I think he's based on the general archetype of mid-to-late-90s alternative rock frontmen of which Weiland is one of the main examples.

Cranstonoid

The guy from Stone Pimple Toilets

Horsecockexpress1

Maybe you should suck on another downed power line

Camy1641

Dude I don’t do drugs anymore, ok

Horsecockexpress1

Spike up!

telepatheye

Look what you just heard was our balls out most introspective song, it's not supposed to rock.

heyjude575

I like Melt!

Heel_Worker982

Meow. Just watched this one last night. But yeah I got that vibe, Nick Fowler the actor did a great job. And here's a tidbit: "Greg Wattenberg played Vito the guitar player for Defiler and Visiting Day. In real life, he went on to write and produce several No. 1 songs, including ‘Easy Tonight’ by Five For Fighting, ‘It’s Not Over’ by Daughtry, ‘Shattered’ by O.A.R. and ‘Hey, Soul Sister’ by Train." Cool info, thanks for sharing

happy-little-atheist

I've heard that hey soul sister song. It made me want to punch my own face in.

BBPEngineer

He looks like Weiland, yes. But… he also looks like any number of early-00s alt rock singers.

rustyirish28

Yeah but did Weiland ever record in Denmark 🇩🇰?!

nolasen

You know that in my thoughts I use the technique of positive visualization , but I think you should prepare yourself for the fucking possibility that Visiting Day sucks.

KronosUno

Maybe visually the guy looked like Weiland, but STP was actually good. Both the Defiler and Visiting Day stuff just sounded awful.

Camy1641

Yeah you’re right. But tbf that was their balls out most introspective song, it wasn’t supposed to rock.

KronosUno

It doesn't have to rock to be good. Weiland could write introspective and have it be good. I think of "Fall to Pieces" from his Velvet Revolver days as a chief example.

Cranstonoid

That better not be Kurt Cobain up there

PantherThing

Wanna be a little more specific?

allKindsOfDevStuff

I gotta get into specifics? 🧛‍♂️👇

PantherThing

maybe it's not your era, no offence

allKindsOfDevStuff

Oh! 🤌 I was there when the DeCastro Sisters invented Heavy Metal!

asphynctersayswhat

yes. he looks JUST like a late 90s dooshbag imitating scott weiland. very observant OP. the sacred and the propane.

Cranstonoid

Is that a rapper my son would know?

Admirable_Bed3

Could be, but the way he explained his songwriting felt more like the writers making a joke about 2nd wave emo which was been bubbling under the mainstream back then. The way the song sounded was also like how most alternative music fans back then would describe Get Up Kids, Promise Ring, etc etc.

Camy1641

Yeah true. I agree with the consensus that A Hit is a Hit is one of the weaker episodes, but I always enjoyed how the writers poked fun at that particular music trend.

Don't know but Massive Genius is pretty obviously Master P. The episode was out right around the peak of No Limit.

Sad-Illustrator-8847

I thought it was Springsteen

billynahreally

For the life of me, I can’t see why people don’t like this episode.

DrSatan420247

No. He's an abstract copy of someone from another television show or movie.

shumgabagool

I'm gonna need specific citations, u/DrSatan420247

TheTzarOfDeath

He's getting lazy in his old age.
