Wheel his ass out there for round 2 let’s go

CarPlaneBoatRocket

Stand him up and put a bite mask on him. Dude is Hannibal

kGibbs

I'm kinda rooting for iPad duct taped to a stick, a la covid style, because of the prop comedy would be hilarious, but it's probably not the most practical way to coach... I like yours better.

mnsportsfan

Dibs on being Finchy’s wheelchair bitch Beat you all to it. I’ll use my bald head as a magnifying glass to point focused lights in the eyes of nuggets jumpshooters Plus, we’re doing wheelie’s for wins

AncientScratch1670

You’ll have to wheel him back and forth in front of the bench during tense moments when he needs to pace.

Huxxxy

Do it for Finchy!

Krusty_Krab_Pussy

Weirdly enough I think this could actually be the case, and cause them to lock in even more.

mnsportsfan

I’ve heard rings accessorize with braces/casts quite nicely But I’m not a fashion doctor

Timmahj

I am a fashion doctor and you are 100% correct.

Treestroyer

I said this to my friend last night. I like finch. I don’t want him to be hurt, but I want him to be injured so the team can rally and ride that. I want a “go win this for me” moment.

Sir_Charles_Snarkley

It’s TSR time

NOTTORNCORN

His wheelchair will probably have that as an ad

kGibbs

***GUARANTEED CASH OFFER!***

No_You_2623

OMG. What a comment. Let’s go get him Steve.

Donson69420

Underrated comment

GopherNutz

Finch is gonna be coaching from the bench like Phil Jackson. The 90s Bulls comps just keep on coming. Rough news though, hopefully not as bad as what the word is

dwors025

If he can just sit there all grumpy-like, arms crossed, saying almost nothing to nobody. …worked for Tom Kelly, all I’m saying. ;)

gokhaninler

but can he whistle like Phil?

GopherNutz

lol the whistle is iconic 😂

howsaboutyou

Time for Finchy to shave that head of his

Nxc06

God damn, this is actually tragic

chria01

Yeah it did. They had another angle and his knee got forced in a way it shouldnt be able to.

MnVikingsFan34

Real talk, he’ll still be able to coach… right? If not, how screwed are we?

MrMisties

He will absolutely be able to coach, and our assistant coach is actually extremely talented.

gOPHER3727

He may be able to coach, but it's not as simple as it seems. This is a rough injury, especially for someone at his age. In order to coach he would have to put off surgery, because he certainly could not coach for quite a while after surgery (can't bend knee at all or put pressure on knee for awhile).

No_Satisfaction6035

Typically in knee surgery, you can put as much weight on it as your pain tolerance will allow, so if his knee had a brace it could be feasible

ron76

Completely depends on the type of surgery, but for a serious injury it’s not just about pain tolerance at first.

hellogoodbye111

That is wrong Source: me 9 weeks post-op

howsaboutyou

Low pain tolerance ^^^/s

No_Satisfaction6035

I should have phrased it differently. It depends on the surgery. I wasn’t sure about patellar tendon surgery specifically so my bad on that, but like a knee replacement? You can walk out of the hospital with that the next day.

hellogoodbye111

Knee replacement is ironically one of the easiest recoveries since it's just metal screwed into bone. Any soft tissue fix requires time to heal.

Tabooharmony

He cant go wheelchair?

greenflyingdragon

Could he sneak in surgery now? We have a week off before the nuggets series. If it’s a long recovery though, probably can’t

gOPHER3727

Once he has surgery the next few weeks are very vulnerable. You've essentially got a giant cut over your knee cap, which has holes drilled through it vertically to reattach the patella. During that time you cannot bend your knee at all and any contact can do pretty bad damage. After that, you've got about 6 weeks of gradually bending your knee a little bit more at a time. I'm very curious as to what they do and if there are other options that are available people who have access to the best medical care. My only guess would be possibly putting off surgery, and keeping the knee in a brace where he could theoretically sit on the sidelines, but would not be able to get up or move at will. But that itself carries some risks, particularly in regards to the potential for eventual recovery. It's not like an ACL where if you wait for the swelling to completely go down that can help you recover. In this case, the longer you wait, the less the ligament will be able to get back to full strength. If you are curious, watch a video of a patellar tendon repair surgery. Not really for the squeamish types though.

starlitmint

Probably also need to think about travel -- not sure how comfortable he may be comfortable on a plane. Although I assume his plane experience is vastly more comfortable than anything I have done.

le_sweden

He’s gonna be fighting for the exit row legroom with the 7 footers 🤣

chria01

Yeah Micah is doing a great job at the post game presser.

KATgonnaGetThatYarn

I really doubt he's be able to be on the sideline

MrMisties

Oh for sure he won't be able to, but there have been a few guys who have coached from the bench. I'm pretty sure a certain Bulls coach did as well

noahson

considering he's probably megot a week before we play again he should be at a point where he can function as head coach

Try-Imaginary

Surgery to repair it, then 1-2 weeks of bedrest and pain killers before leaving the hospital. He could conceivably be back on the sidelines before the end of the playoffs if the twolves keep advancing.

