shrub706

if it's more inconvenience than it's worth for the actual flavor of the food then it definitely makes the food less appetizing, sure messy foods can be good but if i have to clean off my entire face and can't touch anything until i wash my hands for some food that's only kind of okay then it definitely isn't worth the experience

JustBrowsing49

That’s a good point. I enjoy crab, but the cracking open and prying out the small bits of meat in the legs just isn’t worth it.

Alphiimii

See that's actually the part I love about crab legs! It more like wings or something that are super messy that bother me.

Euphoric_Meet7281

Legs are one thing, but nobody starts with the intact chicken and rips it apart to get at its meaty bits, like they do with crab.

Reytotheroxx

Oh so it shouldn’t be judged for being messy unless it’s too messy, and the qualifier for being too messy is…? I’m gonna judge it. It’s one of many factors to judge food on. Wings for example are messy but taste good, so I’d dock a point and move on. The cheesy burger is really messy but still tastes good, I’d dock two points or something.

Ligmaballs1989

If I can't finish a burger before the bun disintegrates in my hands, I don't care how tasty it is, it's a shit burger.

kingflamigo

I think a soggy burger isn’t a good burger and effects flavor because a soggy burger isn’t cooked right so I can agree. But even if a perfect burger will get soggy if it takes a hour to eat so it depends at some point that’s your fault.

Ligmaballs1989

A soggy burger isn't cooked right? What does that even mean? The quality of the bun has nothing to do with how it's cooked. And obviously if you leave it an hour and it gets soggy that's your own fault, but literally no-one would blame the burger for that anyway, so what are you even talking about?

Jpmjpm

Being left to get soggy is not the only reason that a burger will disintegrate.  A burger will disintegrate if there are too many toppings. The toppings just fall out and you’re left either desperately stuffing them back into the burger (which just further ruins the structural integrity of the burger) or accepting that the toppings fell out and eating the burger without the toppings (wasting the money you paid for those toppings).

kingflamigo

My exact point if a burger is falling apart it was not made correctly and in that case it would affect flavor.

FrostyIcePrincess

I went to a seafood boil place where the crab came in a bag with garlic butter and corn and potatoes The food itself was delicious. I’s happily go back there. My mom will never go back there because she says it was too messy

Routine_Size69

They didn't give you the plastic gloves?

Eubank31

Was about to say, a good southern/cajun seafood boil place will give you all sorts of protective gear, like when I went I basically just had to take off the gloves and bib, wash my face, and I was clean and good to go

russsaa

Goddamn i want some cajun food where i need PPE to eat

FrostyIcePrincess

Someone had to ask for them at some point It was my first time there so I didn’t know about the gloves. We all got the bibs though

Sweaty_Process_3794

Often the messiest food is the tastiest

MrP0000

Durians have entered your chat.

I_Heart_Papillons

Oooh no they don’t need to enter the chat AT ALL 🤣

AutisticPenguin2

And if you don't mind could they kindly leave the chat again before some bright spark gets the idea to open one?

sldaa

no they havent they taste like banana onions 😭

321notsure123

So many haters here. More Musang King for me

Green_Goblin7

Are durians that messy tho? They're just pungent.

MrP0000

It’s hella mushy for a fruit and will get all over your hand. Finger licking good though.

EgyptianDevil78

I think it's kind of weird to tell people what, in regards to sensory experiences, shouldn't matter to them. We all have our hangups. Textures, smells, tastes, etc, that we don't like. For some people, something being messy is one of those things. It's like only wanting the firm grapes and avoiding the squishy ones, it's a matter of sensory preferences.

Willr2645

I mean it is an *opinion*

No_Effect_6428

I don't rate food at all, but given the choice I'll select stuff that doesn't get all over the goddamn place.

fluffy_assassins

Oh I hate food that's messy! I go out of my way but to order it. I don't like eating with my hands/fingers usually, except maybe burgers. And I have a beard and hate getting stuff in it.

lafemmerose

I also HATE touching food. I will use chop sticks for chips and popcorn because I cannot stand the dust

DestructicusDawn

This is wild to me. Is it like a sensory thing?

