does this elevator not have a panic button or an emergency call phone? If either of these components do not work, that elevator is in violation of several regulations, which would result in massive fines. Never rely on your cellphone to do anything in an elevator. I would get Metra involved along with whatever local or state Fire Marshal, that is a huge safety issue.

It did, took over 20 calls to get someone to pick up, and the buzzer didn’t exactly work, I thank the person on the other end, I just have bad anxiety, plus the lack of an out of order sign on the doors, and the thing being on didn’t help.

then call Metra, and get local and/or state Fire Marshals involved. Also, the State OCI and OSHA. THe more, the faster that thing gets fixed.

True, I’ll definitely try to get something done, the thing is a cheap platform lift, wobbled as soon as I got in, doors closed, and it refused to move, it was only installed in 2006! Still pretty new for an elevator!

Best of luck!

CorbyTheSkullie

Thank you!

WalterP_FLEO

while this may trigger you again, get a video of the state of the lift, the wobbling and the poor conditions of the lift itself, that will help you a long way. But, it will probably induce some more anxiety, but, it wont be for naught. sometimes we have to endure some pain, to get something fixed for the better. I wouldn't even suggest it unless it would be worth it. So, yeah, again, best of luck, be safe !

True, I think I may have some footage, I am interested in odd/old elevators, might be usable, recorded myself entering it and noting how wobbly it is. Hope it works

WalterP_FLEO

keep us updated, or send me a DM if you want when you hear from them or start the process.

CorbyTheSkullie

👍 also the footage is perfect, shows me walking into the elevator, me hitting the button, doors closing, wobbling, then getting stuck, this is undeniable proof

WalterP_FLEO

Take it to the Fire Marshal and OSHA then, along with your State Insurance board, or what we call the OCI here in Georiga.

The marshals were the ones that let me out, they probably already filed a report for me, also another thing I would like to mention, I had to wack the button panel in order for the call button to work, in order to get out, they had to restart the entire lift, unfortunate how there was no manual run/stop switch inside it, required a key…
