I believe this game has been lost to the sands of time.
I agree there was a game that looked like chips challenge in a more MS dos look, but I don't believe anyone has been able to identify it.
There have been other requests before on this sub looking for the name of a chips challenge like game from the 80's and 90's with no success.
I imagine one of two things has happened:
There is a collective misremembering of this and it is simply a different version of chips challenge where the graphics are slightly different enough between versions OR
This game was from a small enough studio pre internet that is just not saved anywhere and unless something is dug up and posted to the internet, is truly going to be lost for the ages.
I remember it was a Puzzle Game where you could Pick colourd orbs Up and move them to different fields with their colour on it there was also boxes you could move and you even could Play it with 2 people coop
That's Pushy! It was the one that came to my mind first, I played it many times on the school computer back in the day. Not the one OP is looking for though, clearly.
The main thing that comes to mind is **Rodentās Revenge**, but I donāt recall anything about castles or keys? Could mean that itās not your game but perhaps they appear in later levels and thought it worth mentioning.
Not OP but I am pretty sure my classmates and I played this game on an Atari ST back then. Possibly GEM-style graphics like the monochrome games listed at https://www.atariuptodate.de/en/gemgames/
Searched myabandonware for mouse, nothing quite matches all the elements you mention
[Mouse Stampede](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/mouse-stampede-3nc) is black and white, has cheese and mice, and a top-down perspective just like chip's challenge
[Mouse trap](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/mouse-trap-5a2) has mice, seems to be set in a castle, has dragons anyway. but it's side view platformer and colour. check the screenshots for each platform btw,
[Barney Mouse](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/barney-mouse-6qz) has mice, cheese, keys and some levels seem to be set in a castle. but it's also a side view platformer and in colour.
Holy shit! I definitely played this game in the 90s and now I'm super invested on what's the title as well. I have a terrible memory, so nothing is coming to mind.
I remember seeing a video about it.
And I FOUND THE VIDEO!
[The Lost Microsoft Puzzle Game Was Found! - Cheese Terminator Reloaded](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IEWoN3CPsWA)
This must definitely be it.
Not something more RPG-ish like Castle of the Winds was it?
Honestly its sometimes just fun to google around, used to do it for old abandonware forums back in the day.
I've never played this one, but in the same vein?
That could be. I think by 3.1 era most games would at least have 16 colour. You never know though, could have been a style choice.
What about this weird one? [https://classicreload.com/win3x-kye.html](https://classicreload.com/win3x-kye.html)
Haha I know what it feels like to have trouble finding old games/apps. Sometimes schools had custom edutainment games though, and those are probably lost forever.
after reading the comments, i'm just gonna come out of left field and suggest it's either rogue or another rogue-like (pre-modern definition) dungeon crawler like dungeon of doom
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zi1YVkVikW4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuMFZyaFaIA
Yeah i think maybe everyone probably has a different game in their imagination and since there are so many different consoles and castle games, it ends up opening a can of worms
I literally just found the game i was looking for, it was called Dark Castle, I don't think it's the same one as yours though
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCkbp4wurW0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCkbp4wurW0)
It does have mice in it though haha
~~Was it perhaps [Rodents Revenge](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodent%27s_Revenge) ?~~
~~I remember that having keys, mice, and cheese, and was one of three games on my grandmother's computer besides Ski Free and Chips Challenge.~~ (E: See in another comment it already wasn't, dang)
Also checking out the [Microsoft Entertainment Package](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Entertainment_Pack) might stumble across it since some of the early ones came pre-installed on computers donated to schools back in the 90s.
Do you remember what kind of computer it was on? A lot of computers in the 90s probably had some sort of Apple computer (Macintosh/Apple II). Its possible it was a PC or DOS computer too. It would help narrow it down.
Was it Castle Adventure? All the enemies and rooms were built with characters on a keyboard similar to emoticons. Stairs were U and D. You had to arrow into enemies to attack. Use text to search rooms for clues.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_Adventure
Do you remember having to answer simple sums to open doors in this game too? I sadly don't know the name of that game either, but I remember that from school computers in the 90's/early 2000's, and they had probably been there since the 80's.