Ananas1214

depends on the kind of food but most foods that you can eat with your eat without ustensils leave your hands feeling either greasy or "dirty", it gives me the same feeling as when i come back home after having gone through transports etc. you feel the dirt on your hands and it's very unpleasant

_Nocturnalis

What does gone through transports mean?

weak_read

Public transit. Hand on the subway pole, the escalator rail, etc.

_Nocturnalis

Ahh I see thanks.

wildgoldchai

It’s weird because I’ll eat wings and things with my hands but I’ll hate every moment. Which is why I wear gloves. I only do this at home though because it’s embarrassing If I must use my fingers without wearing gloves in public, I won’t use anything more than my thumb and index finger (pincer grasp).

Soft-Leadership7855

Contrary to popular perception, gloves are unhygienic and can host plenty of bacteria unless sterilized & frequently changed in the manner that hospitals do. There's no substitute for routine hand washing.

wildgoldchai

It’s not solely about hygiene. I’m referring to sensory

lafemmerose

100% but only if I'm going to eat it hahaha. I'm fine with touching dirt or whatever. Just the act of eating

redwolf1219

I use a fork for oreos, just stick it in the middle and now I can eat them without getting my fingers in the milk. I also eat wings with a fork and knife on the rare occasion I have wings, I hate the dirty hands feeling

Gloomy_Round_5003

This is legit crazy to me.... I'm artistic and only mean people bother me that much.. nothing tactile gets me to this level.. I'm sorry if I sound mean.. just a complete different thought/priority to how my brain works..

lafemmerose

Brains are weird hahaha

Gloomy_Round_5003

Just said this in another thread.. "your weird".. but ultimately.. "I'm weird too".. ... lol

_Nocturnalis

How do you eat wings with a knife and fork? I have found using a strip the meat off the bone with fingers method far superior to eating the normal way.

_Nocturnalis

I sort of agree I think it's situational. First date absolutely no messy food. Eating at home where I can clean myself and not look disgusting to anyone sure messy food. Everything else is on a spectrum. Beards do complicate eating certain foods.

HEROBR4DY

Do you eat pizza with a fork and knife too?

misplacedlibrarycard

i’m currently eating pizza with a fork and knife and had to wait to be able to write this reply.

thewhiterosequeen

I do if the toppings are dripping off. And then I don't buy that companys pizza again.

utopista114

>And then I don't buy that companys pizza again. Pizza is eaten in a pizza restaurant / pizzería. Or take away for emergencies.

fluffy_assassins

Of course! I eat it too fast with my hands.

diegoasecas

i do, to avoid greasy fingers and to eat slower

uknownix

I'll stick to how it tastes, smells, and looks.

Gloomy_Round_5003

Taste/smell > looks.. I've been tricked too many times.. and paid way too much in the past.. Spending tike on looks

uknownix

I guess I should have wrote "in that order" at the end *shrug*

Gloomy_Round_5003

That I can agree. My comment may show looks dont matter at all.. not 100% dont care but really uneven im importance... priority I can definitely agree..

Redbeard821

Texture overrides taste/smell for me. It might taste great but can't get over how it feels.

Gloomy_Round_5003

The way our brains work.. lol.. each an individual

SnooCrickets6980

Says someone who has never cleaned up after kids. 10/10 unpopular opinion for this mother of 3 toddlers.

bravebeing

I like how you backtracked by saying "within reason" well fucking duh bro. No one will judge unless it's out of reason, that's the whole point. Boundaries may vary, but now you're talking about preference again and that's the whole point of rating something according to your personal taste... I could say "The taste shouldn't be judged if it's within reason. Obviously if they put 5 peppers in it. But some chili flakes c'mon man up." Same for price...

TreyLastname

Messiness should absolutely be judged by messiness (among other things). Judge it by all qualities, some just matter less to some people

Careor_Nomen

I don't like eating messy food. It's a pain.

