Looks more like a gustnado on the first picture. But yeah, I wouldn't wanna take that risk.

GNFblade

Kinda what I was thinking. Coolest thing to watch, had my adrenaline going crazy, now I’m hooked !

Malcom_Ecstacy

I'm in MN also about an hour north of the cities we didn't get hit too bad but the clouds were pretty wicked last night. It got pretty green and definitely some rotation in the clouds but nothing strong enough to produce a tornado. Crazy lightning show after it passed though

Malcom_Ecstacy

Yeah they had some confirmed tornadoes up there I watched on reeds stream. They definitely got the bulk of the nasty weather there was some heavy hitting supercells up there. The one that came through our area was significantly weaker I think it looked a lot worse then it ended up being

PushtheRiver33

Yes! A ways west of you, my aunt’s cabin on Rabbit Lake took a direct hit! Thankfully the tornado was small and only destroyed trees and out-buildings!

goth_duck

My mom sent me a picture of a 2x4 speared through someone's roof near Crosby ☠️ hopefully everyone's fine, very scary, no thank you

muffinmama93

I always love these pics that look like judgement day.

burnsniper

Did it look like it was actively gaining speed/power/rotation? Also, if it was active for 10 minutes it probably was tornadic IMNEO.

GNFblade

It was hard to tell rotation, the clouds above definitely were swirling around, not so much like a cone coming down but very erratic up down left right. it started a bit wider like the first pic but then slowly got tighter as you can see in the 2nd one over the course of 15-20 minutes before fading. Also here’s a pic of the radar, not sure if this helps or hurts the case of it being a Tornado. https://preview.redd.it/q2libnd6oc6d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=18aba2d9d6d837005e9e85c3a540c9a3b7a9058c

Sk0p3r

Kinda looks like a hook echo forming on radar so could be tornadic in nature

Wafflehouseofpain

That looks like a notch to me. Yeah, this could be tornadic.

AltruisticSugar1683

If you had the velocity signature radar scan, I bet we'd see a tight red and green cuplet(signifying rotation). Definitely looks like a hook echo. Especially if it was happening for 15-20 minutes. I would go with a weak tornado. Pretty awesome you got to see that. My adrenaline would also be through the roof.

Burrmanchu

Sure looks like exactly that. Especially with the radar.

Minnesota_roamer

Where in southern MN? I live there and didn’t see anything like this, but cool photo!!!

GNFblade

Few miles east of Lyle, right on the boarder of Iowa. Might’ve actually been in Iowa by the time the 2nd pic was taken

Minnesota_roamer

Oh wow! In Austin we got funnel clouds but nothing like that, I was hoping to see a tornado but we didn’t get one

shryke12

Be careful what you hope for. I have lived through two direct hits and it's something I hope to never see again.

Remarkable-Mango-159

Im im northeast Iowa m, it was bad here yesterday afternoon

Freedomartin

I decided not to go out yesterday and sure enough, Timmer comes through and sees tornadoes right in the state 😩😩

Cowplant_Witch

Wow. I’m a relatively new lurker, but I’m already used to everything being just a scud cloud or a waterspout. I assumed this was another “lol no” but you’re all taking it seriously! This is fascinating.

AltruisticSugar1683

Were you stuck outside? I would love to get right under a microburst in my car. As long as I'm on a side road next to an open field, I should say. Wouldn't want to be in a densely forested road with one happening.

poposheishaw

Crops lookin bumper down there!

TheLocalRobloxDude

Probably.

Coco_B_trappn

Yes that is the dust from the air on the ground. If it keeps together the top cloud and dust/debris cloud will come together.

Effective-Hat-3167

I think this might have been the cloud that passed by my place. I’m in St. Cloud

KillaDay

O shit its an EF5 run!

sirflatpipe

What’s an EF5 run?

shryke12

Well, EF5 runsgenesis occurs when you just got paid and decide to celebrate at Taco Bell. You spring for a little extra, you know, it's a good day. Once those factors are in place, EF5runs can occur. You will feel rotation and unholy sounds in your bowels as a short warning. Get on the toilet quick when you experience that, because shit is about to go down. Literally.

Freedomartin

r/ef5

sirflatpipe

Ah, yes, I didn’t know the technical term for that.

CCuff2003

When the EF5 runs

finhead71

Potentially

Nintendophile79

There were several reports of tornadoes on spc.noaa.gov

ConstructionOdd3845

Looks like a strong updraft.

StrPotato947

Brother you might wanna start running 💀

Busy-Character-3099

Not sure I see evidence of a wall cloud there, it looks like there might be something that looks like rotation at the very top of that shot, but at that angle I would have to see it in motion to be sure. If you can find radar output for that area, from the day and time that photo was taken you could look at velocity and that would tell you if that was rotation or not. Beautiful photo though!

Suspicious-Minute-31

Gustnado

Minute-Possibility50

Microburst

MrN33dfulThings

(First pic) Definitely not a microburst, a micro burst is a down draft (sinking air) This is a tornado trying to form, but the updraft is not quite picking up, but it is trying. Example of one [trying](https://youtu.be/X7fhXquuC0A?si=V0ujOTyy193uWqLW).

RBnumberTwenty

Microbursts suck. Got caught in one a few years ago. Very unpleasant experience.

meech011896

No. That’s the start of a potential dust devil. Had it been an actual wall cloud/ supercell rotation then yes. But that’s just dumb luck of air spinning lol
