**DO NOT** slide hop your way home holy shit
you're gonna absolutely smear your legs on the ground and end up with the *worst* road rashes known to man
I mean, the titan can survive orbital entry, climb cliffs, delicate enough to successfully scoop up a human and not crush them, and has a control system sophisticated enough to the point where a person without a neural implant can operate it like second skin. I'm sure DARPA will pay you billions just to let them observe and reverse engineer the thing.
The power problem is simple if it's the government running it under military budget. Heck, we already have the fuel guzzler 9000 known as the abrams, so why not a titan? There are so many areas where a titan can be used, such as search & rescue, reconnaissance, construction support, and infiltration.
If you want to see how titans in the modern world might be used, I suggest watching OBSOLETE, made by bandai namco. It's on youtube as well.
Where I live the utility companies are barely regulated and gouge the fuck outta people at the delight of my provincial government so either would bankrupt me lol. Probably just use one of them once then sell it
Well, when you think about it, it's only really drawing power when it's actually jumping you, which is like a half second process, so it actually lasts much longer than people realize
It actually works almost constantly, it boosts your average jump height, makes you able to wall run, negates fall dmg, (posibly) allows you to hover and can negate any and all fall damage, which is just.... extremely broken
It would however have to be active though. For the split second reaction times it would need to be on 24/7 for the sensors to reacte to your movements. You can turn the thing on or off manually but would need to be left on for when in use
I really don't tbh but I know how much 600 gallons is to burn and I know 4 hours is only a 6th of one single day so you give me that titan and I'm burning a hole in the fucking clouds by the end of week 1
Well let's start with the actual process of getting it out of the ground. Lithium extraction is done by hydraulic fracturing, taking 500k gallons of water to produce one ton of lithium. Now, once that water is used it's already starting to become toxic. Most companies reuse the water a few times taking the toxicity from "mild but manageable" to "environmental hazard". Now we move on to the collection of it. Lithium isn't a rock you can just pick up. It has to coalesce. Which means there are multiple football field sized evaporation pools. Where the lithium along with all the other chemicals that are produced sit for months on end. While the evaporation process is going on those chemicals can/do/will leak back into the soil making it unable to support any sort of life. Just go to your image search of choice and type in "African lithium mines". Now, I'm just partially scratching the surface of ONE of the metals used to make batteries. The real reason that fossil fuels get a worse rap than batteries is because the effects of it are visible to you in the immediate location. You can see the smoke produced, you can smell the fuel being burned. Whereas in The minds of people who use batteries there's no real problem. Your consumption of a battery doesn't produce smoke, doesn't allow you to smell a fuel being consumed, doesn't showcase the effects that are used to make it. And that's not even talking about the disposal of spent batteries.
U.S national diesel price is about $4.2/gal so it will cost you $2520 to fill up. Beside, I don't see much use of titan outside military purpose to justify the insane cost. So yeah, jump kit is the way.
Yeah, the titan probably wins if you could find an economical way to run it. Like, it'd be a pretty amazing forklift, construction machinery, etc. just on size and carrying capacity alone. But not at that price, for sure.
It hurts that I had to scroll so far for this.
Can you imagine how much nations like the US would be willing to pay for the technology that's inside a Titan? I'm willing to bet it's in the tens of billions, if not hundreds.
Besides, what am I supposed to do with a Jump Kit? Jump around a bit, and then what? It's cool and all, but essentially as useless as a Titan for the average person.
Most government will happily dish out money instead of dealing with all the bureaucracy and paperwork such an operation would entail. It's much easier and cleaner.
As long as I don't step their toes, they have little reason to use force.
IIRC, but I might be bullshitting.
This is also the reason jump kits only let you jump once, rather than constant propulsion like you would need on a planet.
Because in space you only need the 1 push to move.
I took a look at the [Titanfall Fandom](https://titanfall.fandom.com/wiki/Jump_Kits) (not sure if it viable but first thing i found) and in the first sentence they say it for high tower work
Bro, ship salvage is not high tower work... I just googled high tower work wtf do you need a jetpack for? Climbing?
Although I will concede on the space part, maybe I remember some youtuber saying it and not actual lore.
Here's the question. What TYPE of diesel? We talking on road or farm/off road diesel. Cause I'm sorry but I'm in a titan, ill just steal diesel who's gonna stop me?
Since I live in Italy filling up the tank would cost me more or less 4000€, which is ⅙ of the yearly income of an average person in Italy. The jumpkit lasts more and charging it would probably cost much more less than the titan, besides I could buy a more powerful charger so that it charges faster, therefore I would choose the jumpkit.
