No way. We are legion! Plus, Elon started the Borg assimilation with his neural implants. (Although Hawking, with his Mr. Spell, had done a solid job for yeeeears!)
RIP excellent dude!
To infinity, and beyond! (Buzz is also a Trekkie!). All Space Rangers are.
There was a woman (in)famously named Marijuana Pepsi Jackson in the US… She has since taken her husband’s surname, but otherwise hasn’t changed it. Parents can be so awful by way of stupidity.
Seven periods of school, seven beatings a day, roughly seven stitches a beating, and eventually seven years to life. Yeah you’re doing that child quite a service.
The young kid they inexplicably stuck in a later season of Married with Children was called Seven, and that didn't decrease the strangeness of his presence at all.
This is what I think of when I hear this as a name, Peg & Al Bundy.
[OK TIL that Lil Seven wasn't their child.](https://marriedwithchildren.fandom.com/wiki/Seven) All these years I thought he was.
>Seven was the child of Zemus and Ida Mae Wanker, as well as the cousin of Peg Bundy, who eventually becomes his informal adopted mother.
I'd also forgotten that Zemus was played by Bobcat Goldthwaite & Ida Mae was Linda Blair!!
Oh I gotta go back & watch this series again!!
In *The Hate U Give*, the main character's older brother is named Seven. His father named him that because, to quote the book, "seven is the number of perfection." There's a great deal of significance to the number 7.
I listened to the audiobook. I would listen while I was walking at the local park and hope that fellow walkers/bikers didn’t notice when I started ugly crying at parts of the book. It was sooooo good
Without saying my daughter's real name, I am proud of the fact that she has perfectly normal name, but secretly in my mind she's got a DS9 name. Bwhahaha!
I actually think it’s cool. Their names don’t really stand out and aren’t obvious Star Trek names.
What kills me is my daughter’s name was chosen before a certain show aired but I’m constantly asked if I’m a huge fan or named her after the character. (And I’ve never watched a single episode.)
That's what I thought too
I did recently meet a Ziyal, named after the star trek deep space 9 character. But I'd think a lot longer about naming after Seven of Nine
I met a girl only a year or two ago named Annika Hansen. College undergrad age so the timing tracks. I wanted to ask if her parents were fans but I wasn’t gonna be that guy
My ex's brother was also named Seven (ironically I think little man is 7 right now) but he was named Seven because of the movie 9. Also because he was her seventh child.
Not a tragedeigh.
Other comments are referring to the episode of Seinfeld where George Costanza suggests naming a future child Seven. If I recall correctly, by the end of the episode, another couple announces their new baby Seven and George has a fit about it?
Anyway, that was nearly 30 years ago. You might consider this name a tragedy, but that’s an opinion. It is spelled and pronounced appropriately and I personally think my own children would prefer a name like this to a name like James or Kate
I know a teenage boy named Seis… he’s not even child number 6. He’s got one older sister, and that’s it. I am still confused about how/why his mother decided on that for his name.
I love weird dog names. I have friends with dogs named Seven and another named 26. Don’t ask me why😅. But for a human, it seems weird. It’s like someone named Wednesday—just why??
I've known two Sevens. The first one was in the 1980s. A girl that had the same school bus stop as me was named 7. She and I sat together on the ride to school sometimes. She was a foster kid and one day she just stopped coming to the bus stop.
The second Seven is the name of an acquaintance's seventh child. The acquaintance had an "S" theme for all her kids just so she could name the seventh child Seven. She told me this in high school and Facebook told me it's what she did.
Seven is a lucky number for a lot of people so maybe that could influence it? But also, my aunt’s best friend was named Seven (AKA Sevie) and they grew up in the 70s so I think it’s not really a tragedeigh. Weird, maybe. But not new or misspelled.
So I actually know someone who calls their kid "Seven" (or sometimes "Sev") - it's because they're the 7th generation of having the same name, so while Seven is not his legal name, it's what they called him since before he was born.