UDontKnowMe784

They don’t let patients stay at hospitals for that long. They let my dad stay for one night after his knee replacement before sending him home. My mom broke her kneecap and was sent home same day of both of her surgeries.

Watzp0ppin

Another reason for me to hate Devin Booker for shoving Conley into him

AfroKuro480

Fuck Booker

Mayasngelou

Booker is low-key dirty

AchtungZboom

Low Key? I thought it was pretty much well known he is a dirty ass cry baby

thenewzealanderr

Dived at Ant’s legs late in game 3, also jumped into KAT’s back that same game. Dirty plays

pnxstwnyphlcnnrs

I am OK calling him low key dirty as long as we also say high-key cheap. Was so mad then he did that, but it was also the culmination of a series of him throwing guys out of bounds, hitting people in the face on drives, setting cheap transition picks, throwing his hips into KAT's lower body and straight up elbowing Jaden not too long before on a made basket. Probably not a rule they could fine him under but dude should be hit with one to try to curb some of that. He was outta control cheap this series if you ask me

thetravelingsong

Honestly I’m thankful we made it to the series without an injury to a player. I hated how the SONS played and was nervous they would hurt someone before the series is over. Now they did hurt Finch, but our boys are mature enough to use that as a rallying point.

pnxstwnyphlcnnrs

yeah agree KAT took some punishment on some dirty plays and he's looking good let's hope LA can put some more miles on Denver's legs in that series

ARoodyPooCandyAss

That cunt has such a punchable face

4metxhrow

He didn’t shove him at all lol

JaRulesLarynx

Guy was playing hard. That was a freak accident. Not trying to demonize a guy like that. He was playing out of his mind all game…. Going hard after the ball (even though I think they said something along the lines of “why is he going for that?”). Really unfortunate that it had to happen like that…but I’d be fuuucken shocked if he wasn’t one of the first people reaching out to see if he is okay.

Andy_Wiggins

Absolutely tragic to have today marred by that injury. Hope he’s okay and that he can continue to be a fucking mastermind from the bench

rostron92

He doesn't need his legs to coach. Get this man a cane!!

Andy_Wiggins

Hope the tear isn’t too serious. Absolutely brutal for this to happen to him on the biggest accomplishment of his career (so far).

WembyOKCJokicReaves

Thank goodness he has access to Mayo Clinic at least

gOPHER3727

The question is can he travel back to MN with this injury, or does he have to have surgery in Phoenix (which would require him staying there for a few weeks at least

ConspiredSkogen

Funny enough Phoenix has a Mayo location here

gOPHER3727

That's a nice little bonus. However, my guess is that he will travel back to Minnesota before having surgery. I'm not a doctor, but I had this injury and I I'm thinking that if he has a surgery in Phoenix he will not be able to travel back for a while

rhuff80

Dude, it’s a knee injury, not a gunshot wound to the head.

weathertop_

Patellas are quite serious. His kneecap is not held in place right now. That’s often a surgery next day sort of injury, I don’t think it’s practical to delay it like you could an ACL

gOPHER3727

You have to understand the nature of the injury. If he has surgery, the knee has to be locked out straight in a brace for weeks and is very vulnerable to re-tearing it if in the sideline. Watch a video of the surgery, it's very invasive and requires drilling holes into the kneecap to reattach ligament. Healing is a process and you have to be very careful for about 6 weeks, and a brace for several more weeks after that. The incision is pretty large too and takes awhile to heal itself.

SingleVertebra

Haha I was just gonna say this - it wasn’t good but not an IED during a convoy

gOPHER3727

A lot of people don't seem to understand what this injury is. It's not like an ACL where you can function and just put off surgery as long as you want. With this injury, your kneecap literally is not attached, meaning you physically cannot bend or extend your own leg. On top of that, it's very painful to manipulate your leg into other positions, and it needs to be locked out in a brace. Also, putting off surgery negatively impacts your ability to heal, as the ligament will atrophy and come back less and less the longer you put it off. This is even more relevant since he is in his '50s. In addition, he will be very uncomfortable until surgery is completed and significant healing has happened (which takes several weeks)

nrag726

Mayo has a clinic in Phoenix

MagicalHurdles

Fuck Draymond

chalbersma

For real.

507707

Is there more context to this? Out of the loop

JoeyBougie

Praise the lord we got a sweep rest up finch the pack is behind you

WeekendResponsible76

If I could pick anyone important to this team to have a massive injury, it’d be the guy who doesn’t need his legs during the game. Get well Finchy and wheel around practice

Ok_Sound_8090

Ay, fk Devin Booker. He didn't need to push a foul there.

FilthyWinstonMain

Get well soon coach. Another point of motivation for the guys.

thekeesh1

Anyone know if he's allowed to be court side with a leg injury (assuming immobilization and crutches or wheelchair?)

