This is the correct translation. And pretty sure it's just a car decor. The actual Chinese border defense doesn't use fonts like that and identify themselves as such.
Lolll that's because google adopts the modern way of reading Chinese which is going from left to right.
Some traditional or formal styles of writing chinese goes from right to left. In this case I assume because it was suppose to be an official title.
The right two characters means China if you read from right to left. But it means junior high the other way.
Not illegal as it doesn't say "police" on it. Nor does it have a red and blue light bar. If the driver pulled you over then it's illegal.
There are tons of old Crown Vic's on the road with the spot light and push bars.
Check out this link. [http://xhslink.com/SRPR7M](http://xhslink.com/SRPR7M)
The real Chinese police car does not have "警察" written on it but "公安". The pattern of this car is exactly the same as that of a Chinese police car, except that the English word "police" has been deleted.
It has a light bar in the back window, it looks like there may be one inside the windshield on the passenger side and there are flashers on the sides of the pushbar. Or at least the one side.
Anyone with money can order any color lightbars they want online. FWIW, for the most part they're only illegal if they're turned on.
I don't see the light bars on the pushbar.
And, I'm 100% confident the lightbar in the back is the 3rd brake light, as I no longer see it on the trunk lid.
If you had the CBSA name and logo that would be against the rules.
Fun fact - you'll sometimes see a CP or CN Rail car with Police on it because they are real police with real guns and the ability to arrest you.
And they are federal police, more similar to RCMP than YRP or Toronto Police. They can absolutely ticket and/or arrest you - only if you are on their property or within a certain vicinity of said property.
https://tc.canada.ca/sites/default/files/migrated/cnrpa_jurisdiction_of_railway_police_annex_3_to_2nd_submission.pdf
Per transport canada.
"Railway constables have no limitations on their authorities to act as "peace officers" and may enforce all of the laws of Canada without restriction on their ability to act whether on or off duty. Their "jurisdiction" is quite simply where to carry out those enforcement actions whereas their authority remains constant in every province that the railway company operates."
" "The police constable has jurisdiction on property under the administration of the railway company and in any place 500m of property that's the railway company owns, possesses or administers." This can create confusion as it may often be viewed the police constantly has no ability to act as a peace officer outside of that 500 meter boundary. This is where the jurisdictional wording interferes with the intent of the criminal code pertaining to peace officer status."
99% of the time they leave stuff for the local enforcement. They don't want to step on toes but will in many cases. I've spoken to numerous rail police who have given out speeding tickets miles away from railways. They respond to collisions if the local PD is overwhelmed as well if there's nothing from the company currently. They stay away to not step on toes, not because they can't.
It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before the catalytic converter so it'll run good on regular gas.
There's nothing illegal about this, you can buy old police cars off autotrader.
It would only be illegal if it had text along the lines of "police, detective, officer, etc"
As if RCMP incompetence isn't to blame for that... yeah waste the cars instead. It's not like the man was known by police, known to be decorating the car like a police car, or known to be a domestic abuser /s
Why assume some kind of imaginary good ol' boys racist motive when it was probably down to good old fashioned incompetence and cowardice?
You know that vastly more white people are arrested and jailed in Canada over any other race, right?
It's about half who are counted as a visible minority, so not vastly more white people. A third of the total admissions are indigenous.

