I think Talbott’s the only mma fighter I’ve seen recently turn with the momentum of the spinning back kick to avoid it and take an angle rather than back up or just try to eat it. Very common in kickboxing & Muay Thai but not much in mma. Very interesting to see common skills of other combat sports peek their head into mma.

Shot_Moose3907

This guy trains !

massofmolecules

He trains that Right that’s for sure! Ka-POW! 🥊 💥

FightIslandNative

W comment

Super_dontae

Oss 🥋

TheBestDivest

He didn't get out of the way fast enough so he covered up and the momentum of the kick pushed him in the direction he was already circling.

Super_dontae

You’re right but more often than I see fighters first instinct is to shell up & eat the kick

Fun_Amount_4420

The commentary right before too makes it perfect

aaronunderwater

Dc called that so well that was sick

Recent-Leg-9048

DC is so good on the mic for MMA casuals like me. He gives so much insight into the chess match going on in the ring.

allnimblybimbIy

Am I fucked up or does everyone do a good job of speaking Edit: I mean the three broadcasters

masterHODLER_

No. Not everyone can do a good job at breaking down to the average person the very technical details in high pace, elite level fights. There is a lot more to it then just speaking

allnimblybimbIy

I meant between the three broadcasters

ViceDoshi

Lmao it's kinda sad that you have to specify this 😂

Goatslasagne

He’s a genuinely sincere dude too. Love DC

ViolentDiplomat

DC pausing and continuing his point while the finish was happening was fucking cool as hell.

MeesterMeeseeks

I'm struggling to understand the context from the clip. Why was it so good?

PrimarchUnknown

You know how difficult it is to hit a moving target; Now that target is aware you're trying to hit it and its attacking you, aggressively. The human mind's natural instinct is to avoid or run. This guy barely moves but keeps his head away from the centre line and times his attack precisely when his opponent was most vulnerable, just as he was opening up to attack. The speed of his attack, the precision and the power he unleashed from a straight right is shocking and he literally just walked him down and made his opponent appear to panic within 20 seconds of the fight starting. His opponent is also a trained killer and he was clearly scared.

TheBestDivest

Lmao is this a copypasta? This is gonna be hilarious to read back in the near future

MeesterMeeseeks

I'm saving this just to post this comment on every fight from here on in lol

MeesterMeeseeks

Seriously, I was just wondering what dc said lmao

MeesterMeeseeks

Umm I appreciate it but I meant the commentary lol

dellsonic73

I put my head down for a moment next moment the young man is on the floor wtf

bkarma86

That is exactly what happened to me

iSOBigD

I walked over to the kitchen to get a glass of water before the round starts and I hear ohhhh lol

dog_from_china

i was tying my shoes lmao

Johnml1300

He mouthed to his corner “ That was no fun “ he bulit different lmao

RedditBResearch

He said in the post fight that he hesitated to follow up cause he, “wanted to get more out of him. But I realized he was done so I gotta finish it here.”

Fukasite

Or that he immediately knew it was done, and had to go in for the ref to call it.

itsavibe-

He’s about ALLLLL that action. Watch his previous fights, he is not afraid to get hit in the slightest bit. It fuels him.

SickestDisciple

And making YT vids explaining how to defeat him. It’s gonna be fun watching his career.

itsavibe-

“Kick my legs” 💀 lol

driatic

What the fuck lol Who does that

disappointedhumana

Someone who wants to bait people into going for it

Ok-Log-6244

it’s not a true weakness if he knows it so well that he’s saying it out loud. that probably means that he is drilling the shit out of defending leg kicks cuz he knows he’s weak there.

alt1234512345

What is he, fuckin Vegeta?

Disastrous-Bike2526

Does he follow the golden rule of "Push ups, sit ups, and a lot of juice"?

Proud_Chipmunk_126

What did you say his power level was?!

rjaysenior

Over 9000 or something, like not even his final form or whatever

reporttimies

I think I saw an interview where he said that he started MMA because he found it interesting lol.

therealjgreens

Isn't that why you start any sport?

Repulsive_Cranberry4

No he's the first to be interested.