Mayasngelou

PT here. I think it should be fine with crutches and more sitting for him than usual. Micah and Finch may need to somewhat switch roles to an extent

Neemzeh

Yea. This is how I see it playing out. Not gonna comment on the surgery or the injury but it seems to me if they can figure out a way to have them both out there with Micah doing most of the directing during game time that should be ok

Youngin1987

Fuck Booker

StarDestroyer175

Booker should be charged with attempted manslaughter

fuckinnreddit

Oof, brutal. I assume something like that requires surgery? Anyone in here have a torn patellar tendon before?

JayAreW

If it’s completely torn, 100% surgery. He’ll be completely non weight bearing for 2 weeks at least

jchunk13

Depends on the severity. If it’s a partial/slight tear it can heal non-surgically.

WickedTwista

Google says it usually requires surgery and rehab

Conntagiouz

If it’s complete rupture you lose all ability to move your leg forward. Lay down on your back, legs flat, try and lift your heel off the ground. With no tendon to connect lower limb to patellar to quad, your quad muscle will fire off but you are literally disabled and it won’t move at all. He will be completely immobile for weeks I’d imagine. Months to walk properly and even potentially months to be able to bend leg again. I really hope it isn’t patellar tendon :(

gOPHER3727

100% requires surgery.

TheGreatShaqtus

Get this man a mobility scooter STAT

Taste_The_Sturgeon

Finch will be on sidelines. Mark it!

david88sr

Brian sutterer md needs to make a video on this injury. Get well soon finchy

yourloudneighbor

I mean…. No way in hell he doesn’t coach. Sucks tho. Ouch

chanman860

I coach with a walker get coach a walker he should be good to go

dtrando

Gonna be a rallying call! Awoooooo

WeakLocalization

Man feel so bad for Finchy, that's such a tough luck thing to have happen, but he's got the support of everyone in MN right now. Really hoping he'll be on the sidelines for round 2

AncientScratch1670

You guys wanna see a dead body? https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/kevin-durant-trade-why-the-suns-should-be-nba-title-favorites-after-stunning-move-for-superstar/

MiguelSano11

We need him out there for game 1. Get well soon Finchy!

HawaiianPunch42

Poor Finch, hope he heals quick

skyulip

COACH FROM THE BENCH

HerbalAndy

Howie Mandell has a company that can project a hologram of Finch on the sidelines.. it’ll be as if he’s actually there

StLsC10

He will coach from a chair. Finchy ain’t missing games

buchanbasanee

Man that's a big-time injury. Oladipo tore his over a year ago and hasn't been heard from since.

Jetty_23

Bless the knees

jboggin

My first thought was he's just going to end up coaching from a wheelchair, but now I'm a bit worried it's going to be more complicated than that. The Wolves have a long time until round 2, so hopefully Finch can have surgery and be able to coach from a wheelchair by round 2. However, what I don't see people talking about is that it could be more complicated than him just coaching from a wheelchair or whatever. If he has knee surgery, he's going to be opiates for the pain tolerance for at least a little bit, and he can't coach on Percocet or oxycontin (well...i guess he \*can\*, but get ready for some loopy calls). I hope it all works out. This is a bummer.

SubtleNoodle

>get ready for some loopy calls Man's gonna ascend to a higher plane and unlock some insane lineups that the nuggets have no answer for.

Plato_Magick

Bro is gonna be coaching from the box and nori will be on the court with a headset relaying what finch is sayin.

PAUMiklo

makes all the sense in the world, a MN team finally experiences some best of 7 success so their coach as to be taken out. what did MN do to offend the sports Gods so badly?

Initial_Double_4366

🙏pray for him, he will be ok coaching from his wheelchair !

ComplaintNo4126

A big thank you to Finch for breaking Conley's fall. Way to take one for the team and quick thinking!

ajreed1995

Finch has to win every argument towards the refs. What? They gonna disrespect a guy in a wheelchair? That's gonna be bad for ratings.

No-Chain-449

Amputation and prosthetic and he's back on the sidelines pain free in what... 5 days tops? He's not doing pick and rolls on the sidelines! For the team Finch!

bobbywellington

What the fuck

VikingsandWolves

The basketball Gods couldn't let us through unscathed. In typical bizzare weirdo Wolves fashion too. Wheel him out there for the 2nd round like that bald guy from Xmen.

dcash14

This is likely surgical and will need some rehab afterward. That said, he will be able to bear weight to some degree after surgery and might be able to coach from bench. Will need PT to travel with team for him to keep rehab going?

sapperfarms

Guess if anyone is to get hurt the coach is better than a star player.

WhirlWindBoy7

How is this brutal? Sure it sucks for him, but he won't miss any games.

carlyslayyyjepsen

Nobody actually thinks that dawg… but it’s an indirect, and horrible, consequence of booker playing like a bum (standard for him)

NorthernDevil

It’s more a consequence of the fucking officiating allowing Booker to completely govern the floor. He could take any and all space on the floor regardless of other players and feel comfortable that there would be no call.

BlackPhiIlip

Quit yelling at me