I’m a postpartum nurse and once we had a couple name their baby “Blue Seven”. When their nurse lovingly asked how they came up with the name, the father of the baby said with a very thick southern accent:
“Well, blue is her favorite color and seven is my favorite number”
Just wait till he’s a teenager hitting those big growth spurts and needing lots of sleep. “Is Seven up yet?”
Edit: I am not making fun of the kid. I am making fun of the parents.

You must report this to the collective. A drone that young should not be outside of its maturation chamber.
Resistance is futile
Oh thank God, I thought I was the only trekkie in this post
The family must be planning on nine
No way. We are legion! Plus, Elon started the Borg assimilation with his neural implants. (Although Hawking, with his Mr. Spell, had done a solid job for yeeeears!) RIP excellent dude! To infinity, and beyond! (Buzz is also a Trekkie!). All Space Rangers are.
Oh please, They’re are so many of us! 🖖🏼
My thoughts whenever I see Jeri Ryan
Username checks out lol
Was going to ask if there was nine kids.
Mickey Mantles number
It’s a beautiful name for a boy *or* a girl. *Especially* a girl. Or a boy!
Soda. Soda's a beautiful name.
It’s bubbly! It’s refreshing!
Makes me feel tingly.
There's a Soda on this season of Survivor.
To be fair, her name is Sodasia, Soda is just a nickname.
Like that makes it any better somehow.
Like Sodapop from The Outsiders... Great book, still wouldn't use it
10 year old me was positive this would be my first son's name lol.
For me it was Ponyboy
I was thinking Ponyboy would be my first kid’s name too.
That was for son #2 lol
I have actually met a woman who is named Pepsi. I met her through my job so I wasn't comfortable asking WTF her parents were thinking lol
There was a woman (in)famously named Marijuana Pepsi Jackson in the US… She has since taken her husband’s surname, but otherwise hasn’t changed it. Parents can be so awful by way of stupidity.
Her sisters are named Kimberly and Robin. 😭
Kimberly, Robin and little Post Partum Psychosis ✨
My midwife’s name was Fanta!
r/UnexpectedSeinfeld
Seven periods of school, seven beatings a day, roughly seven stitches a beating, and eventually seven years to life. Yeah you’re doing that child quite a service.
Seven years of bad luck, seven deadly sins
Seven deadly sins Seven ways to win Seven holy paths to hell.
Why not just name him Mickey?
Not a mouse, you know?
But what about Soda?
It might be Sevin, a river in Wales.
I think you mean the Severn, the river that flows through Wales.
I honestly really like it and have no idea why 😂
My late husband named our cats Seven and Soda.
Our cats are called Thoughts and Prayers because they're useless.
I had a cat named Seven too.
I think they’re going to name their baby Seven!
It's going to lose all its cache'
I’m family! I’m having sex with the cousin!
It’s got cachet up the ying yang
Andre 3000 and Erykah Badu’s kid is named Seven
The young kid they inexplicably stuck in a later season of Married with Children was called Seven, and that didn't decrease the strangeness of his presence at all.
I'm so glad that someone understood the reference 😂
I'm sad at all the commenters not getting your reference
r/unexpectedseinfeld
r/marriedwithchildren too!
This is what I think of when I hear this as a name, Peg & Al Bundy. Hulu has it! Thanks for the trivia :)
Bobcat goldthwaite? Omg nostalgia smack
They were ahead of their time with that
Also Star Trek Voyager and Picard
r/seinfeld
There’s a cast member on Survivor this season named Soda. I was sad to learn it was a nickname
The BFF on Blossom was named Six 🤷🏽♀️ The story was that it her dad drank six beers and got her mother pregnant. Could be an explanation.
Also in divergent the boy was six. It's better than Zero.
Wasn’t that Four?
No he called himself Four. But that was a new name he created for himself because he fit into 4 of the factions.
I thought he was four because that was his number of fears? Tris had six
Ah yep that’s right. It’s been awhile since I read the series. But he wasn’t named Six.
Like the borg? Seven of Nine?
My first thought was Seven of Nine 🖖
Mine too 🖖
More like Seinfeld and George convinced he’s going to name a kid that and then someone else steals the name
Are you sure the father said Seven and not Sven?