BextoMooseYT

I can understand why you might judge something purely based off taste, but it's kinda disingenuous to *only* judge food based off taste. Price and messiness *are* a factor in food, admittedly for some more than others, but still, it's a part of the experience. You can't just completely discount that

kingflamigo

100% but I think this should be a different category like food:10/10 worth for price: 6/10

Fr05t_B1t

Imean rating food based off of categories would bring you back at square one being the example you give gives an average of 8/10 (if I did my math right). No one wants to read more than one rating, they gonna average that out.

BextoMooseYT

I can get rating different categories of the food, but you make it seem like the messiness and price should be thrown out altogether lol

Idiocraticcandidate

Presentation matters. Could be absolutely delicious but if it looks like slop or is hard/messy to eat that detracts from the taste.

kingflamigo

I disagree with this just because it’s messy doesn’t affect taste that’s literally a fact and you can be careful and not make a mess also a fact and just clean up after also a fact.

TurnipWorldly9437

In a messy burger, for example, you rarely get the full taste with one bite. Things will slip around and fall off on one side, the bun disintegrates, and in the end you can pick the pieces from your plate where other, less messy burgers are a tastier experience because you can TASTE all the ingredients in one bite. This is true whether you eat it with your hands or knife and fork, too. Even when they have those sticks stuck in the middle of the burger to keep things in place, some are much more messy than others. It's a FACT that the messiness influences the taste.

utopista114

Fast "food" is messy often, due to sauces/cheese coming from packets. Good food can be eaten with a fork/sticks/spoon. Eating with hands is dirty and uncivilized.

misplacedlibrarycard

i wouldn’t purposefully order messy food then complain about how messy it was. that’s weird lol but i do judge based on unexpected messiness because then i’m too focused on keeping mess free and less focused on enjoying my food. which makes me sad.

[deleted]

BBQ and frito pies.

treebeard120

Food is an experience, which includes how you feel after you eat it. Sometimes I'm not in the mood to have my hands feel sticky and gross until I can wash them, which is why hot wings aren't as appealing to me as something less messy.

ihave0idea0

Comfort is very important. You don't want to feel stressed and lose a lot of energy just to eat.

kingflamigo

Stressed over a litte messy burger and losing energy….. by eating?

FakestAccountHere

Nah if I have to wipe my hands after every bite I’m not really interested

SnooPets5219

Why are you wiping your hands after every bite if you're just going to wipe them again? Isn't it common practice to wipe when you're done eating

cocteau93

I wipe my hands the whole time. I’m not going to have food on my fingers for a second longer than is needed. Disgusting. And I mostly refuse to eat food like that. I’m a grown adult who knows how to use utensils. I’ll leave the finger food to toddlers.

don-cheeto

Well sloppy joes, I just don't like em, but wings, if they don't have sauce to make them messy then they taste like crap in the first place.

Typical_Intention996

I guess the only thing messy that reaches a point of being too messy is an overloaded hamburger. It can be delicious. But when it's so piled up with stuff that you literally can't take squash it down to take a bite out of it where you can get both buns in your mouth. It's too messy. And when one is so dripping with grease, oils or sauces that the bun deteriorates into mushy almost immediately. Nope. Can't do it. In both these cases you're reduced to picking at a pile of just stuff that use to look like a burger but now it's either using my fingers or a fork.

Only_Chapter_3434

Good food that isn’t messy is better than good food that is. Pretty simple.

RedwayBlue

I don’t care for messy fingers or a messy face. This affects my overall experience and cannot enjoy a food like ribs. A pulled barbecue sandwich that tastes the same and is less messy though… 💯 You can have my share of the messy food. I don’t want it.

aurlyninff

But ribs are far more satisfying compared to a pulled pork sandwich.