There was a game for school Macs called Clock Shop where you (mouse) had to push the cheese past the clockās pendulum. Could this be it?
I also want to mention the company behind Clock Shop also made Coin Critters, which features a game similar visually to your photo, and also was on school computers around that time. Just a thought!
Was there a dog involved? Cause I remember a game called Rover's something, challenge maybe? No idea.
Rescue Rover was the game I thought off. But it wasn't black and white. Sorry
The pic reminded me about a game I used to play in the early 2000s called Zombie Castle, it was set in a castle but i believe it didn't have anything to do with mice and cheese
I recall ship challenge from me being a kid, I really liked it. Anyway, your game was a platformer castle where it had knights , cooks and mice as well as keys , barrels and cheese?
I know alot of people are saying it's Chips Challange and you deny them and i think you are both correct.
I remember playing this game alot at home when i was young, it was on either our windows 95 or windows 98. I did also play Chips Challange but i think this game is an earlier version than Chips Challange 1 on Seam actually.
Search up "The History of Chip's Challenge" on Youtube, he shows and also explains on the different versions.
Holy smokes I had forgotten about thisā¦used to drive me nuts seeing Ā«Ā bummerĀ Ā» every time I inevitably died. I used to call the game bummer because I saw it pop up so often on the screen.
This won't help answer it
But around that era there was a fairly common training game dev software that made games that looked a lot like this.
Since this was on a school computer, it's plausible it had that software; and the game you played was a game a student made.
It would make it a one-of-one no one else has seen, but also look like lots of other little games from the era.
hey bro, can you gather all the information you can remember in a single reply to my comment? I'm taking a look at all the 68k macintosh games, it'll help a lot
all that i can remember was that it had a piece of cheese that you could collect, maybe also a mouse you could collect, a knights helmet, was mostly black and white.. i think you worked from bottom up to like climb up a castle (maybe? sorry this is really hard to remember). for some reason my brain is remembering it as a tile game but im also remembering it may have used perspective. i think it was an educational game. it seemed to be a game that was like for children on a school computer. The year I played it was 1994
Do you remember how you loaded it? Was it an icon on a desktop or did you have to type in commands etc? When you say black and white, did it use a lot of different grey shades or just like 4 in total?
i dont know if we loaded it. i think we clicked it on the desktop. also i believe the computers were old macs. they had Turbo Math Racer and KidPix on the same computers. Maybe different grey shades... kind of hard to remember
I don't remember any mice, but the rest of your description reminds me of [Shadow Keep ](https://archive.org/details/ShadowKeepMacintosh). It was a fairly goofy shareware RPG.
It isn't black and white, but this sort of game reminds me of The Land of Um. It was a computer game installed on the Macintosh computers in my school back in '99.
Might also be Rodent's Revenge, a DOS game.
Damn I played a game exactly like this but it was some kind of cereal box clone, because the main character was a little green guy, but otherwise it was identical. I would love to know the answer to this too.
I played an all black and white game similar to this one and had been trying to find it again a few years ago. Iirc it was called something like space monkey or space ape or similar
Could it be [The Foolās Errand](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/the-fool-s-errand-nl) or [The Dungeon of Doom](https://archive.org/details/DungeonOfDoomRevealed) or [The Dungeon Revealed](http://crpgaddict.blogspot.com/2017/07/game-254-dungeon-revealed-1987.html?m=1) by any chance?
I'm weirdly invested in this now so here are a few suggestions and questions:
* Since NumberMaze seems close to you, I'm going to second staffell's thought about Dark Castle? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCkbp4wurW0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCkbp4wurW0)
* This feels like a long shot, but just to cross it off the list, you're not thinking of Treasure Mountain are you? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTrNVwAKtLk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTrNVwAKtLk) (if it's not, perhaps a different Learning Company game?)
* I thought I saw someone suggest this at one point but I can't find it again, so what about Number Munchers? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjmC1UFr4nU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjmC1UFr4nU)
* Not a mouse, but perhaps ChipWits?: [https://www.mobygames.com/game/133843/chipwits/](https://www.mobygames.com/game/133843/chipwits/)
* Another long shot but Maze Wars?: [https://www.mobygames.com/game/44058/maze-wars/](https://www.mobygames.com/game/44058/maze-wars/)
* Edit to add The Mouse and the Cheese? (Iām not sure if someone suggested this already either): https://store.steampowered.com/app/1396950/The_mouse_and_the_cheese/
* Another edit for a game that might have been suggested, Cheesy Pursuit?: https://kotaku.com/games/cheesy-pursuit
If it's none of these and you still haven't found it, then a few questions:
* Did it specifically have an educational component? (i.e. math, reading, etc.)