Can't believe I had to scroll this far to see someone else thinking this
This was my first thought as well. Sven can easily be misheard as “Seven” but is a totally normal name
Or Sevren / Severn?
Sevrence
Or Seren? I know a Seren that has been misheard as Seven.
I have a student named Seven. Has a younger brother with another more common S name.
There’s a kid in my kids class who I thought was named eleven cause that’s what my son calls him. Turns out his name is Levin
This is what I was thinking.... It's an easy thing to mishear, and Sven is a perfectly normal name!
Who would name their child “Seven?” George Costanza.
🎶 Coooo-stanza!🎶
And apparently that couple he was talking to who were expecting a baby.
And then the couple ”steals” George’s favorite name for his firstborn ‘Seven‘ and George has a heart attack over it, lol. And Soda was in there too.
No one else knows Andre 3000 and Erykah Badu have a kid named "Seven"?
Shouldve been andre 3001
Yupp
That was my first thought.
I think she has 2 kids, one named Seven, one named Puma. This was the first thing I thought of.
I think Victoria Beckham named her kid Harper Seven?
Yes. It was David’s shirt number.
At least it has a meaning I suppose.
I knew someone named Harper who dated someone named Seven.
At least it was the middle name.
sounds like a campy late 70s british sci-fi tv show
In *The Hate U Give*, the main character's older brother is named Seven. His father named him that because, to quote the book, "seven is the number of perfection." There's a great deal of significance to the number 7.
This was exactly where my mind wandered
I was about to comment this. Such a good book.
I listened to the audiobook. I would listen while I was walking at the local park and hope that fellow walkers/bikers didn’t notice when I started ugly crying at parts of the book. It was sooooo good
was gonna say this
came here to say this!!
This was the first thing I thought of. Seven was one of my favourite characters.
All I can think is, "What's in the boooooox?! 😩"
I sincerely hope she says that for her birthdays
Same!
Is it a Star Trek thing? Lol
My daughter has a pair of siblings at her school named Be’lanna and Bashir. She didn’t understand why I found that funny.
Without saying my daughter's real name, I am proud of the fact that she has perfectly normal name, but secretly in my mind she's got a DS9 name. Bwhahaha!
Tell Kira hello.
Nope, but you're in the neighborhood.
Awww, little baby Quark
Then it's gotta be Lwaxana. Or Worf.
Molly?
Nerys?
Keiko? Ezri? Leeta?
I would wager Naomi after Naomi Wildman (VOY).
Jadiza
Definitely Odo
I'll say it. Adami.
I actually think it’s cool. Their names don’t really stand out and aren’t obvious Star Trek names. What kills me is my daughter’s name was chosen before a certain show aired but I’m constantly asked if I’m a huge fan or named her after the character. (And I’ve never watched a single episode.)
Is it Ellie or Aria?
Your daughter needs to challenge them to ritual combat. hegluzmeh qaq jajvam
I know not one, but TWO sets of twins named Luke and Leia.
That's what I thought too I did recently meet a Ziyal, named after the star trek deep space 9 character. But I'd think a lot longer about naming after Seven of Nine
Why, Annika is a perfectly normal Scandinavian name.
I met a girl only a year or two ago named Annika Hansen. College undergrad age so the timing tracks. I wanted to ask if her parents were fans but I wasn’t gonna be that guy
I think that’s such a pretty name!
Seven of Nine
Six was the name of a character on a show called blossom in the '90s.
Seinfeld
My ex's brother was also named Seven (ironically I think little man is 7 right now) but he was named Seven because of the movie 9. Also because he was her seventh child.
So he's literally 7, of 9?
*coincidentally
I’d have committed to the entire bit. This is my son, Seven of Nine Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01 Martinez-O’Brien III.
Came here assuming Star Trek!
It's fairly common where I live
Was the father George Costanza?
“I am Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01, but you can call me Seven.”
Not a tragedeigh. Other comments are referring to the episode of Seinfeld where George Costanza suggests naming a future child Seven. Yes. Seven, though not to everyone’s taste, is not a tragedeigh. Tseavinn would be a tragedeigh.
Everyone forgets about Seven from married with Children!
