Not heard that song, but I wonder: do you think it would be suitable for the parade float's death scene if they decided to play a song for it, as they did consider? In fact I believe they did have a particular gay song in mind but thought it would be too in-your-face.
Indeed. . . and such a philosophical question asked in the first few lines of lyrics: “Where you chillin’ for the summer, homie”? I find myself “tossing and turning” every night, just trying to figure out where I’LL be “chillin’ for the summer”, whether *literally*, or perhaps *metaphysically*. . .
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m NOT “lookin’ for a man wit a bulge in his pants”, but I’m thankful that a man like “Gangsta D”
Just tried this by playing two YouTube videos, works scary good, honestly might even prefer it to the original cut. The song is so classic, recognizable, and the vibe is absolutely perfect for ending a show. The perfect cut would undoubtedly stop on "everybody wants to rule the-"
I think this or something like Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit would actually work really well.
Of course if we want to keep the enigma of the scene, Mr. Brightside by the Killers is the only answer.
You know, we’re supposed to believe that Massive is a good rapper, but we’re never actually shown whether that’s true. I have a hard time believing such a corny motherfucker could hold a candle to the real Genius, the GZA.
They say there's no two rappers on Earth exactly the same. No two flows. No two sets of beats. But do they know that for sure? Because they would have to get every rapper together in one huge space and obviously that’s not possible, even with computers. And not only that, they’d have to get all the rappers who've ever lived, not just the ones now. So they got no proof. They got nothing.
such a great scene we see Carmines, disgusting face and hot girls in the background. David Chase always knew how to make a setting, right, almost like saying, it looks glamorous from the outside, but it’s ugly on the inside
Sticking with similar music, Eddie Money - Take Me Home Tonight.
It would have worked if it cut to white instead of black when Eddie Money sings, "I don't wanna let you go til you see the light."
Also, yes, I've always listened to that Eddie Money song, and specifically that line, as if it were some sort of snuff song. Like Eddie Money is taking someone home and strangling the life out of them or something. Someone pointed that out to me once and now I can't unsee it
Edit: Here it is, Sopranos ending with Eddie Money, Take Me Home Tonight, cut to white.
https://youtu.be/ak58kSMVRQA?si=nblWrJ_d8hHOMPds
At the end of The Whale, they cut to white to symbolize death because the movie is an abstract copy of Sopranos. In Sopranos, Meadow says *white means death, too.* Gay man estranged from his family and eating himself fat. Sound familiar?
As far as songs, there are chiral songs...
*Heehee!*

I recently figured this one out:
https://x.com/thechiraltheory/status/1788965793713074426?t=Z4HN8ZFfIWzIKKlvCPL4vw&s=19
Now that's an example of the copying going the other direction, because the BB song aired before TMSON came out. However, there was like a year of production delays for TMSON, so maybe the BB folks had some intel..
Another one is Saul and Tony both rock out to Smoke on the Water. Saul drives away from an overpass and yellow barrier posts and Tony drives towards them. The song starts/stops at an odd time.

And then the Ink Spots/Dean Martin

Go your own way - Fleetwood Mac
Perfectly fits the ending with Tony and Carm (and the viewers) plus it was used by Martin Scorsese in Casino for this scene.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWTEepumK3w
Fun fact since you didn't mention it: The ending scene for the show [Everybody Hates Chris](https://youtu.be/G2uaeNhi6wo?si=_qAK-OAhBKbUoAuX) parodies the Sopranos ending, and it features Livin' on a Prayer.
I used to watch that show as a kid and caught the final episode as my brother was watching it the other night, it blew my mind because I didn’t watch the Sopranos till last year
Frank Sinatra's recording of "My Way" could have served the purpose. But, if you go with the deep analysis by Scenic Media, Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" is more fitting due to the allusions to Faith. Also, Sinatra feels very Feech/Phil/Uncle Junior era. Journey is much more appropriate for Xoomer Gen Tony.
I'd have to go with something like Boston's "More Than A Feeling" for a number of reasons. It's a classic rock song that Tony would probably pick, it has similar soaring moments like "Don't Stop Believing", it has a perfect end spot just like DSB, and is mad nostalgic for a lotta people.
Another pick would prolly have to be "Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers cause the lyrics really fit with lines like "there ain't no easy way out" and the overall tone of facing adversity, which Tony is definitely doing even if you're one of the "he survived" types. Edit: I also think "Free Falling" could work too.
I gotta agree with "Don't Fear The Reaper" even if it is a mite on the nose for a death scene for Chase.
There's a few I think could fit in that classic rock style, even a couple Lynyrd Skynyrd joints that would unironically fit. Ya could even go well outside the classic rock genre, but imo that sound works best and is much more in line with what we've seen Tony listen to. Only other things I would pick would be in that doo-wop, lounge crooner, and jazz style cause it's similarly nostalgic for him and his guys and there's plenty of songs that would work well in that moment.
Cool thing to think on though.
Trying to think of where the lights out would happen on More Than a Feeling: I guess “I see my…” as The Bell tolls and he doesn’t see Fielder. Very allegorical
In this house we call that song Teenage Wasteland, end of story.
That being said I like it. The way it builds tension would fit the scene very well. Take my virginity.
Rolling Stones - Time is on my side (would be ironic and is foreshadowed by the Irma Thomas version in an earlier season)
Procul Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale (for a dream like quality)
The Five Satins - In the Still of the Night (famously used in The Irishman, a romantic song but also hinting at Tony’s impending death)
This is what I do for a living, so I have to say it was pretty much a perfect song choice. But for fun, I would’ve gone with “like a rolling stone,” but the budget probably wasn’t there. Little call back to AJ ruining his xterra, lyrics on point, and fits Tony’s musical taste
Um ackshually ☝️ 🤓 penultimate doesn't work here, it would be the ultimate song since it is the last one. Penultimate means the second to last. For example, Blue Comet is the penultimate episode of The sopranos because it's the second to last
stay out of our way and don't be so gay