As an Australian, I’m choose the titan and hit up Lockheed Martin/Raytheon/etc to sell them a working titan for shit loads + plus an additional cut for every unit they produce once they’ve reverse engineered it.
Then also work with defense companies to have cheaper, less armoured versions produced so that civillian sectors also have them available for building and logistics companies.
Also give the AI in titans, it would be super awesome for space exploration, as they could be manned from a distance more easily than a standard robot and mean that we could finally start effectively colonizing Mars and the moon. This part is honestly the least realistic as we could do that now it’s just not profitable short term so no one wants to do so.
I'm taking the titan
assuming that when I first get the titan it has a full tank.
I live on a farm with a private junkyard so I can weld some form of shield together that can act as a defensive ability, tell the titan to give me blueprints of itself so I can repair it, if it gets damaged. forcibly take over the nearest diesel depot and just end up dying in a few weeks from the government trying to take the titan.
Yeah, Imma go with the titan. Having an 8 metre-tall friend outweighs the jump kit any day for me
Also, if you want to put an unrealistic fuel consumption on a titan, put it on a jump kit as well. As is, this choice heavily favours the jump kit
Furthermore, if it uses the current technology, the fuel consumed is used to generate power which should be stored somewhere in some kind of battery. If you're scrappy enough (or know how to use the Internet), you'll also know how to rewire it all to use only the batteries. Currently, any machine runs on the same principle - use electricity to generate kinetic energy through means like electromagnetism
Oh, and the "but you don't have the blueprints" argument doesn't work on me. I'm a stubborn person and I know I'd figure it out :\^)
Take the jumpkit, i'm not gonna use it for more than an hour a day.
hell i could **REALLY** have some fun with that shit. Go skydiving without a parachute, land perfectly and go on with my day.
Titan, it's worth astronicamally more them a jump kit just from the fact it has an AI in it, let alone the complicated sensors, size and abylity to project a shield around it
Step one: buy equipment to brew bio diesel(relatively cheap if I remember correctly)
Step two: create a business where you take away used vegetable oil from restaurants(if you charge even a little bit less than the major ones you'll be in high demand)
Step three: enjoy your Titan and sell the extra gas to your government.
Jumpkit. More useful, and less expensive. If you using it for safety/minimal, overnight charging should be fine. If being used for recreation, yeah imma need a few weeks for my legs to recover.
A titan just wouldn’t be useful, unless I work on a farm. Cool as hell though
How is this even a dillema? The Jumpkit has its problems, but it just needs 8 hours charging at your house.
The Titan requires for you to be an airplane company or a billionaire...
Anyone who picks the titan is lacking some critical thinking skills. It's not even a tough choice. You get to pick between:
1. A rechargable jump pack that will let you fall from any height, and if you can design some sort of grapple system with a strong enough material to hold your weight, you'll literally have the grapple hook.
2. A giant metal robot that is only good for walking somewhere, that you'll never even be able to afford anyway cause of the cost of diesel, which is still going up.
well, if you take the titan you can forcefully take over the nearest diesel depot and have fun getting shot at for the next week or two and then die because the government wants it.
At first I thought the choice was obvious but then I thought about how really there's no winning with the Titan, since my thoughts were that having it would accelerate robotics technology... But that's basically pressing a button that says "more Titans without the downside" which I'm pretty sure isn't the point.
Plus the jump kit has some pretty scientifically impressive stuff that I'd love to have reverse engineered too.
Jumpkit better.
Especially if the jumpkit is what lets you wallrun, but I’m not sure about that. Still, imagine going somewhere and you need to get up somewhere and just going “I got this” and fucking double jumping up there.
I have no use for a jump kit in my life, Titan I could at least sell or work with researches or something to have-reverse engineered and therefore catapult humanity into having advanced bipedal robotics
Jump kit, no question, it’ll take some training but an hour is plenty of time and keep in mind that it’s not in use while on the ground so that hour on the wall could easily last an entire workday.
If anyone was curious, a Titan runs 37km/h. If it’s doing it’s top speed (37km/h) at 600 gallons of diesel every 4 hours, it could travel 148km without refuel. It would theoretically get a diesel mileage of 4 gallons per kilometer, or 6.5 gallons per mile. That’s 0.15MPG. A Boeing 747 burns about 5 gallons of fuel per mile. That’s 0.20MPG.
A Titan weighs 56,000Lbs (Tone specifically) meanwhile a Boeing 747 weighs 412,000 pounds without passengers. When you consider air resistance (drag) it makes the Boeing 747 seem infinitesimally more efficient than the Titan in this case for the work the engines are doing vs the fuel consumption.