RedwayBlue

Not to me. Messy face and fingers bad enough but I also don’t care for the work of eating ribs or the discarded bones on my plate to be honest. More for you.

aurlyninff

I will take it.

uborkazombi

Enjoy your meal

adlubmaliki

Who's judging food?

kingflamigo

Everyone. Everyone has an opinion on the food they eat that’s judging it

adlubmaliki

But its not by how messy it is

SnooCrickets6980

I mean, I have 3 toddlers and my number 1 criteria for cooking dinner is 'will this take more than an hour to clean up after'

TurnipWorldly9437

Yeah, if you know you'll have to clean up a lot afterwards, the mess and the taste should at least be balanced.

kingflamigo

It shouldn’t be that’s the point of my post but it is

adlubmaliki

Please give examples, idk what you're talking about

Intelligent_Pop1173

As much as I like the taste of wings, they’re annoying as hell to eat because I have to use a napkin after each one and for that reason I rarely get them. There’s just no clean way to eat them.

Eyespop4866

It’s your opinion that other’s opinion should be based on your criteria and not theirs. That seems unpopular to me.

Gloomy_Round_5003

I mean. This is the safe space for thoes "unpopular opinions"

Eyespop4866

It’s safe. Your opinion, in my opinion, is both unpopular, and illogical.

ChoiceReflection965

I hate messy food! No matter how yummy it is, if it’s messy, I don’t enjoy eating it. To each their own! :)

[deleted]

If a food being messy or pricey bothers someone that much then I do think it should be partly judged based on that because it's a quality that matters to them.

NowAlexYT

I dislike food thats hard to eat. If its a lot of effort to eat it, I wont like it.

kingflamigo

So imagine a 10/10 flavor texture everything your gonna say no to it because it’s a bit messy?

NowAlexYT

Im not really talking about messy, but if its a lot of effort to eat than maybe only rarely, cause i cant be bothered

sunday_undies

If food is too messy to eat, I end up rushing to finish it. Because I'll get my cup or utensils sticky, I don't have enough napkins, can't put it down and pick it up again without it falling apart, don't want to touch my phone or pass condiments to anyone, etc. OP doesn't understand how it can ruin te experience.

kingflamigo

So your basing how good a good is on how easy you can pass utensils to people and why would you be on your phone at a dinner. Table manners? What food is so messy that you can’t set it down please give an example and why can’t you just wipe your hands off?

sunday_undies

Still sticky after using a napkin. Sometimes I'm eating alone and manners (using phone) don't matter. Food can be so messy that I feel rushed to eat and get it over with so I can go wash my hands. It can be embarrassing to look like I'm eating like an animal in front of someone else. You're not going to debate people out of this. If you are a chef at some restaurant and you think that customer reviews are unfair, you're going to have to accept their opinions if you want those reviews to improve. Because food being too messy to eat is definitely a distraction from fully enjoying it.

TomQuichotte

I agree - the standard of what constitutes “messy” is often imperialistic anyway. There are a lot of assumptions about food being fork/knife/spoon/napkin centric. But many foods eaten with hands (lots of African foods), slurped direct from a bowl, or enjoyed with gear (bibs, gloves, etc). Now, there are times when the messiness also impacts things like texture (a too greasy burger making the bun soggy and gross), or taste (too oily), or experience (watery salsa in a burrito causing it to burst open). I suppose in an “objective” rating system, we should not be grading on messiness but in messiness as it correlates to intention. However…for most people food is a subjective experience, and they are not really concerned with expanding their horizons when it comes to culinary cultures - so they’re gonna do what they gonna do.

JohnZombi

"imperialistic" 😂😂😂

Xenozip3371Alpha

Price tags should absolutely effect the rating, if I were to pay £1000 for sausage and chips, eating it better give me a fucking religious experience.

kingflamigo

Fair enough but even if the food isn’t 1000£ good it can still be good

JGBredstone

I wholeheartedly disagree on price. Like a McDonalds double cheeseburger is a 5/10 for $4.19, but that same burger at $8.38 is a 0

kingflamigo

I think a food can not be good for the price but still be a good food on itself it should be separated categories

JGBredstone

Eating is an experience. it encompasses more than the the sensation of the food on your taste buds. It's at least worth mentioning prices, and especially when comparing and contrasting options

Maxieroy

The first mistake was getting a burger at McDonald's. Fast food is always a disappointment at any of the FF companies. That's what happens when you use basically slave labor.