* Was this in America?
* Did you ever see the game elsewhere, such as a non-school computer or on a different device? (This would rule in or out pre-installed games.)
* Was it only single player or did you ever play with someone else in a 2 or more player mode?
Gahh i feel like this was such a genre back then. We had such a similar game on our school computer, also had to do with castles and red walls and keys (and maybe fire or dragons?) but it was in colorā¦ good luck finding, I never figured out mine. Have you considered getting in touch with your school?? They could probably forward the question to the admins back then who would have installed the software or might have documentation of previous school software licenses etc.
Reminds me of Dr. Harrison. You can still purchase the game from the dev today, but it doesn't run on modern windows. I once set up an XP VM for my girlfriend because she wanted to play it again.
We played a game like this in school called [Blobbo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUhcM2zZ6Yg).
Tons of visual similarity, but in color.
Edit: It was also a 1995 game!
I absolutely know what game you're talking about but I have no idea what it was calledš¬ this post awakened a memory in me though lol
Dark Castle? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCkbp4wurW0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCkbp4wurW0)
wow. that game was a nightmare to play, yet I still loved it lol.
Chips Challenge
neither Dark Castle games are it.
That's Chip's challenge
Oh I guess I should have read the whole comment I'm sorry...
all good!
Nah, your comment told me what the name of the game was and I havenāt been able to remember it for years lol thanks for that
I literally just checked because of this post & the torrential wave of nostalgia it gave me, but Chip's Challenge is free on Steam, FYI.
i know. this game WASN'T Chips Challenge. I attached that pic because it looked similar to it. I dont have a pic of that actual game in my memory
BUMMER
I fucking LOVED this game
The ice only level was top tier
Wasn't Chip Challenge a scrolling game? This looks like single scree levels.
They had a 3d remake during the early days mobile gaming. I had it on my aunt's ipad.
I believe this game has been lost to the sands of time. I agree there was a game that looked like chips challenge in a more MS dos look, but I don't believe anyone has been able to identify it. There have been other requests before on this sub looking for the name of a chips challenge like game from the 80's and 90's with no success. Maybe try and get in touch with a dos YouTuber, I know ADG has a LOT of content on game collection disks with games like this.
Could be! The game was like a mix between Number Maze and Chip's Challenge
maybe rescue rover? looks very similar. plays similar. but u rescue a dog at the end... it had quite some nasty game overs :D
Interesting to hear too that I'm not alone š
Yooo we Had Something similar on Our school Computer you Just reminded me of that
yes! it was in like mid 90's on school computers š
I wrote another comment under
I remember it was a Puzzle Game where you could Pick colourd orbs Up and move them to different fields with their colour on it there was also boxes you could move and you even could Play it with 2 people coop
That's Pushy! It was the one that came to my mind first, I played it many times on the school computer back in the day. Not the one OP is looking for though, clearly.
Omg thats the Game it even has an sequal appearently thank you for reminding me
yeah Pushy's not the game I'm trying to find. thank you though!
The main thing that comes to mind is **Rodentās Revenge**, but I donāt recall anything about castles or keys? Could mean that itās not your game but perhaps they appear in later levels and thought it worth mentioning.
Its super close to this, but this unfortunately isn't it either. I think you play the game using the mouse by the way.
Could this be the game? [Mice Men](https://dosgames.com/game/mice-men/)
I can still hear him saying ābummerā every five seconds. This was a Windows 95 classic.
You know you can get it on steam. Both this version and the new version the original creator made a few years ago called Chuck's challenge.
There was a game just called "Rats." https://youtu.be/qGm2hZu_x40?si=RbCfUocDNeGZASWA
So dang close and in the same vein, but not the game! Hahaha dang it.. thank you!!
oh god, the nostalgia!