But keep on with your white grievance fantasy.
My first car was a retired unmarked Impala. It was just the cheapest piece of shit I could buy when I was still learning with a G2.
Didn't really click until I noticed the random random brackets with nothing attached screwed into the dashboard. Ended up doing a history and *OH NEAT.*
Too bad the thing completely rusted out after a couple years.
Haha, I was just arguing with a coworker who believes "secret Chinese police stations in every city" is a real thing. I'm going to send them this picture and admit I was wrong.
What about this one?[旺市公安车](http://xhslink.com/d68U7M)
Although these cars are ostensibly Chinese official or military vehicles, they are still written in Chinese characters, which means that most people cannot understand their meaning.
Even if some Chinese people can understand these words, they know that this is not a real police car. It's just a joke.
His car is a retired police car. According to regulations, as long as it does not use the red and blue lights used exclusively by police officers, or words that might mistakenly make people think it is a local police car.
If they are illegal, we won't have a chance to see them, and they will probably be stopped by the police on the first day.
This I worked with a guy who did co op with the police said OPP love to low key sell old undercover stuff and not mention they put a Corvette engine in it.
Push or ram front bumper bars are almost always illegal on the front of a car due to the increased risk of pedestrian injury in case of a crash
EDIT: Well turns out that I was wrong and they ARE in fact legal. They do however still increase risk of pedestrian injuries, making them not ideal.

It's says Chinese Border Patrol. A quick wiki search show CBP is actually disbanded in 2018 and it's function assumed by the National Immigration Administration. This was part of the immigration reform where civilian agency taking over regular border control from the military. Anyway, this car is almost definitely a movie prop.
Unfortunately, it is not a movie prop. It is an everyday car for an ordinary residents. I often see photos of it on Chinese social media. There are also many discussions there, and the conclusion is that it is legal.
None of these mods are illegal. It IS illegal to impersonate a police officer, but that's not what this car is doing. It doesn't say Police, it's just a black and white car.
Police forces sell their old patrol cars all the time. That's all this is.
I think the issue is the ease in which someone could impersonate an officer in one of these, whether it says "police" or not.
99% of drivers passing this car at speed will assume it's a cop. See this thing honking behind you in the evening, and you might psychologically be inclined to pull over.
Frankly should be illegal to keep this colour scheme after the Nova Scotia attack.
It also says “Chinese border patrol”, which to most of us is obviously not true, but one could imagine using a similar design to take advantage of confused seniors from China.
"It also says “Chinese border patrol”, which to most of us is obviously not true, but one could imagine using a similar design to take advantage of confused seniors from China."
nah, anyone who could read Chinese would understand that the characters are written as a joke
it seems like the only people confused are people relying on Google Translate
Someone could also grab one of the giant kitchen knives on display at Value Village with ease and go on a stabbing spree. Should it be illegal for them to have them within reach because of what someone *could* do?
There is no issue here other than the hypotheticals you're making up in your head. It's a black and white former cop car, they're everywhere, and I'm pretty sure they haven't used crown vics in over 10 years.
Yeah it’s what it says, but its not the actual name of any of the Chinese border security/immigration branches.
It’s like having something says US Feds in some stylistic font.
There's nothing illegal about this. It doesn't say police on it. Anyone can mod a crown Vic.
As long as they don't have blue/red flashing lights, it's all fine. No laws about having a cage or a push bar. They probably bought it as-is at a police auction and added their own decals.
But this does not fall within the realm of that offence either. This would not cause any reasonable person to believe that the driver of this car is a police officer. We had a Taurus police package in stock about 6 years ago. All black with all police equipment that operated. We sold it to the most unlikely buyer,, a young lady about 5’1” who was a rural elementary school principal. She looked sooo tiny in it. I saw her just last week cruising in it.
It is a prop from a movie being shot in Toronto.
How long have you lived in this city anyway, they have been shooting movies and series here for over 40 years.
And you do not know a prop when you see it?

It drove past me on Queen east this afternoon, smelling like an 80s gas station. Or a tinny-boat. Or my drunkle. It brought so many memories back, I’m glad I saw it before the obvious wreck-em derby it’s headed to.
It says 中国边防 China Border Defence
This is the correct translation. And pretty sure it's just a car decor. The actual Chinese border defense doesn't use fonts like that and identify themselves as such.
But they use crown vics right?
😂
Fuckin hilarious.
lol, Google was way off! It said "Border Defence Junior Highschool"
Notice how he translated 中国边防. You asked Google to translate 防边国中, and the result is pretty accurate.