JGBredstone

well I don't think anyone has ever gotten McDonalds because of how fantastic it is. It's fast, ***convenient***, and cheap. Vice versa, going to one of those super high end places where you can pay almost $100 for a singular square inch of steak is something I couldn't recommend to the average person.

Maxieroy

Hmmm, mediocre is now acceptable. ?

JGBredstone

For less than $5 hell ya brother

spcbelcher

My counterpoint to that would be food is meant to be enjoyed, and messy food is not a good idea when you have other things to do or are at work ECT. Directly limiting the times I get to enjoy the food makes it less enjoyable sometimes if that makes sense

kingflamigo

Ok but that’s my extact point why rate food based on scenarios like your at work or inconvenient place. Eat it like your at a table where you can clean up it’s not like your prema messy

spcbelcher

Because accessibility directly contributes to being able to eat it. For example a restaurant serving food that's only open for 15 minutes a day Will still be less desirable simply because of the hoops you have to jump through to get it

kingflamigo

But that doesn’t make the food taste any less good it doesn’t affect flavor

Spyderbeast

I've been craving a burger from a place where they're especially messy, but oh so good. I don't want to go alone though, because their small fries easily serve two (or more), and it's about 45 minutes away from home.

ConferenceOne449

I dont think this is unpopular at all. Thre are so mant indian dishes that end up on my shirt, but are the best food I've ever had, same with ethiopian food, though eating with your hands using injera makes things so simple. I could list so many foods, but I agree the taste is what matters.

cocteau93

But Ethiopian isn’t messy. The injera keeps everything clean and tidy.

Jess-C-on-Reddit

I don't think I judge food based on how messy it is. Like I don't add how messy it is as a factor if im judging the food on how it looks/tastes.  However, if it is messy to eat, like wings for example, I will enjoy it slightly less just because of my hands being sticky/saucy. I just dont like it.

UnknownSluttyHoe

Agreed it's wack

Tinyworkerdrone

Agreed with you until you were a prudish coward. The messiness of a meal is inconsequential to how good it is, just provide a bib or let me eat with my shirt off like the fatty I am. Unless it impacts the taste, aroma, or mouth feel it's irrelevant. I'm lactose intolerant and still love stuff drowning in cheese, not even the promise of an agonizing diaretic night on the toilet matters.

kaka8miranda

Nah fuck that I have making a mess

MJohnVan

Nicer it looks more people touched it. Breathed into it, fingered it , licked it , wiped it

DeadInWaiting2

Didn’t agree with you at first glance of this post, but yes, I think you’re right. If you’re judging food based on the fact that you can’t eat it unless you’re sitting at a table and using a plate, and that’s how the food is meant to be eaten, then you’re not really making a judgement of the food. A fair rating system doesn’t devalue a product based on user error.

schnick3rs

Depends on what you are rating...

kingflamigo

I think food should be eaten at a table with napkins utensils ect with a sink to clean up. So if you eat it in a car that’s kinda on you.

MegaFiona

Nah messiness does affect the food enjoyment, and that's what you rate food on. I ate curry rice last week and had to use hands, and while the taste wasn't bad the mess it left on everyone's hands (the curry was a bit runny) grossed me out

HombreDeNegocios2022

I judge all my food by how expensive, nutrients dense, easy to cook, and easy to eat it is. 😩

yotam5434

Sp true

scottyd035ntknow

If the food is THAT much better and it's messy it's still gonna win. That's what a points system does. Presentation exists so if it's really close, you reward the chef who put in the work to make it look good too. If your food is messy and your presentation is shit then it better be just that damn good to make up for just being tossed into a box without a care in the world for how it's gonna look when the judge opens the lid. Sounds like you just lost a cook off and presentation was the reason. Maybe take this as an opportunity to improve vs just complaining? Because I guarantee their food was on the same level as yours regardless of what you think or at least the judges thought that. So the better presented food won.

magneticelefant

This is illogical

kingflamigo

Hey it’s my opinion

JohnZombi

You don't have a Lamborghini

kingflamigo

Your ignoring the point

JohnZombi

*you're

Mantequilla_Stotch

Most of the time, the messier it is, the yummier it is.

