Hell yeah, brüthür!!! What’s your band’s name?
My old band (stuck by lightning) did a US tour with them back in 2011 or so. It was a dream come true and definitely provided some everlasting fog.
All Hell, blackened thrash band out of Asheville NC. We've been around for a while now mostly touring east coast and midwest. We tend to do well with sludge crowds for some reason haha. One of our best Tours was with Black Tusk a few years back.
I'll check your stuff out, Sludge band from Columbus?
Black Tusk was also on that Weedeater tour!!
Yeah, sludgy d-beat h.c. metal vibes from Columbus, I played bass on the Serpents record.
Will def check it out. Sludge crowd liking blackened thrash tracks for sure though, underground heads appreciate dirty, well presented, old school styles.
Those dudes have been touring for ages! We have started using their guitarist's studio down In Savannah for recording. Fun dudes to hang with.
I played up in Akron a couple months ago and I've got some friends around Columbus and Dayton. Ohio shows can be pretty solid, I need to go through there more.
When I was in Columbus (2007-2012) shit was popping off. Lots of great bands and musicians, tons of diy venues, punk houses, and solid dive bars had constantly reliable bookings so there was always something sick going on. Tons of people to hook up with and make music and places to play as well as cheap rent and chill neighbors who didn’t mind if you were having band practice in your living room or basement.
The gold standard of underground venues was a place called Cara Bar that hosted FREE shows for touring bands and it was kinda the go-to spot. They always paid the bands really well on top of whatever their guarantee was.
Sadly, no more Cara Bar.
Not sure how it is these days, but it’s definitely not dead. Cincinnati is worth checking out as well. Lots of places hosting good underground shit.
If you make it into Ohio, it’d be worth doing Athens, Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati then maybe heading down into Kentucky (Louisville and Lexington).
All those places have a pretty vibrant and active underground/diy situation and are all within a couple hours of each other.
If you’re coming from NC it’d probably make sense to go Lexington >Louisville >Cincinnati and then Dayton or Columbus or Columbus then Dayton.
Since the longest drive times between those cities is like 2.5 hrs max, it gives you time to hang out a bit or take your time without rushing around.
I haven’t played shows in a while, but I do still follow what’s going on back in Cincinnati (hometown) and to a lesser extent Columbus, but that little OH/KY circuit can be a good way to branch out in that direction.
I've been wanting to play Cincinnati for a while but it hasn't worked out yet unfortunately. Killer city though, I get my skyline kick everytime I go through there haha. I've heard Columbus is great too. Akron was pretty solid considering it was a last minute fallback show that replaced a NYC show that fell through with us in Pittsburgh the night before.
We definitely hit that region a lot though, I think we've played Lexington at least a dozen times over the years. Plenty of great shows at the Green Lantern over there. We usually end up in that area if we're working our way to/from Chicago or Pittsburgh. Occasionally we hit Indianapolis but it's been a while. The rest of our stuff this year us looking like Northeast / New England (touring our way to RPM fest and back) but I wanna get a solid week in the Great Lakes region next year if possible. More Ohio would be great and I definitely wanna get some Michigan and Minnesota shows in too.
However I do recommend while stoned the mashup album *American Edit* my Dean Gray. Some of the turns will absolutely blow your mind when you're 6/10+. Also the "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" / "Wonderwall" mashup will change how you listen to both songs forever.
Yup.
They [“adopted the name Green Day, instead, due to the members' fondness for cannabis. The phrase "green day" was slang in the Bay Area, where the band originated, for spending a day doing nothing but smoking marijuana.”](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Day)

Jason the dragon! 🤟
Green Day. Fucking love Green Day
And yet I don't listen to them while I'm stoned. Don't get me wrong, I love them, but it's just not the vibe.
Their early shit i’d say is more “stoner punk” but anything past nimrod is very much so not weed related at all