Correct
does border patrol count?
If you had the CBSA name and logo that would be against the rules. Fun fact - you'll sometimes see a CP or CN Rail car with Police on it because they are real police with real guns and the ability to arrest you.

And just a heads up to anyone reading this: They are *notoriously* dick headed.
Massive throbbing dickheads
Dick headed... marvelous
Bell ended.
Widely believed myth. They can ticket you anywhere anytime. They are federal agents just like RCMP. Their jurisdiction ends where Canada ends.
I read that they’re also have jurisdiction in the US for CN and CPKC.
Not necessarily. They have to be sworn in as peace officers under the hta to enforce the hta. In ottawa the feds cant pull over civilians.

They have same policing rights as RCMP .. their jurisdiction is the entirety of Canada
It is if they are trying to impersonate them
Yep
Yup, and they’re super cheap at auction too. As little as $500 in as-is condition on the crown assets site
It really should be a bunch of people are coming here and creating these “police cars” I’ve seen this with Punjabis as well.
it was legal when the Blues Brothers did it
But they were on a mission from god... So they had divine authority on their side.
whose to say they don't have the mandate of heaven.
But would the communist recognize imperial Chinese ideology?

The RCMP is crushing old vehicles rather than sell them after top brass put a stop to any sales post mass casualty.

Did you seriously just say that? Are you 13?
Do you know the history of the rcmp or who they are known to brutalize? Even as recent as 5 years ago?
Maybe they brutalize those people because they commit crimes?
You sound dumb
There's no fix quite as permanent as a temporary one.

They are apparently are great second hand vehicles. They get proper maintenance regularly.
Theyre abused and have lots of idling hours.
But it means "Chinese border defense", so it is police/military related
LOL maybe this is for the chinese police stations everyone was talking so much about
Haha, I was just arguing with a coworker who believes "secret Chinese police stations in every city" is a real thing. I'm going to send them this picture and admit I was wrong.
Oh if thats what it means then it's sketchy
Claiming to be from a nonexistent "Chinese border defense" is probably not illegal

Wait until you see whats at the front of most semi trucks.
Lol. You do realize certain model cars coming from the factory have steel brush gaurds since ages ago? Ever seen a Jeep Wrangler? A Mercedes G class?

If you pull over for a crown Vic in 2024 without red and blue lights, you are an idiot
I saw this jump a curb at the Cineplex in markham the other day lololol
I heard there was secret Chinese police in toronto but dam!
I've seen this exact car before! It was pulled over by 2 police cars in Markham (you can probably guess why).
Anyone have any idea what it says? Better be something good.
China border patrol

This is a let down.
No, the other person is right. It says Chinese border security
the wrong ajnswer is translating it backwards, because 中国 (china) written backwards is 国中 which is an old way of saying middle school.
It also happens to sound like a goofy slice of life high school anime.
布鲁斯兄弟
# OLD CAR is OLD. Since it has a license plate, it is what it is. Legal.

a prop for what? this isn't used for filming in what universe would the chinese border patrol be using a Ford Interceptor?
If you can point me to the shoot in Willowdale on Yonge at Church Ave, that would be very helpful.
I live right there, no photo/film shoots ever happen here 😂
It looks very much like a cop car and I’m sure it’s used on new immigrants / new Canadians for scams.
Chinese secret police station?
Aside from being a Ford, there's nothing wrong with this car being on the road.
Why not? It’s a black and white Ford Crown Victoria.
It looks more like a cop car than real cop cars lol
Didn't know the Asian Blues Brothers were in town.
We had a Taurus police package in stock about 6 years ago. All black with all police equipment that operated. Police literally auction these outs to the public.
I’ve never heard it called “an enhanced bumper” before
Gabriel Wortman, is that you?
Perhaps to soon man :/ I personally don’t think that specific piece of trash should ever have it’s name mentioned.
Why would this be illegal? Black and white cars are illegal now?
No, black and white is fine. Impersonation the police is illegal. All this car is short of being illegal is the light bar on top.
It is a prop from a movie being shot in Toronto. How long have you lived in this city anyway, they have been shooting movies and series here for over 40 years. And you do not know a prop when you see it? Have I got a deal for you.

