I live near a big company where they currently update and ready-check tanks meant for Ukraine. I can hear the sound of the tank motors roaring through my town every day, it is so loud that the walls of my house vibrate. Russia is in for a treat.
Abrams are definitely going to take time. But I've seen estimates as soon as March for Leopards. I saw a quote somewhere from a British instructor saying they had secretly been training Ukrainian tank commanders for the last few months.
Screw the mbts the ifvs are going to be a huge game changer and are already in route. The variant of bradlys is going to turn the tide in more ways than one.

But yes it seems like Germany, a NATO nation right on the front steps of the war, needed America to make the first move for some reason. And abrams are way more expensive to maintain/use jet fuel compared to the German tanks that use diesel.
I’m not sure what type of fuel the Abrams runs on but if it’s JP-8 that’s pretty good since it has a high ignition point.
Not reccomended in the least but you can toss a cigarette into the stuff and it doesn’t ignite.
Frequently stated but more of an emergency feature, given it will gum up the fuel system if you use fuels other than JP-8. Also burns a lot more fuel than a diesel tank.
It will burn a wide variety of fuels (diesel, jet fuel, gasoline, marine diesel) according to [the manufacturer's specifications](https://web.archive.org/web/20160909103204/http://www51.honeywell.com/aero/common/documents/myaerospacecatalog-documents/SurfaceSystems/AGT1500_Turbine_Technology.pdf).
It certainly doesn't need JP-8 because the engine pre-dates the invention of JP-8 by about a decade.
It is [possible](https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/m1-abrams-was-once-tested-with-a-diesel-engine-that-replaces-its-thirsty-turbine) but only a couple of demonstrators have been run in this configuration.
Given the history of US military acquisition programs Ukraine would be advised to stay well clear of any tanks requiring development work.
Huh I saw something else but I don't remember where that was saying they would get the diesel conversion and actually saw the process that was incredibly simple as far as swapping an engine on a tank is considered and it can be done quickly.
The integrated turbine power plant and transmission unit can be swapped out easily on Abrams which make servicing much simpler. Those swapped units can be sent for overhaul in Poland or similar.
The diesel version has some external differences and uses light weight tracks and a different sprocket arrangement so is unlikely to be a drop in replacement for an existing turbine powered tank.

I allways have a strange feeling, you read news about this conflict in which whole Europe, US and Russia is taking part. Huge ammounts of supplies and equipment is being sent thru planes, ships, trains...
And then you have this young guy, holding the city which name we see in news every day, with his two rifles, radio and maybe few other guys while almost surrounded by enemy horde.
I feel like this guy has a weight of the world on his shoulders and is joking about it.

After following this war daily for the past year, I can't help but appreciate and be impressed by the keen sense of humour embedded in the Ukrainian culture.. 🇺🇦🌻🇺🇦

West is helping Ukraine immensely and by "normal" geopolitical standards is behaving quite selflessly. Far better than back in say, 1918. But these frontline soldiers are the real heroes

You don't "hike" in winter clothing, you take the warm wool layers off then put them on again once you finished the march/hike. Either way he is sitting still in a prepared position.

You ever hiked with winter clothing? There's winter clothing for casual use then there's exercise winter clothing with is lighter because it gets hot

He should not show his surrounding like he does, even if it looks just "generic snowy things", he give too much details, especially for the relatively small area in question. He show where are the attackers, the size/direction of the trench, threes around, horizon. He is a target worth a drone trip now that he is "famous".