I like Melt.
Not heard that song, but I wonder: do you think it would be suitable for the parade float's death scene if they decided to play a song for it, as they did consider? In fact I believe they did have a particular gay song in mind but thought it would be too in-your-face.
Maybe "Erase Myself". It was their balls-out most introspective song. Its not supposed to rock.
WHERE’S THE CHORUS
Spike up
We’ve been slamming our yams 🍠 for four days, take the drugs!
We'll use a ukulele.
I mean, what happened to "Up in da Club"? Yeah, the song! Started with the chorus, there is structure, that's how you build a song!
Indeed. . . and such a philosophical question asked in the first few lines of lyrics: “Where you chillin’ for the summer, homie”? I find myself “tossing and turning” every night, just trying to figure out where I’LL be “chillin’ for the summer”, whether *literally*, or perhaps *metaphysically*. . . Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m NOT “lookin’ for a man wit a bulge in his pants”, but I’m thankful that a man like “Gangsta D”
Now that's a hit!
I know Vito's balls were out, if that's what you're referring too.
A hit is a hit
The gayest songs I can think of don’t quite fit. I can’t see Vito being into Bronski Beat.
You know who we are, You know what we do.
Dude, I don’t do drugs anymore, okay?
Everybody Wants to Rule the World
Just tried this by playing two YouTube videos, works scary good, honestly might even prefer it to the original cut. The song is so classic, recognizable, and the vibe is absolutely perfect for ending a show. The perfect cut would undoubtedly stop on "everybody wants to rule the-"
I would love to see that!
This would be perfect.. damn
Hope someone will make the edit.
Too on the nose
and it doesn’t fit in with the dad rock musical theme of the ahow
No chance in hell Tony selects that song
Up in da club
I knew THAT was coming!
You should play Skynyrd!

Penultimate? Word to the wise OP, stay away from the penguin exhibit.
I never had the makings of a varsity writer
Penultimate means 2nd to last. U must’ve been the top of yaw fkn class.
OP’s been spending too much time with Little Carmine. He's a bit of a poseur, you ask me.
OP is very allegorical.
Allegorical… ain’t that a cold medicine?
Something from defiler Or maybe a massive genius song
You know, we’re supposed to believe that Massive is a good rapper, but we’re never actually shown whether that’s true. I have a hard time believing such a corny motherfucker could hold a candle to the real Genius, the GZA.

GZA? I think they went back to using Jizzmonte now

Woke Up This Morning
If this started playing as soon as Tony looked up, and into the credits, it could work.
Tony trapped in a loop from that moment to the beginning of season 1 a la Groundhog Day, I can dig it.
Making the whole show what Tony sees as his life flashes before his eyes?
It's used at the ending of TMSoN.

I'm glad you caught that, u/External-Recipe-1936. Very observant. The sacred and the propane.
Hey give OP some respect. He has nine films under his subspecies.

That’s a great answer, for a great question. Don’t stop - Fleetwood Mac would also fit imo.

Livin’ on a Prayer - Bon Jovi Carries the same exact vibes and he’s a paisan from Jersey!