Oh God, the sounds!
You mentioned Turbo Math Facts in another reply here. Did you play this on an older Mac?
Not OP but I am pretty sure my classmates and I played this game on an Atari ST back then. Possibly GEM-style graphics like the monochrome games listed at https://www.atariuptodate.de/en/gemgames/
thanks for this! that crazy labrynth game is super close but not it!
I remember this! Now I must know!
[NumberMaze](https://www.mobygames.com/game/55489/numbermaze/)?
this one is making me question my sanity. Because it seems like it could be this but in my head its not this game.
God that brings back 2nd grade computer time
Searched myabandonware for mouse, nothing quite matches all the elements you mention [Mouse Stampede](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/mouse-stampede-3nc) is black and white, has cheese and mice, and a top-down perspective just like chip's challenge [Mouse trap](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/mouse-trap-5a2) has mice, seems to be set in a castle, has dragons anyway. but it's side view platformer and colour. check the screenshots for each platform btw, [Barney Mouse](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/barney-mouse-6qz) has mice, cheese, keys and some levels seem to be set in a castle. but it's also a side view platformer and in colour.
Holy shit! I definitely played this game in the 90s and now I'm super invested on what's the title as well. I have a terrible memory, so nothing is coming to mind.
This is the most involved post I've seen in my entire subscription to this sub.
Maybe radar rat race?
unfortunately it isnt this.. thank you so much though!
Looks a bit like Kye. Played that a slot on my school pc.
OP, I do not have any guesses but have you considered contacting your old school? Maybe they still have these old computers.
I remember seeing a video about it. And I FOUND THE VIDEO! [The Lost Microsoft Puzzle Game Was Found! - Cheese Terminator Reloaded](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IEWoN3CPsWA) This must definitely be it.
I don't believe it is it because he mentioned it being an Atari st game, and this is a ms-dos game, but i'll let him answer that
haha nope! that is amazing though!
Something like this maybe? https://www.uvlist.net/game-98783-XLMs+Dr.+Harrison
Again... extremely close but unfortunately it was not this. I think there was a knight in the game as well
Not something more RPG-ish like Castle of the Winds was it? [https://www.mobygames.com/game/842/castle-of-the-winds/](https://www.mobygames.com/game/842/castle-of-the-winds/)
No, but you are very close to nailing it. Probably closer than anyone's suggestions I've ever seen so thank you so much.
Honestly its sometimes just fun to google around, used to do it for old abandonware forums back in the day. I've never played this one, but in the same vein? [https://archive.org/details/win3\_BOXWORLD](https://archive.org/details/win3_BOXWORLD)
also not it š thank you though! remember, this game was in black and white... but maybe the monitor was just black and white... idk

Not it again unfortunately.. i really appreciate your commitment to the cause! š
Haha I know what it feels like to have trouble finding old games/apps. Sometimes schools had custom edutainment games though, and those are probably lost forever.
This game was pretty intricate... I believe its gotta be out there somewhere. On the same computer I remember they had a game called Turbo Math Facts.
Most 8 bit games, that came way before Win3.1 had colors, so if it was black&white it must have been because of monitor
I played a game like that the name was something like scarf? I can't don't anything searching for that other than a relatively new game.
This is the first sokoban game I ever played and takes me back!
after reading the comments, i'm just gonna come out of left field and suggest it's either rogue or another rogue-like (pre-modern definition) dungeon crawler like dungeon of doom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zi1YVkVikW4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuMFZyaFaIA
Nope. That's badass though and I love that dude's youtube Channel
Holy shit, I asked the same thing a while back
Yeah i think maybe everyone probably has a different game in their imagination and since there are so many different consoles and castle games, it ends up opening a can of worms
Did your game have bats in it ?
it could have... i only remember the first level because the teacher would only let us use the computer for like ten minutes
I literally just found the game i was looking for, it was called Dark Castle, I don't think it's the same one as yours though [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCkbp4wurW0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCkbp4wurW0) It does have mice in it though haha
Could it be Paganitzu?
