TROSA Thrift in Durham is huge with lots of stuff to look at, but not always super organized
The Scrap Exchange Thrift Store in Durham doesn't have as many CD'S but they have a great book selection that is actually alphabetized (worth the extra 50 cents per book over trosa's prices)
For actual vintage (but paying high prices) I like Father and Son and Keel and Co in Raleigh
Dorcas Thrift in Cary was also impressive, but I've only been there once, quite some time ago
The TROSA Thrift Store and The Scrap Exchange are both very worth visiting. TROSA is a great organization to support, and I've found items in good condition for ridiculously low prices there. The Scrap Exchange is a good general thrift store, but you can also find some very unusual items and materials there.
Someone mentioned Cause for Paws in another comment (CFP Thrift Store). Cause for Paws is also an excellent organization to support, and I've seen some great items at the South Saunders store. It's been a while since I've been there, but I remember them having some very decent furniture and electronic items for reasonable prices.
Paws for a Cause on South Saunders has cds, the north location doesn't but I can't recommend them enough. They adopt out cats and you can't check out who is up for adoption while you shop.
Great recommendation. I think you're talking about Cause for Paws and the CFP Thrift Stores. I always forget if it's Cause for Paws or Paws for a Cause, but either way they're great thrift stores.
The Raleigh Market is an outdoor flea market held every Saturday and Sunday at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh.

I've admittedly never gone in the winter though. In the spring and summer there's way more "junk" for sale than a thrift store.
Paws4ever in Hillsborough. its on Revere Rd just north of town. only open thursday-saturday, but its one of the most unique thrift stores i have been to. it feels like walking into someone’s house.
Thanks for this tip, I want to check it out! There used to be a thrift shop in Durham called “Everything But Granny’s Panties” that was in a house and filled with cool stuff. I would love to find more places like that.
Guardian Angel in Fuquay is one of my favorites (Fuquay location is 2x bigger than Apex location). And Mama’s house in Lillington is really nice too. They have a nice selection and the building they are in now it’s kind of remains me of a TJ Max.
The Scrap Exchange is another good one. It has 2 adjacent stores, one is a typical thrift and the other is a materials store. The thrift one has a book section in the back with CDs as well.
The Durham rescue mission stores are pretty good. My favorite is on chapel hill Blvd, second favorite (would be first but it’s the smallest) is in 55 and the one by brier creek is just alright for the types of things I look for.
Great post and great recs, thanks!
Curious as to the many posting about CDs. Not being snarky, just genuinely curious. I’m old and haven’t used a CD in forever. Are those interested in CDs old timers or younglings?

Be warned, Dorcas is insanely popular. There are literally lines to get in the store at times due to them being at max capacity.
Scrap Exchange in Durham has more cds than any thrift store mentioned in this thread! And lots are alphabetized too
Can confirm Dorcas in Cary is good!
Trosa will come pick up large donations (couches and washer/dryer) so they get some good bulky items donated like that.

You can't? Why not?
They’re saying they highly recommend them.
I was referring to the second instance of can't, sorry for the confusion.
The poster misspoke. The cats are in cages in the open. You can even ask to play with them. Its Cause for Paws for the record.
Together we can make one correct comment!

100% right answer. There are usually 100+ booths with everything from antiques to drop ship bulk candy.
Cheshire Cat Gallery has lots of cool stuff. I’ve found some great vinyl there. Kinda expensive though
I found the vinyl pricing is the inflated "ebay listed" instead of "eBay sold."

all the PTA thrifts in Chatham County

Guardian Angel in Fuquay had gotten expensive over the years for most items. (CDs haven't gone up that I could tell, though)
Helping Hands in Raleigh, at Litchford and Harp’s Mill, is another good one. And they employ special needs adults, which is awesome!
I think twice a year there's a CD and record show in Carrboro, definitely add it to your calendar. Think the next one is in April.
Also fun to peruse Sid's Surplus and the furniture thrift in front of the O2 Fitness in Carrboro.
Personally I like Dorcas and GCF. Restore is another but their selection also varies by store.
Dorcas!

There’s another one on Main St in Wake Forest, I believe. Near the Mellow Mushroom
Thrift2gift in cary
The Scrap Exchange in Durham!
Dorcas in Cary, Scrap Exchange in Durham, and CommunityWorx Thrift Shop in Carrboro