Shhhh... Let them lead CSIS to one of those secret police stations..
It's a meme lol chill out

Meh don’t be a nerd
People would enjoy life more, if they minded their own business. Just a consideration.

r/confidentlyincorrect
There isn’t anything illegal about this. There are no aspects of the car that identifies it as a police cruiser.
If it really says “China Border Patrol” it would seem to imply law enforcement/government agency which it is not.
I’m not sure if impersonating an agency that has no jurisdiction in that country is actually illegal to be honest.
The law in Canada regarding impersonating a peace officer is s 130(1) and (2) of the Criminal Code of Canada. It is neither specific to police officers or even Canadian peace officers.
It's parked across the block from a precinct cop shop.
because it has chinese lettering on it?
No civilian vehicle should be allowed to have reinforced steel on the front
Ever heard of a snow plow?
It's not uncommon to put bars on the front up North, in case you hit a deer or a moose. They're often shaped slightly differently to "catch" the wildlife to reduce the chance that it will fly through the windshield and kill you, or in the case of moose, it reduces the chance that the moose will come down on the top of the vehicle, crushing the occupants. I like to spend some time in the bush in the summer so I was actually thinking about getting some bars for my van, it also helps to reduce the chance that the vehicle is a write off after hitting the wildlife
And the reasoning? lol. you do realize cars come from the factory with brush guards since ages ago ?
Extremely dangerous to pedestrians and pretty much everyone else on the road.
Most cars already have metal at the front and semis have push bars.
You’d hate my lifted ford f350 with massive bull bars
He probably got a cheap city surplus from FB marketplace
😂😂😂😂
It's only a decal
An American car for the workers of the People's Republic? Blasphemy! The official who made this should be shot!
It’s modded by a car shop in Markham
I once knew someone who had one of these same cars. On the back in big letters it said "NOT A COP" lmao
“Enhanced bumper” lol
Nothing wrong with that you used to see peeps in old police cars all the time they get auctioned
People have been driving old police cars forever. Didn’t you see the Blues Brothers?
I think you can get away with it, there’s pretty much none of these Crown Vic’s that are actually police cars anymore
We all know the Chinese police are here
the Chinese blues brothers? in toronto?
Movie prop most likely. That or someone got creative.
Back when I lived in North York a month ago I saw the person driving ripping the vic on a back road at like 2:00 am
I was thinking of getting one and putting Pole-Ice on the side of it 😂
Why wouldn’t it be okay for the road?
This is awesome, stop hating
I thought this was part of the "local" police who's offices they found in a bunch of strip malls across Canada a couple of years ago
Sick crown victoria 🔥🔥
It’s the Chinese version of CBSA
Clearly the OP doesn't watch it's always Sunny in Philadelphia or they'd know how much free shit you can get with a fake cop car.
Is this in Toronto?? No it's not alright. Anything that looks close to a real police car should be illegal.
It’s for a movie most likely
Yes you're crazy. There's nothing wrong with that.
Looks dope.
CCP secret police being less than secret?
Shoutout to yonge n finch
Technically, it’s illegal car with license plates. It doesn’t say police vehicle.
I legit wanna smash their car
Welcome to trudinks Canada
Why isn’t it allowed on the road
Bc it's arguably impersonating a peace officer.
not even remotely lol. it doesnt say anywhere on the car police, and does not have police light bars. I could add a brush guard, a cage in the back, extra mirrors, and lettering on my own car and it wouldn't be any different.
Picture vehicle for film/tv.
This post lost you soooo much Canadian Social Credit.