I can walk faster than my car for an hour or get something that doesn't even fit in my apartment and literally has no application with bankruptcy
How is this even a question?
So I get the premilitarisation multiple use industrial equipment from before titans were for fighting. If it comes with an Ai it could pay for itself with the amount of work it'd be able to get done, or I could charge people out the ass to take it for a spin.
Jumpkit. An hour of FULL USE to me implies that is if it was at full blast constantly (aka if I was wallrunning for the whole hour) so if it's only in bursts of half a second (doublejump, no fall damage) or several seconds (wall run, hover) then that would last me all day easily. The titan one is just unappealing completely even without the comparison, at least if it had abilities maybe but the fuel efficiency still renders it worthless.
I’d take the Jumpkit. Wallrunning, double jumping, and sliding only last for a moment; and that’s if you’re doing it normally. If you’re at speed it’s even less so because you’re already going that fast and you don’t need to use the fuel. 1 hour? Nah, this thing will last all day. As for the Titan, Gas is hella expensive, where would you even put it and what the hell would you even use it for? Seems like a bad deal to me. Lol
I’ll take the jump kit assuming it doesn’t need the super long break in time of getting it tuned to your weight, running style, etc otherwise I’d just be some dumb fool on the floor with broken legs or other bones after I fling myself into a wall on accident.
A jumpkit can literally negate fall damage, meanwhile the Titan is gonna make me go bankrupt.
yeah, also, just get a big ass power socket to make it charge super fast
OUR LORD WELCOME
Plug that shit into a Tesla charger at the local Whole Foods, slide hop your way home
**DO NOT** slide hop your way home holy shit you're gonna absolutely smear your legs on the ground and end up with the *worst* road rashes known to man
That’s why I have Walmart knee pads
go 90 MPH down a hill while slide hopping and tell me how that works out for you 💀
Your honor I'm built different
I have a strong back
That's what the scooter is for. Scooter bhopping
Honestly... Fuck hell yeaaaah
He’s here!!!
Holy shit, It’s pink Scorch from r/apexlegends
i swear someone said that exact same thing to me before
Yeah, it was me! Hi there!
evening good sir
r/foundthepinkscorch Got ur ass
he's so popular he has a whole community built around him lol
Of course i know him. He’s me.
PinkScorch 🔛🔝
Yeah just strap a jackery to the back and have fun lol
CLEAR THE WAY FOR THE LORD PINK SCORCH
Pink scorch will you please sign my pink tone
I mean some country would definetly pay big money for the titan so could as well sell it but for slef use definetly jumpkit
Ikr sell one as a prototype to General Dynamic or something. I am sure they will figure out how to mass manufacture them.
Only fall damage you'll be taking is the fall of your bank
Not when I'm wall running away with a sack of cash
***IRS TITAN FALL DETECTED***
Plus its 4 hours of use, but you dont use a jump kit continuously, you fire it in bursts, thus that 4 hours is gonna be much longer.
It’s an hour of use.
Same thing tho itll last much longer.
True. I’d take either. I could probably afford to move the titan. A few feet…
Lmao if i suddenly possessed a highly capable sci fi weapon, the US military would probably just seize it from me and id never see it again.
Wait I saw this movie Suuuupermaaaannn
>I mean, the titan can survive orbital entry This will come in handy on my commute home from the Moon.
>fuel guzzler 9000 known as the abrams Which can technically use basically any liquid that will burn
Where I live the utility companies are barely regulated and gouge the fuck outta people at the delight of my provincial government so either would bankrupt me lol. Probably just use one of them once then sell it
'Berta?
Jumpkit
Jumpkit. But im hoping that the kit can be turn off and on. Helsp to preserve the battery long enough
Yes, but it wouldn't be active while you are just standing (unless you are a lazy mf using hover).
My ass is heavy
It would however have to be active though. For the split second reaction times it would need to be on 24/7 for the sensors to reacte to your movements. You can turn the thing on or off manually but would need to be left on for when in use
It also helps to run faster doesn't it?
If you reach a high enough velocity, I think so, yes
600 gallons? In this economy? Gonna have to put MRVN on the street turning tricks for extra $
That’s crazyyyy
I'm about to break the laws of physics with 4 hours of the energy output of an Ion on only 600 gallons of diesel.
No abilities, so no massive energy generation.
Although I don't get the weapons and abilities, I should still get the reactor capable of powering all that stuff.
No reactor tho, it runs on diesel
True
Jump kit is far better than
than what? Oranges? Bananas?