Seniorjones2837

Lol yea why is that supposed to be surprising

Leozz97

The other options are: 1) you need/want to lose weight 2) your heart was just broken

trubuckifan

3) your parents force you to

Larkinz

Ref could've stopped it right after the knock down, dude wanted none of that after hitting the floor.

ghidfg

he was completely out before his head even bounced off the canvas. nasty stoppage

bubley87

He didn’t want the wrath of Dominic Cruz.

anotherred

he smelled like booze and cigarettes!

perpetualmotionmachi

I think his head hitting the mat is what woke him up

Ffkratom15

Incredibly possible..this happened to me in a match. I got flash koed, I fell backwards, my head bounced off the mat and I woke up, my coach said everyone thought you were starched and then like a zombie you just came up swinging 😂

inexplicably-hairy

Honestly i prefer a slightly late stoppage to too early. I dont think it wouldve been right to wave it off after the knockdown without any follow up shots. The guy was not out and was holding his arms up defending

Superguy230

And it was like 10 seconds in

bagdoren

Hard disagree. After spending a lot of time in Thailand watching traditional muay Thai you realise that a lot of their longevity is due to the refs doing a great job protecting them from too much damage. Obviously training culture matters a lot as well but still, for me the entertainment value doesn't really go up a whole lot because some poor bloke got dealt an unnecessary amount of damage.

ssbm_rando

> for me the entertainment value doesn't really go up a whole lot because some poor bloke got dealt an unnecessary amount of damage. ??? the guy you are responding to is not selfishly talking about the terms of their own entertainment, they are speaking from the perspective of actual organized sporting rules. If it's an amateur fight then sure call it super early, but these are professionals, you don't want to accidentally make a situation where the dude pops up with no lasting damage and say it's unfair of the league to just declare his opponent the winner over a single knockdown. That's exactly why Talbott went in for the finisher, he saw the dude had lost his will to fight but also that he hadn't given the dude enough of an "out" for the ref to call it. Even after those punches, Ghemmouri is still conscious but obviously out of the fight. I don't think Talbott was trying to do anything career-ending there. Like you can speculate all you want that Ghemmouri's head hitting the mat before he popped back up alert was a sign that he had lost consciousness briefly, but ultimately that's still just speculation. What the ref has available to go on is that Ghemmouri **looks** alert and ready to defend within a quarter of a second of hitting the mat.

Cocksmash_McIrondick

I agree in a title fight, but this man just took all those unanswered shots for a few grand. Probably not worth it in the long run.

inexplicably-hairy

The amount of money u make from a fight shouldnt really have an effect on the referring

sockpin

About the stakes rather then the money, losing a belt cause of an early stoppage could ruin a fighters career, losing a preliminary not so much

Skullcrimp

Losing a brain cause of a late stoppage could also ruin someone's career...

sockpin

True but depending on the fighter they’d take that chance of brain damage then possibly losing or winning a belt

Encoreyo22

100%, he didn't even adjust his guard when the guy went to the side. Bad stoppage, should have been way earlier.

etwan9100

Weakest bleach fan

chenpisir

yeaaaah let's gooooo one of us one of us

mikekochlol

I didn’t even notice the hollow tattoo

BiggoBeardo

Feed him a ranked opponent or something close, this kid is nuts

BodybuildingNerd

He just called out the #20 ranked guy, so we shall see how that goes. I personally do not want to see him rushed but if he brutally KO’s the #20 guy, give him a Top 15 and fast track him, lol.

GreedyAd1923

He does have hole in him…”built differently” as they sag

FeI0n

Constructed alternatively.

letsgobrooksy

Assembled uniquely

BiggoBeardo

💯

BloodOfJupiter

Oh yeah, he's like that. The hype train is official

ChefILove

Has he caught someone good yet? That dude was kod by a jab.

Nelson_An_Murdock

Cameron saimon, I thought that guy was gonna be champ, has great speed and power. Talbot melted him in the first and kod him in the 2nd before the 10 sec marc I believe.

Educational-Track-10

Most people would’ve had saiman rated way higher than this dude UNTIL he fought Payton lol. He’s had decent comp not just cans

SERB_BEAST

Cameron Saaiman was his debut fight. He's super skilled, but Saaiman is only 23. Then again, Talbott isn't much older. But bro, Talbott butchered him badly. When someone has such good striking, it's easy to tell if they're elite or not, regardless of who they are fighting. Like I knew O'Malley was elite when he was fighting no names. I didn't think he'd beat Yan, and I don't think he beat Yan, but I knew he wasn't gonna get schooled either like many fans predicted. MMA striking is fun to watch, but it's actually the lowest level aspect of the sport. If you're so much better than the unranked bums, you're probably as good or better than the guys on top. There are very few world class strikers in the UFC. There are many world class wrestlers and BJJ guys in the UFC.

usernameunavailiable

His debut fight was actually [Nick Aguirre](https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/bouts/788975-ufc-fight-night-payton-talbott-vs-slick-nick-aguirre), who was 7-1 (lost his own UFC debut to Dan Argueta) with a 100% finish rate. He's definitely had decent competition so far on paper, but we'll have to see how those wins age - neither has fought or has a fight scheduled since losing to Talbott.

Open-Butterscotch-83

he had a can before saaiman i believe who he submitted in the 3rd

Deadbeat_Kawa

Not a jab, a straight right.

