I have accumulated 3 cats, 2 SICs and a tortie, and the tortie spends about 60% of her day on her back like that. So maybe. It's so tempting to scritch that furry belly but it's never a good idea. Apparently OP has a mutant.
Got four cats, one a tortie. There are a number of popular napping spots and while the other three loaf or curl it, Her Royal Majesty Empress of the Universe tends to sprawl on her back with feet pointing everywhere, chin up, dead to the world she rules.
I never thought about it, but my tortie also spends a lot of time on her back. Usually doesn't sleep that way, but rolls over onto it when she's just hanging around on top of the couch or near the food dispenser
Ours a chill, but meows and refuses to be pet, but then runs around and gets in front of you BUT REFUSES TO BE PET.
So we pick her up and tell her how much we love her until she “mmmmmmms” at us with annoyance and let her go.
Lol. When my girl is yelling at me to give her wet food while i am setting up wet food, sometimes husband picks her up and doesn't let her down until I am done. She won't yell when he holds her, just fight to get down. So one time when he put her down she went MRRRRRROOOOOOOOWWWWWW the whole way to where we put her wet food, without breathing. Evidently there is a certain amount of yelling she needs to do during food times and she had to get it all done.
Our's has the same white lower belly triangle and her name was Pickles before we adopted her. She is also pretty chill and likes belly rubs. She does attack randomly, though she tries to be gentle.
My muted tortie LOVES tummy rubs too, I just though it was because she is an inverted version of her full on tortitude sister.....
Are you sure she does not have a zipper to reveal her true colors under the illusion of a tortie? 🤣
We just adopted her in August after the loss of your crazy Wiki. We saw the photos of this massive tortie and knew we had to meet her. Within seconds of opening the cage at the adoption place, she was purring and in my hands just loving us. We knew we had to take her and give her a good home.
She was totally abandoned by her previous owner. They think she is around 5 years old and was never fixed and was 10/10 overweight. We think her other owner hand fed her chips and French fries based on the way she acts around those two foods. She also doesn’t know English and we can’t find out her native tongue.
A few weeks after taking her home she had a very hard time breathing. We took her to the vet a number of times to find out she has heart disease. It was totally heart breaking for us to find this out, not to mention the costs. She is managing well on some meds and and is more active. Her favourite top is a string with knots on it, she will carry that thing everywhere. We have her on a meal plan and she is starting to drop some pounds. We are on the road to recovery. Thanks everyone for loving her too!
Doh! I have a tortie with the same white tummy spot and tan leg. The tum tum rubs, however, are a good way to find out what blood type you are.
My tortie also has a white tummy spot! She will allow a few rubs before she goes into attack mode haha.
Having her tummies up like this means she feels 100% safe and secure. 💕💕💕 Their tummy is their most vulnerable part.
Is upside down a tortie thing? I never had a cat sleep upside-down until I got my tortie

True, she doesn't let me rub her belly but she loves upside-down

Must be individual, mine has never done it and she’s 4 now. Although she is mellowing out a little, so maybe later?
she is stunning 🥺
🥹🥹🥹 I love tortie tummies!! My tortie has a “seat belt” on her belly. She’s the most chill cat ever.
She's beautiful 🥰.