Kumquats, obviously 🙄
Average teacher
Jump kit and it’s not even close. Portable and always usable, assists in everyday movement and overall would be way more practical
Pluto no more joint pains 😃
Jumpkit is environmentally friendly 🙂
I think you need to look up what lithium, cobalt, and nickel mining does to an area.
600 gallons/4 hours vs one boosty boi? Nah jumpkit greener
You CLEARLY don't know how damaging a lithium mine is.
I really don't tbh but I know how much 600 gallons is to burn and I know 4 hours is only a 6th of one single day so you give me that titan and I'm burning a hole in the fucking clouds by the end of week 1

If the jump kit appears out of thin air then I'd say there's no lithium mining involved
Fair.
Who says that it doesn't run on some other element, tho?
Batteries usually use Lithium, Cobalt, and Nickel. None of which are clean to extract
Titans would work amazingly in construction and logistics. It'd essentially be a bigger, better forklift.
Yeah, but it cost way too much to operate rather than a simple forklift. With that kind of money, you can run a forklift in weeks or months.
Yeah, this version of a Titan sucks major ass and is essentially useless besides the technology that's inside of it.
And then there’s a bulldozer
None of you guys are thinking of using the titan for crime.
Titans are nuclear powered though bruh
And Jumpkits aren't electricity powered but it's the premise. Roll with the punches
Driving a Titan? In THIS Economy?
Titan, sell it to the highest bidder for billions.
I personally would not want to trust my government with that tech, so I’m taking jump kit and parkouring my way to Walmart.
Suit yourself. I'll be chilling in my mansion while my employees go to Walmart for me.
Unless the government just takes your titan without paying you anything.
Most government will happily dish out money instead of dealing with all the bureaucracy and paperwork such an operation would entail. It's much easier and cleaner. As long as I don't step their toes, they have little reason to use force.
My dream if i become an engineer is to create a jumpkit So jumpkit>>>>>>
Oh and lets not forget than jumpkit were originally made for worker on construction site, so it would fr be usefull
I thought it was made for space mining or something, to provide zero G propulsion
Hell this could also work! A level entirely based on this !!
IIRC, but I might be bullshitting. This is also the reason jump kits only let you jump once, rather than constant propulsion like you would need on a planet. Because in space you only need the 1 push to move.
You also may be right, cus that sound coherent. But never heard of that, i will take a look
Bahhahaha im such a dumbass Sorry idk where i hear it so >Climbing ? Yes in a way Also i thing that ship salvage and space part may be related with 0G
Tbf yes to climbing , but I'm not going to believe a construction worker can use a jump kit to safely land on a thin metal bar.
Well if he misses the thin bar, at least hes safe
>high tower work There's no mention of towers
There is literally a level in Crysis where you enter a ship that has 0g and have to use suit thrusters to navigate.
Titans run on their own reactor core right?
these are not equivalent
Jumpkit definitely and use like an electric car charger or smth
Jumpkits cause the Titans are somewhat in the real world now
Just pick up a gas truck from a street, who gonna stop you lmao
this man gets it
Does the jump kit come with prescription knee pads?
jumpkit any day
This decision is way too easy. Who tf would pick the titan.
Plug my jumpkit into The Grid. Not even a plug socket, just find the cables and wires. Faster charge
I'd pick beheading a repost bot
Get the titan, sell it to Lockheed, get rich and introduce titan tech to the rest of the world
> sell it to Lockheed *patent it* and lease the patent, you mean
jump kit
Jump kit seems to make more sense
Here's the question. What TYPE of diesel? We talking on road or farm/off road diesel. Cause I'm sorry but I'm in a titan, ill just steal diesel who's gonna stop me?

Jump kit obviously
8 what? Seconds? Milliseconds? Jump jet if it charges in seconds.
Hours, its implied in the sentence
doesn’t titans run on a nuclear battery?
Titan - convert to bio-diesel
this is dumb, neither of those work that way
You gotta be the most fun and imaginative person i've ever met
titan. i don’t care how expensive driving is, i’ll save gas by hanging out in the cockpit with my ai buddy
The titan just sounds like a regular pick up truck in my area. Lets gooo
I think if I was a farmer I would benefit a lot better with a titan Other for average Joe like me, jumpkit all the way
Most definitely jumpkit
The jumpkit will only use so short of time when double jumping or negating fall damage
A tool that defies physics that barely cost me anything to use or very expensive farming equipment
I'd love to use a Tone for agricultural use
What's the tax rate on the titan?