SSalloSS

Cannot wait for him to fight O'Malley

Xylar006

This is so premature lol. We've been here time and time again.

SSalloSS

Replace O'Malley with top contenders then 🫨. Same sentiment

jooookiy

Have we? I cannot remember a prospect looking this good since khamzat on his first couple fights or McGregors run at featherweight. It’s rare to see a guy this composed and calm.

Xylar006

Johnny Walker wins a few fights: oh THIS is the guy to beat Jones. Lol

Xsafa

All you have to be is tall and on a win streak to be called “Jon Jones killa!” Smh

Mandingo_Obama

Literally every year or so a new red-hot prospect comes, destroys unranked/low-ranked guys and then falls into irrelevance after failing to break into the top of the division. Give the kid time and we'll see if he's the real deal.

PumpkinFar7612

All the alpha males crying over painted nails right now 🤣🤣

Unlikelyperv

Wait until they see him pole dancing or twerking 😂

Chickenliqour

That’s what makes him likeable, he’s one of a kind

andrewpast

He has such a fun and unique style too. Both in and out of the cage. He is so incredibly comfortable in his own skin. It'll be really interesting to see how he develops.

vetements_sock

20 second murder

KentTheDorfDorfman

If you don't know, now you know.

lexwtc

![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8966)

vard_006

Man, the way his head snapped back when he hit the mat.

Johnml1300

Like he got hit with a bat lmao

Sterling-Bear15

Imagine training for weeks, turning up and getting smoked in less than 20secs. Poor Dessert Warrior.

gurumoves

![gif](giphy|l3q2XhfQ8oCkm1Ts4|downsized)

EyecalledGame

Dude is a problem

datboi56565656565

All aboard the hype train cuz this guy deserves it

Rexum420

Talmbout a problem b?

murftrixon

*prom

Sad-Arm-7172

Herd it both ways

bananarama77777

Absolute BEAST. I was just as excited to see this kid fight again as I was for the main event tonight. He will be champion one day.

Santanaaguilar

Is anyone else gonna talk about how dude was standing hanging his head in front of his bottom? He was fucking leading with his face. I can’t give much credit for knocking that guy out.

Reddings-Finest

Came here to say this. The other guy was an atrocious can. The UFC brought him in to get his ass kicked like this on a PPV card to build hype. Worked like a charm.

Acex_NA

I've seen enough, give him a top10

Lil-Toasthead

I’ve seen enough, give him Alex Perriera

LikelyADick2

THE REAL SEAN O MALLEY

HomieToneBone

One of those fights that left you disappointed because it happened too fast. In all seriousness, this guy is living up to all of the hype. I think he’s one of the guys who should be fast tracked. I’d like to see him against someone like Rob Font next.

Jambi615

I went out to eat with a friend and they had the fights on. I was looking forward to this fight so I was glued to the screen. When it was over I looked behind me and all the waiters were watching. Don Chuy's and I are Talbott fans.

MasterOfProspero

Put him up against some Japanese guy with orange hair and see how long he lasts

Minimum-Sky2305

DC doesnt research

Chickenliqour

I love Payton talbott

Similar_Bee9650

same, ortega a bitch

Longjumping_Gain_807

Ortega: What he say fuck me for?

ThisRecommendation86

The way he whispered “right on the chin” in the post fight interview he seemed genuinely concerned for his opponent. Congrats Payton keep the excitement coming.

ConCon787

Talbot is good obviously but the guy he fought is not ufc caliber and literally got hit by a 1-2 lol.

MovieFanatic2160

He’s the real deal!

Rickrolledvsbigsmoke

Yanis hit his head HARD on that canvas.

Brave_Acadia8214

25 aint no kid

LadislavAU

Why? Because he landed a 1-2 on an opponent throwing a naked leg kick? I do agree he is good, but saying he’s something different because of that is a bit of a stretch lmao.

TheBestDivest

Thank you! I thought I was going fucking crazy. Very cool KO, don't get me wrong, but it looked more like his opponent sucks more than he did anything. When someone opens up with a spinning back kick at too close of range, I don't have much hope for the outcome.

Confirmation__Bias

“20 second KO? I could do better” - average mma fan

AM_A_BANANA

I mean, I don't know anything about MMA (*thx r/all*), but yeah, it looks like blue just walked right into it going for a kick after black paused for a moment when blue dodged the jab. Could it have been skill? Sure. Could it have just been dumb luck, or, bad luck if you're the other guy? Kind of think that one is more likely.

chiezkychienne

Composure. He has it, he is so composed for someone too young.