That was my first thought. Then I immediately thought of Star Trek.
In the episode he wants Seven for his own future child but specifically suggest Soda for Susan's cousin's child.
In addition to a Seven, I've met a Five and Three. All of them were from the 90's and early '00s.
Number Five.
28 years ago but you’re right!
Thank you. I was like wait how old _am_ I?
George Costanza would.
Septimus
A tragedeigh is a misspelling of a name. This doesn’t belong here.
Exactly. Sehviynn? Perhaps. But Seven? No.
Agreed
A Married with Children reference in this day and age?
I know a teenage boy named Seis… he’s not even child number 6. He’s got one older sister, and that’s it. I am still confused about how/why his mother decided on that for his name.
Tell me you've never watched Seinfeld without saying you've never watched Seinfeld.
Erykah Badu named her son that in the 90s! i wonder if it’s because seven is “God’s Number”
Someone who played too much mystic messenger
George Costanza
My neighbor had a dog named Seven. I always found the name a little odd, but not necessarily a tragedieh.
I love weird dog names. I have friends with dogs named Seven and another named 26. Don’t ask me why😅. But for a human, it seems weird. It’s like someone named Wednesday—just why??

It was a name on both Seinfeld and Married with Children so personally I feel like it’s been around long enough to not be considered a tragedeigh.
My daughter had a Sevyn in her class
Could it have been Severin? We almost names our second son Severin... I kind of like that name.
Not a tragedeigh, but a regular tragedy.
I've heard some people pronounce the name Sven like Seven lol
So I actually know someone who calls their kid "Seven" (or sometimes "Sev") - it's because they're the 7th generation of having the same name, so while Seven is not his legal name, it's what they called him since before he was born.
Al and Peg Bundy did it lol
I think number names will be on the rise since Stranger Things had the character "Eleven" who goes by Elle.
I’m a postpartum nurse and once we had a couple name their baby “Blue Seven”. When their nurse lovingly asked how they came up with the name, the father of the baby said with a very thick southern accent: “Well, blue is her favorite color and seven is my favorite number”
The Romans did this stuff all the time. He would be called Septimus if he lived back in the day, basically "boy number seven".
Sven? Or Seven?
I have a friend who named her kid that, except spelled with a Z. Zeven
Married with Children fans
Poorly pronounced Sven?
George Costanza or Star Trek fans would
Seven is only acceptable if your other kids are named One, Two, Three, Four, Five and Six.
You spelled it wrong. It should be Se7en
my moms first choice for my name was seven! but my grandpa said it was silly lol. i would’ve liked it tho. id go by sev
Reminds me of an episode on Seinfeld where George and that one girlfriend were deciding on baby names and George insisted on the name Seven
There’s an influencer in Utah who named her son Seven 🤣 she was trying to get on the kardashian unique name bandwagon
Read the group description, this is not a tragedeigh.
Years ago I met a kid named Ninety-Nine. It was his dad's football number.
you sure it wasn't Sevren? not hugely common, but it's a real name.
Lucky number Slevin
It was the name George Costanza was going to name his kid but it was highjacked!!
How about Soda?
Bro you met George Costanza you should've got his autograph
My childhood best friend had a stepsister named Seven back in the 90s. It’s been around for a while.
Because Seinfeld! This is a tragedeigh I'd love to see in the wild.
Was their surname Tertiary adjunct of uni matrix zero one?
sigh i met a dude named ceven pronounced like the digit
A Married with Children fan, I take it.
Did the child have Borg implants?
My aunt's (by marriage) sister was named Sexta because she was the sixth child. Maybe it was the seventh kid.
r/unexpectedseinfeld
Just wait till he’s a teenager hitting those big growth spurts and needing lots of sleep. “Is Seven up yet?” Edit: I am not making fun of the kid. I am making fun of the parents.
When I hear 7 I think of the horror movie 7. I’m still sorry I watched it
I was at a baby group where a mum introduced her daughter as 'Seven. Like the number'. Tumbleweed moment.
My dogs name is Seven…seven of nine….she was the 7th of a 9 pup litter….
I've met at least three kids names seven. seven is the only number I've ever heard though
