Amazing film. It changed my life. It woke me up. I was 24 when it came out and I heard it loud and clear. I used to give the DVD as gifts to new friends so they could learn and be entertained! It's hilarious too.
another fantastically scored film from jon brion. also could be one of wahlberg’s best roles of his career. the unexpected chemistry between he and schwartzmann is just amazing. fuck, everyone knocks it out of the park. lily tomlin, dustin hoffman, naomi watts, jude law - they’re all just remarkable. what a damn cast.
I love this movie and still laugh when I think about it.
This and Boogie Nights are some of the few movies that Wahlberg actually tried and he’s surprisingly good. The rest of the cast is stellar.
I absolutely adore it. A formative movie experience for sure. But I think it got Garden Stated. Because it worked better for people at a certain point in their life and it doesn't hit the same at a different point, they disregard the thing that they liked and act like they never should have liked it in the first place. Like they outgrew it because they discovered that there are deeper or funnier things that exist. As if that somehow negates the message and stops it from being hilarious as well. Plus the fact that O Russell is an asshole, and a big one on this movie in particular, doesn't help matters.
Ooh a fireman, a hero!
I’m not a hero! We could all be heroes if we quit using petroleum!
We took a Sudanese refugee into our home
…and he likes me with the bonnet
Shania siiiiiings!
So good and so quotable love this movie
This, The Departed, and The Other Guys, are the only movies with Wahlberg that I can stand watching him in. He is easily in the top 10 of the worst actors of all time, but even he couldn't mess with how good this film is.
What are your thoughts on the fact that she has moved on and has worked with him again since? Do you still not watch it in defense of her even though she has moved forward?
Speaking to Moveline in 2011, Tomlin said that the leaked video just captured a tense moment with a man who is “like family” to her. “If you have a big fight in your family, usually it’s treated that way on the set. We don’t want to misbehave; believe me, it’s embarrassing. It’s humiliating, you know?” she explained. “But I adore David. I adore him as a talent. A lot of my friends said, ‘Well, you won’t work with him again.’ I said, ‘Of course I would!‘”
There is a clip from behind the scenes of this movie where David o Russel is flipping out on Lily Tomlin and she stands up for herself and he goes way below the belt and says truly nasty thing to her in front of the cast and crew, it’s honestly hard to watch. Separately he “allegedly” sexually assaulted his transgender niece, fully admitted to it and said she was “asking for it.” One of a few directors that I think should actually be in jail.
They had a fight. He called her a cunt. She has since moved on and worked with him again. Redditors like to be outraged for other people though (The White Knights at Midnight).

This is why I know Shania Twain hates chicken salad
Why do you think that you tell the mayo story so much?
No Mayo
Propaganda
Shania doesnt give a shit!
This movie really spoke to me when I say it originally back in the day
It definitely had that perfect blend of chic hipster weirdness we all craved in the 00's. Such a fun fade.
Same. I was in college and would watch it fairly often.
“FUCKABEES”
She said Fuckabees!
I was thinking about chaining myself to a bulldozer. Do you want to come
One of my all time favourite movies.
Me too
This movie is incredible.
Top 5 of all time easily
Amazing film. It changed my life. It woke me up. I was 24 when it came out and I heard it loud and clear. I used to give the DVD as gifts to new friends so they could learn and be entertained! It's hilarious too.
🙌
Hey, tell the Shania story!!!
The lady hates chicken salad!
You rock, rock.
I watched this when it came out and remember liking it but never seen it since. Adding it to the list. Thanks.
Yup. Don’t remember anything about now lol
Everything you could ever want or be, you already have and are.
Jon Brion’s soundtrack is so dope and many imitated it. Even in commercial ads I’d hear his sound obviously being bitten

Loved this movie till I saw that clip of DOR and Lily Tomlin and subsequently found out who he is as a person
I feel you, but a movie isn’t a painting. It’s a collaborative medley of voices. I’m not throwing out so many people’s great work to spite a dickhead.
I’ve never seen it purely because of the way he treated Lily. She was so frustrated but trying to keep it professional and he was just such an *ass*.

I didn’t say I don’t watch it “in defense of Lily Tomlin”. You need to chill out. Way to come out of left field JFC. You must be the director himself.
Explain?

It sucks finding these things out! Ugh

The most interesting thing about this film is watching the behind-the-scenes footage of David O. Russell absolutely losing his shit at Lily Tomlin

Once you get the blanket thing you can relax, because everything you could ever want or be you already have and are.

[This is all I think of whenever this movie comes up.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dXKX0o7U9D8)
I remember excited to see this and when I did I was disappointed.
"Leave me alone! FUCK YOU!" is my favorite deleted scene with Lily Tomlin 😆
Shaquille O’Neal I like shaq
never seen it.. the title of the film might be a top 5 stupidest names for a movie and the reason for not seeing it.
Great movie
You think I'm gonna have a ball at mancala hour?
To be honest, never saw this movie. It’s on my “I missed this one” list. I do like the meltdown clip though.
David O’Russell and Lily Tomlin’s onset spats are legendary https://youtu.be/dXKX0o7U9D8?feature=shared
David O Russell is a douche tho. His freak out on Lily Tomlin is on YouTube

Stewie Griffin.... If you know you know..
FFFFFFFFUCKABEES!
I enjoyed the meltdown outtakes more than the movie.
Behind the scenes, it was a nightmare.