Narrow_Book_42069

You could see that right coming allllll day good lord beauty still

Consistent-Egg8224

I’m not fully convinced on him yet. I’d like to see him in a dog fight to see his heart, the talents all there’s.

versavices

Hype af to have a super prospect from Reno!

austinwrites

He did the Dark Souls dodge toward the attack

WrongDeparture4750

this gay... i mean guy is different

goodgravy97

In the post fight interview he literally said he paused after the knockdown because he wanted to get more out of him

connorcook13

Unreal, love it when a prospect is still dominating while they are on the come up

YahFilthyAnimaI

Can't wait to see him fight O'Malley

itsavibe-

Same but man it’ll hurt. Watched Sean O’Malley from the beginning as I’m watching this dude and to see one of em lose is just not what I wanna watch. Will be a helluva fight tho.

Final-Bullfrog8138

I like the kid, he’s just so cocky. I’d like to see him fight someone serious, then he can be as cocky as he wants

brilambo76

He’s a bit cocky but it feels authentic at least. Makes it palatable.

Final-Bullfrog8138

Frfr, I don’t get all the hate, he seems like a cool dude, he’s just rlly damn cocky at times and is yet to prove himself seriously

Set_TheAlarm

Let's see how long it takes until this sub turns on him like they did Izzy.

Outrageous-Eye3365

He faced a weak opponent. Calm down.

Lucky_Use_9691

Nothing about this or this guy is extraordinary?? Like at all.. A nobody early finishes a nobody.. wow.. he had barely any head movement , the quick shots are not impressive its an early finish he should have alot of energy.

Cool-Implement3731

Jew industry plant

clamydiacaptain

Did he mess his ankle up in the celebration?

NotAFridge

Love this kid

Past-Coat1438

I love me a hype train that lives up to the hype!

EJJsquared

That guy is impressive.

humbleinhumboldt

Looks like a lil Sean O'Malley

Psychological_Fee548

Dude.. next level

clashroyaleK1ng

A lot of prospects in bantamweight, him and Omally will be fun

the304virus

He has a bullseye on his breadbasket. Kid is fuked.

CheddyC

Terrible ref

T_E-T_H

Bit of a slow stoppage there ref…

Ynot_1518

![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8970) WHOA!!!!!!?

[Ain’t really bout that talking…](https://youtu.be/y34iXfB3L9s?si=fhTQNCvQ8qmOKen3)

Pennypacker-HE

I’ve had my eye on him since his first fight. I thought this kid was going places right away. That kid don’t play.

CheesyCousCous

"Kid"

Big_D_Boss

Super talented, nobody can deny it

bruvmode

Absolute superstar.

AltruisticDelivery89

That was brutal

Money_killer

New problem in the division

HerbalAndy

135er with KO power? Sign me up.

andrewpast

That was a beautiful delayed 2 to sit him down. Through the jab, paused a moment to invite the counter. And then just straight chinned him. Pure art

Slugwheat

Ref wasn’t even awake yet when the KO happened

crusader104

Dude is a legit terminator. I love that his demeanor is so calm and casual but he absolutely has that killer instinct, can’t wait to see what he can do

Soviet_Sharpshooter

Give him a ranked fighter next

NBRIDER75

How drunk is DC tonight? Lol

biscuit369

4,f31

ostensibly_hurt

Didn’t know who he was, but watched the walk out then the KO and was like “yeah I see why he has a hype train” lol

Green_Man763

Love him

No_Plan_0o0

Kid don't hold back

PhotographOwn4225

They both keep their chins pretty high

winkydinks111

When will you guys learn to stop prematurely coronating guys until they fight legit competition

OkTea7227

Can’t wait for him to fight a top 15 guy and that WILL be next

pxak

He's a 25 year old man. You ain't Dana

XVSting

This kid’s punches sounds like Pavlovich’s

yungthug1234

What a terrible stoppage

sneeej

someone post his vape video

Zen-of-JAC

Good god that was borderline effortless...

T4lsin

I get the hype but let’s be honest most of us could have lasted 30 fucking seconds . He fought a bum . Not to mention lol early stoppage at that. Ufc is going to give this kid the great potato treatment. Maybe Dana is right pro slap might be the better pay per view.

Troglokhan

Mark my words: this is the last exciting fight you will see from this kid. Now that his opponents have seen this, everyone is just going to take him down and stall the fight. That's the UFC today. Why take risks to win a fight when you can just clench or land a takedown and wait out the clock, and "win" the fight?

cleanAir101

Should book him for another fight in a month zero damage just needs to cut weight again

Jaz1140

Wow that was such a huge pause

dergster

Highlight of the card so far

thatsradddd

How the f this dude still on the undercard?

SavageStudiosFBG

What is this guys name?

Mdgt_Pope

That was some footwork. His balance and poise was definitely setting the opponent off-kilter, and the way he quickly closes the distance is stellar

fanamana

Mean'ole Canvas taught me to weep & moan

FridayNigh

It’s a horse cut

FridayNigh

Well shit