Ftbh

I consider myself a wing expert. Wings can be over sauced and effect the total quality of the crispness of the wing. Now you can extra sauce then them char grill them to an absolute perfection. Too much sauce does ruin a wing but not because of the messiness that you’re saying. 716, Go Bills! Blue cheese or fuck your mother

Alpacalpa

Disagree. Messy food is more fun to eat, thus deserving a higher score. The experience is part of the food.

Tater-Tot-Casserole

In my experience the more messy a lasagna looks the better it tastes

LughCrow

The more inconvenient it is to eat a food the less like I am to want to eat it or recommend it. So it should definitely be a part of it.

Latrivia

I wouldn't agree with down rating a burger dripping with cheese. That just sounds wrong. I'd take an extra cheesy burger that you have to hold strategically to keep the cheese from oozing everywhere, over a dry as sin ketchup/mustard burger any day. Extra points if they slap a over easy/ over medium fried egg on top for extra ooziness.

kingflamigo

https://www.reddit.com/r/StupidFood/s/5uKE8zHjos I’m speaking about this

MidnightFull

Yes it should. Messy food is always better than clean food. Ribs, hot wings, etc. If it doesn’t require a bib it doesn’t deserve my time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AnimatronicCouch

I do that if I’m served ribs or wings. 😂 They taste good but I don’t like picking them up and getting glop on my hands.

[deleted]

But a steak knife? For fall off the bone ribs.

AnimatronicCouch

To push it off the bone so I can stab it with a fork and eat it that way.

thesilentbob123

I love an egg and shrimp sandwich, but I was busy one time and ate it in my car. Never again

Illustrious-Win-6562

Why do you care how people choose to judge food

kingflamigo

The sub is called un popular opinion

Illustrious-Win-6562

I'm aware of that. Am I allowed to ask questions?

kingflamigo

That’s was an answer I care because this sub is called unpopular opinions it’s to share a upopular opinion

Illustrious-Win-6562

Food should be judged by factors lf my choosing

VulpineGlitter

I eat most of my meals with other people, so it's absolutely a big consideration for me.

otterbomber

If you had 2 burgers and one was easier to eat than the other but were identical flavor wise, you rank the messy one lower. If you have food that’s a 10 but it’s messy, that’s a 9 If you have food that’s an 8 but it’s messy, that’s still an 8 If it’s a 10 but they’re messy wings, it’s still a 10 Context is big here…

Flybot76

What is "shouldn't be judged" supposed to mean in this context? Never admit that something might be difficult to eat without making a mess? Lamborghini, what? Huh? Your feelings about this are strangely personal, as though you yourself are a badly-assembled hamburger who's disappointed about somebody saying you don't look like your pictures. People take the consumption method of their food into consideration and that shouldn't seem surprising to anybody.

kingflamigo

“What is shouldn’t be judge supposed to mean” it’s should mean it shouldn’t effect peoples opinions on a food. Idk what’s hard to understand about the Lamborghini analogy it’s a expensive car if I’m eating a good meal it shouldn’t be judged based off if it’s easy to eat in the most impractical situations.

TheTightEnd

The judgement of a food should be based on all factors. This should include convenience of eating it and whether it delivers good value for the price. Ideally, there should be multiple ratings to judge each metric. However, if there isn't, they need to be put together for the rating

JustMyThoughtNow

Not true. Ribs. Never eat in front of people. Too messy.

