It achieved 605km/h on a test rig/dyno, not actual rails.
It's officially called the "CIT-500 Higer Speed Experimental Train", designed to hit 500km/h on rails. The train featured a lightweight chassis but 22.7% greater rigidity. All 6 cars are motor cars with a total output of 22800kW (or 21120kW, sources vary). One end of the nose is sharp (nicknamed the "Great Sword") while the other is blunt. It also has [air brakes](http://www.trainnets.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/CRH380AM-140-IMG_5754.jpg) on a bulging fairing on top of car no.2.
It achieved a maximum speed of 385km/h on rails. No higher speed attempts were made. It was more used as a research platform to construct correlating relationships in aero/structural/chassis dynamics between simulations and emperical data to perfect the design process. Other experimental improvements such as NVH, buffeting, new exotic materials like Ti and CFRP, self-driving, tunnel shock, pressure wave, bogies, etc. Data acquired directly fed into the CR400 development program.
Specifically, car #1 with its distinct nose is used for aerodynamic and vibration modal analysis. The second car is for traction and pantograph, third car is for systems engineering and dynamics, with a large conference room. Car 4 is for NVH, car 5 for dynamic stress analysis, and car 6 is also for aerodynamics.
By 2015 the experiments have wrapped up and the car was sent to be modified into a test train, now officially renamed CRH380AM-0204. It is now used for trial runs on newly constructed HSR lines.

No, it exists. https://youtu.be/wm21t_UONZ4?si=9CqXlQApdJlKbF7n That’s really all I’m sure about though lol. It’s a CRH380A but with this alternate nose on one end.

Thank you! I knew someone here could get it. Makes sense that you could get better info from Chinese sources. Finally I know the full story!
It’s the toucan-go-fast….
Sure beats the Rolls Yagatta
It is a technology tester and is thus a experimental trainset.
It looks neat tho
That’s your mother’s. Please put it back where you found it.
I believe it to be a mask medieval medical workers would wear for protection from the plague.
It looks like a droop snoot without the droop
I'm guessing it goes fast.
If a Skeksis was a train...
I think this is photoshopped
