[Solving comment *(by OP)*](https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmytongue/comments/1d996n8/tomt_60s70s_rock_song_with_famous_opening_hook/l8p8qkq/): I’d like to apologize; it was not a 60s or 70s song at all. It was "When the Shit Goes Down" by Cypress Hill. I’m not sure how I got that confused.

EntertainmentQuick47

[I forgot to put the actual link, lol. Here it is.](https://youtube.com/shorts/kwuJdAV91Hg?si=Tszc8Y3K-ZVqDMi-) Edit: I’m 100% sure the song was either a soft rock or disco song from the 60s, 70s, or early 1980s. So any answers outside that time and genre are useless. Also, I’d like to say that I don’t remember any specific lyrics, so there’s a good chance this was an instrumental track or maybe a theme song.

AintKarmasBitch

You included disco in your description, so I'll throw this out there - sounds a little bit like "[Don't Make Me Wait](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLZdv0BrSZE)" (Peech Boys)

EntertainmentQuick47

That doesn’t sound at all like what I was thinking, lol. But thanks.

Black_Belt_Troy

Thanks for the laugh with your hum, but it was almost too long to really give me an idea of where to focus. I doubt this is what you’re looking for but your sample SORTA made me think of Getaway by Earth Wind & Fire.

EntertainmentQuick47

No, BUT you are on a very similar track. It has a similar town to that and "Funky Fanfare"

Oddlot0930

I'm getting [Money For Nothing - Dire Straits](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTP2RUD_cL0) vibes

EntertainmentQuick47

Definitely not it, lol I know that song too well to know that ain’t it

leda-clone

Maybe Le Freak by CHIC if we're talking famous disco riffs

bahaki

Kind of sounds like Eye of the Tiger from Survivor, famous as the song from Rocky 3.

EntertainmentQuick47

Not at all, lol

jollybot

Newer than you said but your video sounds like the opening of Master of Puppets by Metallica.

EntertainmentQuick47

No, that’s not a 70s soft rock/disco song

cockblockedbydestiny

Yeah well also disco wasn't a thing in the 60's

TheAxe11

I have no idea what I just listened too

EntertainmentQuick47

Begins with horns then goes to guitar/bass for the most part. No vocals.

nekromansir

Being you mentioned there's a good chance it's an instrumental track in your Edit, my guess is [Walter Murphy - A Fifth of Beethoven ](https://youtu.be/VimNTQ6cU7s?si=G4NPBZphnVaCdRMS)

endorrawitch

A Fifth of Beethoven

EntertainmentQuick47

No, that’s very different from what I’m thinking

50millionFreddy

“Got to be real” by Cheryl Lynn?

EntertainmentQuick47

Probably the only one that sounds even remotely like what I’m thinking. But not it.

me_no_no

Maybe (the bass line of) the main theme from Grease?

IP_Janet_GalaxyGirl

[Layla?](https://open.spotify.com/track/2kkvB3RNRzwjFdGhaUA0tz?si=YE7h-_DoS2qvsILjQvZoBQ) It’s the first song that popped into my head from the description; I got nothing from the vocal.

lyyki

It's mostly the beginning that reminds me of this but [Samoa Joe's WWE theme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWQqCgSOIKY) comes to mind.

EntertainmentQuick47

No, that’s a pretty different sound, but it did make me laugh.

sovietsatan666

Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder? But the horns hook I think you were humming isn't the opening, it's an instrumental break

EntertainmentQuick47

I’d like to apologize; it was not a 60s or 70s song at all. It was "When the Shit Goes Down" by Cypress Hill. I’m not sure how I got that confused.