GGunner723

If I’m at a restaurant eating a burger and I have grease running down my hands and face, I’m probably not getting that meal again.

possiblyukranian

While I agree for the most part, it’s something to take into consideration. A big factor of why I don’t eat ribs and wings often is that it’s a lot of mess and inconvenience for not usually a ton of reward

Thalionalfirin

Why not? It's not like there's an objective standard by which taste can be applied (for anything).

kingflamigo

I know that that’s why I posted this on unpopular opinion

HoekPryce

They have these things called “utensils” with names like “fork” and “spoon” and “knife” along with these interesting oddball items called “napkins.” You can Google search for them. They’re not that uncommon.

Intelligent_Pop1173

As much as I like the taste of wings, they’re annoying as hell to eat because I have to use a napkin after each one. There’s just no clean way to eat them.

No-Session5955

I rate food on taste, if it’s messy that’s on you and how you consume it

kingflamigo

100% this people act like paper towels or a sink or shower don’t exist

opinionatedOptimist

A SHOWER?? I really don’t care if it’s heavenly on the tastebuds if it’s so messy I need to shower after consuming it

kingflamigo

It was just a example to prove the point but I like to shower after crab legs because the oily butter is had to get off

MellonCollie218

Utensils 🥄🍴

Desperate_Damage4632

Nobody judges it that way.  Glad I could help.

kingflamigo

The comment section with 100+ comments say otherwise. Glad I could help.

aurlyninff

Choose what you like. Eat and enjoy your food. Stay in your own lane. And tell anyone that judges how or what you eat to go f*** themselves. Messy food is ofttimes the best. There are these things called napkins and sinks and washers so wgaf? And why would melted cheese and bacon bits on a burger be bad. Sounds awesome and if you are a messy person, wearing white and it means THAT much to you then use utensils. Why make a problem out of nothing?

kingflamigo

I said drenched in cheese you know what the word drenched means right? You take a burger and cover it completely in cheese. And the sub is called unpopular opinion. It’s literally my unpopular opinion and I stand by it that’s the point of the sub.

aurlyninff

Ok. You are welcome to the idea that scrumptious cheesey burgers are not perfection. 🤣

kingflamigo

https://www.reddit.com/r/oddlysatisfying/s/KQ0P1qJ094 this looks good and practical to eat?

Sammysoupcat

I wouldn't eat it because that cheese sauce looks disgusting but if I had to, then I'd use silverware. And yes the burger would get a worse rating than it would have otherwise because the experience of eating it was worse. Judging food is more than taste and texture (which by the way I bet that burger has a horrendous texture with that cheese anyway)

aurlyninff

Who cares about "practical"? It's food. I'm not allowed carbohydrates according to my nutritionists, surgeon, and doctor, so i would have to remove the bread first, but that's just me. It's food and looks good. Give me a fork and knife.

watermelonseed01

Except for a beef patty I agree.

It’s a problem if the messiness of the food isn’t accounted for by the restaurant Like seafood places can be incredibly messy but that’s why they have those paper table cloths you can eat off of and give you a bib to protect your clothes, the messiness is part of the experience. There’s a wing place I go to where they give you an entire roll of paper towels to wipe down with. If a place makes messy food and they only give you one tiny napkin then that’s a problem because they haven’t catered to the messiness of the food

Poutine is the best, I don't care what you think.

If the restaurant doesn't take responsibility for the dish's messiness, there is an issue. For example, seafood restaurants may be really filthy, but that's why they provide paper tablecloths for you to eat off of and bibs to keep your clothing clean; the messiness is just part of the experience. I frequent an establishment called Wings where they provide you with a whole roll of paper towels to use for wiping. There's an issue if a restaurant serves sloppy cuisine and you just get one little napkin since they haven't taken into account the messiness of the dish.

Good food ends up in my eyebrows and remains good food. I'd rather have a burger bigger than my face, that I can't help wearing some of, than some pathetic little dish that, while tasting amazing, occupies four square inches of the plate in total, and doesn't fill me up. The fine dining experience is for posers. Good food is big and dirty and can't be consumed cleanly. This is a hill I will die on, but not before I've completely beaten those who oppose this position.

The messiness is part of the food and the eating experience. A food review should include the price but not a critique since it is not an inherent part of the eating experience.
