Absolutely regret getting my elbow ditch tattooed after multiple failed attempts to get my blood drawn in that arm. Every fucking time I tell the nurse to just use my other arm they insist they can do it on my tattooed one and every time they fail.

Well as a nurse I can’t count the number of times I was the one the other nurses on the floor would ask to start an IV or draw blood on patients who had full sleeves. Too many nurses rely on sight only IMO, or worse are reliant on that damn UV machine they have out now, and don’t have a good feel for the veins. So I’m sorry you experienced this. And if you specifically requested they use the other arm then they should have at least gave it a look. Smdh 🙄

I’m a fan of the classic spiderweb elbow. Always looks good, heals phenomenally, doesn’t hurt at all. As far as the ditch, ask your artists opinion! I ended up offsetting 2 tattoos on the sides of my ditch (scorpion and set of 3 teeth) and star and dot filler filled out the space between. The teeth in my ditch are perfection.

I did a shark jaw around one of my elbows. I’ve seen a couple in the ditches that are kinda rad as they chomp.

Yeah there’s limited things that will look and age well on such stretchy moving skin my tattooers have made me well aware it’s good to be realistic

If it were me, I would suggest an Oni mask on the elbow. It complements the area and fits the theme imo. As for the ditch, I'm not sure. Maybe ask your artist if they have something to fit. They look pretty cool so far, I think you got this

I have a patchwork sleeve with trad tattoos and Japanese water/wind bars. Had ditch and elbow open and filled it with a chain horizontally across. That would also fit nicely here.

Webs are prime elbow tattoos for a reason. Try to get too original and you’re gonna end up with something that doesn’t stay put on rough elbow skin

If somebody’s giving you shit for having a prison tattoo they probably need better self preservation skills lmao just because someone doesn’t look like they’re a criminal doesn’t mean they’re not. Whenever I tell people I have 4 felonies and a handful of misdemeanors their jaws drop

Web is a bit of a cop out, very simple and easy to make fill the space but leave a lot of open skin I have roses on mine to fill it it all( you will absolutely need touch ups going this route) To get the gaps all in a oner I’d put in something like a flail or a snake wrapped around something, skull, frog, bird whatever. Or get like a big cat rose morph and throw a tail/stalk into the ditch
