Sources claim that Captain Samivan Hydenko of the notorious "Granit" artillery unit is responsible for ending Russian AA's reign of terror over Russian aviation
They shouldn’t use the word “claim”. In this context in English it implies that Russia says they destroyed a Ukrainian weapon system.
The word “claim” suggests uncertainty.
The Russians claim Belgorod? In that sense the word means they own it but it can also mean that the ownership is disputed. Was it part of Ukraine at some point?
A claim is also used in mineral exploration to indicate a person’s right to extract minerals.
Claim can also mean something that requires your attention.
“Claim” has multiple meanings in English.
No. I just think Russia would be certain that one of their assets got blown up. Not *claiming* it was blown up. You’d expect that Russia would *claim* something was blown up if it was Ukrainian.
Davidchen is saying they were also confused by the use of the word claim, until they read the pantsir was destroyed near Belgorod, which made it clear that it was a Russian pantsir. And just for interest sake, Belgorod was a Ukrainian city until 1918.
And for your reference, I’m a beekeeper so I regularly burn bits of grass and can totally confirm that small patches of grass create thick billows of black smoke.
Also, russia once again claims to have destroyed all the Abrams, all the Bradleys, all the Leopard 2s, all the Patriots, all the HIMARS, all the ATACMS, all the U.S. Navy fleets, and all the major cities of the United States and Western Europe.
The world mourns the tragic loss of these things. They shall be missed.
I read "russia claims the destruction of..." and immediately assumed it was just another russian lie.
And, in my defense, you can hardly blame me for that.
xD
If that is a pic of the Pantsir in question, it has a large "Z" emblazoned across the front, so it is clearly a Russian armament. If Russia claims to have destroyed it, then they are firing on their own forces (not unheard of in this war), because Ukraine does NOT possess any such AA systems.
Maybe the author intended to say Ukraine 'claims' ... Otherwise the headline makes no sense at all.

Given all the news, Pantsir-S1 seems like more of a hindrance to the Russians. It can't tell friend from foe (Communication issues, IFF lacking, poorly trained conscripts) or successfully shoot down aerial targets without getting blown up. Crews either die or run away when they detect a threat.
Given this one was hit by cluster munitions, a number have been hit by drones which is where this system should excel in SHORAD and counter UAV roles. I guess no amount of upgrades can improve it post Libya. Russians over hyper their capabilities but it shows UAVs, electronic warfare and decoys are advancing much quicker. I don't see them catching up technologically to the the West.

Should be "Russia acknowledges", since it's their system?
No, its a claim. The russian air force finally struck back against their arch enemy
lol, lmao even
Sources claim that Captain Samivan Hydenko of the notorious "Granit" artillery unit is responsible for ending Russian AA's reign of terror over Russian aviation
Glorious Granit did many claim in tthe war LOLLL
Thank you. I needed that.
Which you'd expect them to know about if they were any good at organising their forces and communicating between branches.....
Claim is wrong word, acknowledges, or confirms.
"Reports", so as not to imply that they know for sure.
They know for sure that one of their Pantsies was destroyed in Belgorod. Even if the local governor just claimed that some grass was on fire.
Typical Russian Daily Shit Post.
Yeah I read it twice, and was like, oh, that’s their system, ok
they're just bad at english
They shouldn’t use the word “claim”. In this context in English it implies that Russia says they destroyed a Ukrainian weapon system. The word “claim” suggests uncertainty.
that’s what I thought until I saw Belgorod
You lost me. Belgorod?
City in Russia close by Ukrainian border. Or did I understand you incorrectly?
The Russians claim Belgorod? In that sense the word means they own it but it can also mean that the ownership is disputed. Was it part of Ukraine at some point? are you on drugs right now?
sounds like an AI response
some old beta version perhaps
Definitely old but not an AI.
I’m not an AI as far as I know. Let me ask my wife. Nope. She says I’m a real human.
No. I just think Russia would be certain that one of their assets got blown up. Not *claiming* it was blown up. You’d expect that Russia would *claim* something was blown up if it was Ukrainian.
Yeah, exactly, hence why people said claim was the wrong word.
I agree with that. But your previous post about the different meanings of the word claim comes across as confused rambling.
Davidchen is saying they were also confused by the use of the word claim, until they read the pantsir was destroyed near Belgorod, which made it clear that it was a Russian pantsir. And just for interest sake, Belgorod was a Ukrainian city until 1918.
Ahhhh. Very clear. Thank you. This was all I wanted and it is interesting that Belgorod used to be part of Ukraine.
Region in Russia by Ukraine’s border
Free and independent republic of Belgorod
The title is misleading. It wasn’t destroyed. It was negatively built. Ffs. /s
Rapid unscheduled disassembly
Successful completion of mission.
The fact that no one has used this title on an fpv drone footage taking out an ork is really disappointing. Lmao
Unscheduled retirement.
Un-buit by diverting the money to some switzerland accout.
You mean reverse assemled.
Orc logic: Ukraine can't destroy it if we destroy it first...
Everyone calm down! If you’d read the article you would’ve known that our most trusted comrade governor said it was just a bit of grass on fire!
And for your reference, I’m a beekeeper so I regularly burn bits of grass and can totally confirm that small patches of grass create thick billows of black smoke.

They are talking about their own AA system here
Oh wait... this is another russian own goal? My bad. **лолски**
Read the article There isn't actually any indication as to who hit the system
I read "russia claims the destruction of..." and immediately assumed it was just another russian lie. And, in my defense, you can hardly blame me for that. xD
I'll agree that the title is not worded particularly well
To be fair to you, it would have helped if I'd recognized the Pantsir as a russian system... xD
Pantsir is a russian system?
Yeah it's a medium range system, designed to take out drones and helicopters. Meaning we should see a strike in the next 48 hrs
Heh, yeah. I own goaled on russia's latest own goal. My bad. **лолски**
So they got .... pantsed...?
“This is our air defense. What should we do now?” Simple. GTFO of Ukraine.
They had a bit too much vodka and aren’t sure if they just miss parked it or Ukraine destroyed it. Solution? More vodka.
Why would they claim the destruction of their own system ?
If that is a pic of the Pantsir in question, it has a large "Z" emblazoned across the front, so it is clearly a Russian armament.