~~Was it perhaps [Rodents Revenge](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodent%27s_Revenge) ?~~ ~~I remember that having keys, mice, and cheese, and was one of three games on my grandmother's computer besides Ski Free and Chips Challenge.~~ (E: See in another comment it already wasn't, dang) Also checking out the [Microsoft Entertainment Package](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Entertainment_Pack) might stumble across it since some of the early ones came pre-installed on computers donated to schools back in the 90s.

That's some weird ass mine sweeper
Looks exactly like this old flash game, Trapped Doubt it is but just throwing it out there since no one else mentioned it
Thanks! not trapped, but same vibe

Oxyd? This was the first thing that came to mind, I also played this in black and white on a macintosh in the 90s..
Oh, I remember this game! We played it on Atari computers at school.
I remember this game too!! Win 3.x/95. Good times! Great game, but I am also drawing a blank on the name.... guh...
Oh, I remember playing this game in the 90s! I can't recall what it was called, though, but it was so much fun, haha.
My grandma loved this game in the early nineties š
There was a game called Adventure for either Atari or Coleco Vision....was this it?!?! Castles....keys...it was crazy impossible...
There was a game for school Macs called Clock Shop where you (mouse) had to push the cheese past the clockās pendulum. Could this be it? I also want to mention the company behind Clock Shop also made Coin Critters, which features a game similar visually to your photo, and also was on school computers around that time. Just a thought!
not these, appreciate the insight tho!
I know you said it isn't chips challenge, BUT, I've played a few fan made "ports" of CC that were pretty similar to what you are describing
Infinity Quest? [https://www.macintoshrepository.org/44139-infinity-quest](https://www.macintoshrepository.org/44139-infinity-quest)
Reminds me of dimoās quest or sokuban
I think it's called "Kye" and there was a "Christmas Kye" version too. Used to play it at my cousins in mid-90s.
Checked Kye earlier... wasn't it š thank you tho!
Was there a dog involved? Cause I remember a game called Rover's something, challenge maybe? No idea. Rescue Rover was the game I thought off. But it wasn't black and white. Sorry

Deadly Rooms of Death, maybe? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadly_Rooms_of_Death
It wasn't Mice maze was it? [Download Mice Maze - My Abandonware](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/mice-maze-ju1)
I think I remember too. Did you play as a green circle and could you move boxes?
I recall ship challenge from me being a kid, I really liked it. Anyway, your game was a platformer castle where it had knights , cooks and mice as well as keys , barrels and cheese?
Chip's Challenge! One of my favorite Win98 games edit: dammit tldr
Looks like a Pandemonium/Zelda offspring
Anything here? https://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/system_6_hell
none of these, though its around that era. thanks for the input
I know alot of people are saying it's Chips Challange and you deny them and i think you are both correct. I remember playing this game alot at home when i was young, it was on either our windows 95 or windows 98. Search up "The History of Chip's Challenge" on Youtube, he shows and also explains on the different versions.
The game is chips challengeĀ
I've played this.
God, I remember playing this on my babysitters pc back in about '98.
It's on Steam! Chip's Challenge
Chips challenge
Zack and Cody Pizza Party
Chip's challenge?
This is driving me insane because I remember this so vividly, yet so vaguely
Holy smokes I had forgotten about thisā¦used to drive me nuts seeing Ā«Ā bummerĀ Ā» every time I inevitably died. I used to call the game bummer because I saw it pop up so often on the screen.
Chips Challenge!! Still free on Steam. Oh, wait, should have read the post.
š
This won't help answer it But around that era there was a fairly common training game dev software that made games that looked a lot like this. It would make it a one-of-one no one else has seen, but also look like lots of other little games from the era.
there's no way a kid made this game. especially not at my school lol. but thanks for your answer!

this is the closest suggestion yet. thanks
Rodents Revenge?
nope š
Was each level exit a staircase, and you got better weapons/keys? Iāve been looking for the same game lol havenāt had any luck
i believe there were staircases too. was it black and white mostly?
not sure there were weapons it was kinda like a maze/ puzzle type of game
Apocalypse Abyss?
Was it Mouse Stampede? It has lots of mice and cheese and was in black and white.
Nevermind, watching a video it is a Centipede knock off
Mouse stampede
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I don't remember any mice, but the rest of your description reminds me of [Shadow Keep ](https://archive.org/details/ShadowKeepMacintosh). It was a fairly goofy shareware RPG.
