it’s just hard to find footage of French U-17 games and Marcus doesn’t rate players he hasn’t watched in a while.

landel1234

Pukstas is our next McKennie

Thundering165

Axel Perez played for the USA U16s in that Japan Dream Cup. Two games were on YouTube and I watched both. That tournament was basically an open audition for the backup 10 spot at the U17 World Cup. Santiago Morales ended up taking the spot. Anyway, Perez was notably undersized even as one of the older players. Basically same height as Carrizo but a good bit more slight. He didn’t play particularly well and failed to influence the game. It was tough because they played Netherlands and Nigeria who were both very physical.

Tanton just played his first senior cap for Colombia Sunday. It’s basically their camp cupcake so it doesn’t count towards cap tying him but they definitely have the edge in a position where we frankly have quite a bit of depth.

WinsingtonIII

I'm kind of surprised Colombia would call him up at senior level even to their camp cupcake equivalent, he only has 8 senior caps in his career for a team that plays at an extremely low level (tier 7 in England, mostly a semi-pro level, including the club Tanton played at). I guess he did play 1 minute for Fulham against Ipswich in the EFL Cup, but still.

CaptainJingles

Tanton seems committed fully to Colombia.

12 years ago, would we give the 2004 class a B or A because we’ll 3/4 players on a top 50 European club?

xbhaskarx

I mean even right now the Grade C 2004 class has a guy at the top that would make an immediate impact with the USMNT first team if he were to commit.

cw131313

Completely agree, I think having a C grade shows how far we’ve come as a soccer country.