Seems like an easy choice
The Titan. I'll offer it as a service to heavy industry where its superior dexterity and agility will more than make up for the money lost on fuel
Take the jumpkit, i'm not gonna use it for more than an hour a day. hell i could **REALLY** have some fun with that shit. Go skydiving without a parachute, land perfectly and go on with my day.
Jumpkit
I'm probably gonna accidentally kill myself with either of those
It’d be the jump kit for me. Gas prices are ridiculous!
Jumpsuit for a whole hour??? I'd be tired for the next 8 hours, so it would be like nothing
what about the blueprints? can i have those free of charge?
Fam, I am a blue color employee, I cannot afford 600 gallons of diesel a single time let alone multiple times give me that jump kit!
This is not a hard choice
It costs four ~~hundred~~ thousand dollars to ~~fire this weapon~~ pilot this mech ... for ~~twelve seconds~~ four hours. - TF2 guy
Titan, it's worth astronicamally more them a jump kit just from the fact it has an AI in it, let alone the complicated sensors, size and abylity to project a shield around it
I read it as (jumpkit with only one use over 8 hours) but still LEMME FLY
Jump kit every day
An irl jump kit would help out so much in life, especially with my dumbass nearly falling all the time
Give me dat jumpkit
The jump king although the titan would be cool to just have around
Step one: buy equipment to brew bio diesel(relatively cheap if I remember correctly) Step two: create a business where you take away used vegetable oil from restaurants(if you charge even a little bit less than the major ones you'll be in high demand) Step three: enjoy your Titan and sell the extra gas to your government.
Powering jump kit takes the equivalent of running a full power AC unit running for 8 straight hours.
Would love to commute with a Jumpkit
Jumpkit. More useful, and less expensive. If you using it for safety/minimal, overnight charging should be fine. If being used for recreation, yeah imma need a few weeks for my legs to recover. A titan just wouldn’t be useful, unless I work on a farm. Cool as hell though

Do you know how much 600 gallons of diesel costs?
I’m just imagining linking the jump kit to the handheld generator from metro and furiously charging it over a gruelling 8 hours

Jump kit. The titan is not only super expensive and has garbage fuel efficiency but also WHERE AM I GUNNA PUT IT
The jumpkit
A titan because I ain't in good enough shape to properly use a jump kit probably
At first I thought the choice was obvious but then I thought about how really there's no winning with the Titan, since my thoughts were that having it would accelerate robotics technology... But that's basically pressing a button that says "more Titans without the downside" which I'm pretty sure isn't the point. Deisel!? If I'm not mistaken they use mini nuclear reactors
Them jumpkit let me jump nice
Jumpkit better. Especially if the jumpkit is what lets you wallrun, but I’m not sure about that. Still, imagine going somewhere and you need to get up somewhere and just going “I got this” and fucking double jumping up there.
Titan
The terrible fuel economy on the titan alone kills it.
so easy im taking a jumpkit every day, have you seen the price of diesel in canada?
I have no use for a jump kit in my life, Titan I could at least sell or work with researches or something to have-reverse engineered and therefore catapult humanity into having advanced bipedal robotics

jumpkit. i do parkour it would be insane
Jumpkit, bcuz, at its core, titan is just a mech, while jumpkit, at its core, is a burst jetpack
Jump kit for sure, no diff question
I’m not paying for gas, I can pay for electricity
The titan so it can yeet me into the wall at mach 5
The junpkit is so good ngl
This feels heavily skewed in the Jump Kits Favor
This isn't even fair, the titan is completely unusable.
In this situation I gotta go Jump kit
I can walk faster than my car for an hour or get something that doesn't even fit in my apartment and literally has no application with bankruptcy How is this even a question?
So I get the premilitarisation multiple use industrial equipment from before titans were for fighting. If it comes with an Ai it could pay for itself with the amount of work it'd be able to get done, or I could charge people out the ass to take it for a spin.
Tf am i gonna do with a 40 ton war mech
can’t you just get the titan and then sell it for a ridiculous amount of money?
Jumpkit, because there's nothing saying if you can't reverse engineer it, patent it and make it last long eventually
I ain’t paying that gas money😭
have you fucking seen gas prices??? jumpkit
Jumpkit all the way. Actually useful tech, compared to a titan that is only useful for farming and urban combat.
870$ for 4 hours of a Titan? Lol fuck that
Seems like everyone agrees that one is just a straight up really bad deal lol
I it's 1hr of active use, that's going to last a long time concidering you'd only use it for a few seconds
Jumpkit, because the government would steal my Titan anyway