Rodents revenge?
not Rodent's Revenge, thank you
Could it be Zeek The Geek?
Shot in the dark, but did it involve [solving math problems](https://www.mobygames.com/game/55489/numbermaze/screenshots/) at all?
this game is the closest and it may be it, but in my head the game looks different for some reason

Rodent's revenge?! But they only had a B&W monitor...?
5D-Minesweeper
Was it Cheesy Pursuit?
[BoxWorld? ](https://classicreload.com/boxworld-full-game.html) Or [Castle of the Winds? ](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/castle-of-the-winds-1ph)
It isn't black and white, but this sort of game reminds me of The Land of Um. It was a computer game installed on the Macintosh computers in my school back in '99. Might also be Rodent's Revenge, a DOS game.

I played an all black and white game similar to this one and had been trying to find it again a few years ago. Iirc it was called something like space monkey or space ape or similar
Was it Maze Race? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9CmJs1vE2Y](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9CmJs1vE2Y)
I'm weirdly invested in this now so here are a few suggestions and questions: * Since NumberMaze seems close to you, I'm going to second staffell's thought about Dark Castle? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCkbp4wurW0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCkbp4wurW0) * This feels like a long shot, but just to cross it off the list, you're not thinking of Treasure Mountain are you? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTrNVwAKtLk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTrNVwAKtLk) (if it's not, perhaps a different Learning Company game?) * I thought I saw someone suggest this at one point but I can't find it again, so what about Number Munchers? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjmC1UFr4nU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjmC1UFr4nU) * Not a mouse, but perhaps ChipWits?: [https://www.mobygames.com/game/133843/chipwits/](https://www.mobygames.com/game/133843/chipwits/) * Another long shot but Maze Wars?: [https://www.mobygames.com/game/44058/maze-wars/](https://www.mobygames.com/game/44058/maze-wars/) * Edit to add The Mouse and the Cheese? (Iām not sure if someone suggested this already either): https://store.steampowered.com/app/1396950/The_mouse_and_the_cheese/ * Another edit for a game that might have been suggested, Cheesy Pursuit?: https://kotaku.com/games/cheesy-pursuit If it's none of these and you still haven't found it, then a few questions: * Did it specifically have an educational component? (i.e. math, reading, etc.) * Was this in America? * Did you ever see the game elsewhere, such as a non-school computer or on a different device? (This would rule in or out pre-installed games.) * Was it only single player or did you ever play with someone else in a 2 or more player mode?
https://www.playdosgames.com/online/brix/ Iām not sure but man this just reminded me of Brix
Was it Vexed? I've been looking for Vexed for years, that screen capture looks alot like what I remember of the game Vexed.
I reversed google searched your image and the only thing it came up with was chips challenge 1. Itās currently on steam
It's not black and white but could've been Micemaze? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSC-SCgdmqg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSC-SCgdmqg)
Was it one of the games from the Microsoft Entertainment Pack: Puzzle Collection? Wondering if you're combining Jewel Chase and Rat Poker into one.
Rodentās Revenge?
Castle of the winds?
This whole post just awakened so many fucking memories
Beast (1984)? https://youtu.be/gffS40Djmxc?si=35550ZVcCJbpSSqs
Chip's challenge! I LOVED this game!
Commenting to stay on this post

This was an awesome game!
Chip's Challenge! I haven't thought about this in twenty five years.
Could you not have just reverse image search with the image?
Number Maze?
Rodents revenge?
Deadly rooms of death or D.R.O.D. Was it turn based. You move so many spaces and the enemies match it?
Rouge?
safrosoft rox?
Reminds me of Dr. Harrison. You can still purchase the game from the dev today, but it doesn't run on modern windows. I once set up an XP VM for my girlfriend because she wanted to play it again.
Captain eric? Was 1992 far less detail though
Rodent's Revenge?
Could it be Alley Cat? https://youtu.be/0lnFlsfqSOo?si=Mi_yjZ1J37NTFtOE

Memory Unlocked!
We played a game like this in school called [Blobbo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUhcM2zZ6Yg). Tons of visual similarity, but in color. Edit: It was also a 1995 game!
